| Hey! Just want to check in...I'm still doing well, been working out TONS at the gym, and despite coming down with some sort of cold or something I'm still doing fine. Just had a couple extra glasses of juice today that I wouldn't normally have had, but figured I needed the Vitamin C ;) I think I've decided that white rice = bad. I loooove white rice but it's packed with tons of calories. I ate a lot at dinner but restrained myself from eating TOO much and put the rest in the fridge. Man, what kind of person binges on RICE? lol. Close call. I'll be in Vegas for the weekend, so please don't delete me if I don't check in on Monday! I'm going to do my best at eating well this weekend, but...it IS Vegas and I worked out ALL week and originally said Vegas doesn't count, so we'll see, haha. Good luck to you all this weekend!! |

| VS has plenty of 36DD bras. That's what I wear. Or 38D if I can't find one in my size. Sometimes a 36D will work too, it just depends on the bra. | |||

| Weight Loss | Want to get down to driver's license weight lol | Jun 26 2007 07:31 (UTC) |

| haha, when I got my driver's permit at 15, I put down 165 (which then later went on the license) because that was my ideal weight. It's still the weight I'm aiming for, now a 7 year goal that I hope to FINALLY reach. I was probably 170-175 at the time, but I'm 6ft tall so I didn't look it. The point of the weight is to approximate what you look like if someone needs to identify you or something. But those kind of things get SO out of date and change, especially with women (who dye their hair and diet much more than men), and especially when everyone keeps the same information/picture for 10 years. My picture is going to be 8 years old when I renew, so I'm going to take a new one. Going to bars with an ID that has a picture of a 15 year old on it is really awkward sometimes, haha. On another note, my license also says I'm blonde. I am not, nor have I ever been blonde, but the woman at the DMV thought otherwise, I guess. |

| Weight Loss | chocolate woes | Jun 26 2007 07:08 (UTC) |

| the thought of low-cal chocolate makes me cringe! I am literally ADDICTED to chocolate, I get anxiety spells when I don't have it. So for me, it's REAL chocolate all the way :) But eating that much chocolate is not good, so I've been trying to find other ways to live without it. I drink a lot of water, don't keep the chocolate anywhere near my desk (where I spend most of my time), and the couple dark chocolate bars I do have, I keep them in a cupboard that is high up and limit myself to eating a square or two every few days. Some people don't like dark chocolate, but once you get used to it, I find it satisfies your chocolate cravings so much more. One of the chocolate bars I bought is 85% cacao...VERY VERY dark chocolate. It is almost bitter, but in a weird way it tastes SO good, and satisfies my chocolate craving for a couple days (when I was eating milk chocolate, I couldn't go more than a few hours without it...). The sweet sugary part of the chocolate is what makes you want to keep eating more, I think. But if it's almost bitter, then it satisfies the chocolate craving, but you don't want to KEEP eating it... | |||

| First day back on is going great! I spent 3 hours at the gym this morning (I was having so much fun) and I ate perfect all day...with enough calories to spare for an ice cream bar tonight :D AND I have a job interview on Wednesday. Today has turned out to be a good day :) |

| Hey Dee, no problem about deleting me from the list, I fully understand. I got kindof busy and knew I had to restart anyways so I didn't check back in. But I'll be doing better this next week! It's definitely a good thing that I set my restart for Monday, though. Going to my mom's house was like going to a food bonanza or something. I ate a lot of fruit and mushrooms and salad, but also a lot of chips and guac and brownie bites and cake and cookies and soda, potato and macaroni salad...omg I was so full I couldn't even eat any of the bread or sandwich stuff which was supposed to be the "main course". My mom tried to pawn off the extra food on me and I said NO WAY, so I'm proud of myself in that regard ;) Oh, and I only had a HALF a piece of cake. Hahaha. I was SOOO bad tonight. Can't wait to go grocery shopping for GOOD food this weekend!!! |

| I'm still here! But I need a restart :( Since Friday I've been eating horribly. All my friends were graduating this weekend so there were parties left and right...I couldn't resist having a few beers...and a long island...and then since I was rushing around all day to commencement ceremonies and hadn't eaten...we ended up drunkenly chowing down on french fries and potato skins and a quesadilla at 3am... It felt better than starving, but it DEFINITELY wasn't "clean eating". And I've just been all over the place with my sleeping habits and going out that I haven't been eating regularly and haven't been working out AND missed my weekly marathon training run. BUT I finally joined a gym yesterday, so that's a big step! Now I just need to go use it ;) And I need to buy some new running shoes so I don't injure my knees and ankles on my 6 mile run this weekend... Anyways, I would like to restart, but not today. I want to restart on Monday, so...the 25th? My mom is having a bbq tomorrow, so I already know I'm not gonna do so great. But I'm also in an "in between" stage right now where the food in my kitchen is going to go bad soon so I need to eat it before I go grocery shopping again, but the rest of my food is all gone... So I'm just gonna try to finish off what I have left and do some GOOD grocery shopping this wknd. That's why I want to restart for Monday :) Thanks! And good luck to everyone! |

| Hey ellybell! Another tall female engineer?! Crazy! I already posted in the other thread, but I'm 6' and 22, at 185-ish now and aiming for 165, then we'll see whether I want to go to 160 or 155. :) Yay tall people! |

| Weight Loss | 6 feet tall ladies out there! Let's talk!!! | Jun 14 2007 05:21 (UTC) |

| OOOMG I love this thread!! I love tall girls too!! haha. I have 3 friends that are an inch shorter than I am and I absolutely LOVE going out with them, especially when they wear heels. It's awesome when we all wear heels and go out to a bar...we get SOOOO much attention! ;) Anyways, I am 22 and 6'. I totally HEAR YOU about pants and shoes and EVERYTHING omg. I wear a size 11 shoe. I usually wear flip-flops and guys' tennis shoes whenever I can get away with it (or barefoot!). But I do have an assortment of nicer shoes, I've found them at Target and Ross and Nordstrom Rack (BEST place for TONS of NICE shoes up to size 14+ in women's). Occassionally I can find good shoes at other places too, but I don't need that many shoes since I just wear the nice ones occassionally so they last for several years :) For work shoes, I tend to wear low heels. Finding nice flats is hard...they either don't exist or they look like clown shoes (simply because they are long and flat). I used to be completely AGAINST wearing heels EVER, especially because a lot of my friends are Asian and like 5'2"...and because I don't like being taller than guys. But over the years I've gained a lot more confidence (and a lot more tall friends!) so I go out wearing heels making it a point to stand out from everyone else. They definitely make you look HOT. But I will usually adjust the height of the heel depending on who I'm going out with or how much I want to stand out, haha. I also have a HUUUGE problem with slouching. It sucks! You have to bend way over just to put your elbows on a table or your knees, to use the bathroom sink, or to walk under low-hanging trees...haha. I especially slouch when I'm around shorter people. I don't think having a larger bust helps either... I really need to work on my posture! Pants pants pants...ever the horrible battle. When I was a kid I was too skinny for any pants that were long enough. Now I have a similar problem in that my hips/thighs are large but my waist is small, so they always fit funny...in addition to needing long pants! I've found some good work pants at NY&Company and H&M. Jeans, I just find a pair or two that I like and wear them completely through until I HAVE to buy a new pair. They're usually kinda rare finds, so I don't have a consistent place I go for them. Although apparently some Levi's stores do custom-made jeans for a regular ($35-40?) price. I want to try doing that one day. Anyways, I am currently 185-ish and a size 12/14. I was almost 200 a few years ago and I was still a size 14... I'm aiming for 165 for now because I know/feel I could stand to lose that much...I was still a bit chubby when I was at 175 a few months ago. When I get to 165, I will re-evaluate where I want to be, whether I want to keep going to 160 or 155, or if 165 if a good place to be at. Most of that weight is in specific areas, so I'm sure I could stand to be 155 without looking TOO skinny :) My goal is to be athletic looking anyways ;) Fitting into a size 8 would be nice, that's where most people think I am now...I am always AMAZED when girls tell me I could probably wear their size 8 dresses...NO WAY. But I agree...I think my bones themselves probably weigh 135 lbs!! That's an insane weight for my body type! My mom is 5'4" and about 145 and she is not exactly fat...135 lbs is a weight best left for her, not me! But it highly varies when you get to really tall girls. Some of those models look good at their 130 lbs...some of them look WAY too skinny. Some girls at much higher weights look like models! HOORAY for tall girls :D |

| Weight Loss | Low cal dressings, salads | Jun 11 2007 22:17 (UTC) |

| ooo...you guys have some pretty good tips. Right now I'm using this balsamic bleu cheese dressing on my salads. It's pretty high cal...I bought it at this sortof farmer's market outside of San Francisco (Casa de Fruta, if you've ever been there). It's also something I have to savor because I would have to drive 5 hours to get another bottle of it ;) So I just use half (or less) of what I normally would (usually 2 tbsp per large salad) and I pour some balsamic vinegar on it to make those 2 tbsp go further :) |

| Hello! I would like to join this challenge too! :D This is actually the reason I joined the site, haha. I found that logging my meals was helping me eat healthier, and I liked the logging on this site better than the other one I was using. But I switched to this site because I wanted to post on this thread...I felt like it would help me define my own rules for healthy eating. I've been eating well for a couple weeks now (with some slip-ups) and it totally feels like I'm detoxing or something. I need something to keep my focus on my goals. SO...with that said, these are the "rules" I'm going to go by: - Eat no more than 2000 cals/day when I'm sitting around doing nothing, max 2200 on days that I'm more active or exercising, and never less than 1700 - Must eat at least 2 meals per day, preferrably 3 - "Eating out" will be limited to sit-down meals (no fast food) for special occassions/people only, and not more than once per week. Meals must remain in the calorie limit for the day. - Any alcohol consumed must be within my calorie limit, no more than 3 drinks per week (this will be lower later) - Absolutely NO "junk food" (I'm talking the really junky pre-packaged and processed stuff...not tortilla chips, a bit of ice cream, or the occassional cookie...) - Rules can be slightly bent to be feasible while travelling, but will still go off of what "feels right/wrong" and will try to be as healthy as possible - The weekend I go to Vegas does not exist - "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" haha. And as I'm finishing this up, my roommate just placed a bowl of flan in front of me! Noooo!! haha. Alright, time to eat healthy! ;) Good luck everyone! |
