| Hi. I am posting late.
I weighed in at 191lbs this week. I think that's a total loss of 5lbs over the 10lb challenge month. Not too bad, but I will continue to strive for that 10lbs. Thanks for this. It really did help!! :-) |

| Hello. Decided to post my weigh-in here also, otherwise kind of confusing for vthompson to find us all. Thanks for doing this btw.
My start weight was 196lbs on 30th June. My weight this morning is 194lbs. Loss of 2lbs. Very happy, as I broke the 14stones barrier. :-) Start: 196lbs 7/7: 194lbs Thanks. :-) |

| Weight Loss | Any ladies about 5'4"-- Goal Weights please?? | Jul 03 2007 16:57 (UTC) |

| Hello there. I am exactly 5'4". I'm 35 years old, small-medium frame. My current weight is 195lbs and goal is 133lbs (expect to reach this January 2008 realistically, but hopefully sooner). I am moderately active also - walk about 20 miles a week and try to eat healthy. I believe you have to go by how you feel personally. Everybody is different. I know I look good at 154lbs, especially when I am exercising/walking regularly and am toned up, but I am aiming for my weight of late teens, as I heard this is where your 'real' weight settles. I think anywhere between 133 and 147lbs is ideal for me. Also, I agree with lady above - I am also naturally curvy and certainly wouldn't want to lose my womanly figure - I like to have hips, thys, boobs - I feel feminine, so if I feel I am losing this or looking too gaunt and bony, then I would stop. Good luck! | |||

| Cripes! I just took some pics of myself - they will be my before shots. It's a good idea to have some, so thanks for putting up this post and making me think to do that. I posted them on my profile, and they really suck. I can't believe how big I am, but it's a constructive wake-up call for me. The positive of doing this is that I can already see from the side shot I took that my legs are toning up and my ass from all the walking I've been doing. I don't seem to have lost any weight in the past 2/3 weeks, so am now really watching calories. :-) | |||

| Crikey! You look bloudy amazing!! Well done you. I have 64lbs to lose, so you've helped to spur me on. Before and after pics are a great idea. I must get some full body pics taken. I joined the July 10lb challenge, so I'll take a pic on Saturday for starting that. You look like a totally different person and the blonde look really suits you. BIG CONGRATULATIONS! :-) | |||

| Hello. I am in the UK, but I would love to join your challenge. I have lost 9lbs so far, and it feels like it has taken ages - 5/6 weeks! I am doing 10lb goals, so perfect challenge for me. I will tag this thread and weigh in on the 30th June with the rest of you. Good luck! :-) I'm currently 196lbs, so to reach 186lbs would be just fabulous. | |||

| Weight Loss | Bloating problem - please help | Jun 21 2007 08:53 (UTC) |

| I wonder, could it be a reaction to something you are eating - like wheat or gluten? This is quite common. I have given up wheat/gluten and can't believe the difference - amazing. Maybe you could try eliminating wheat/gluten from your diet and see if you find a difference. I don't think fizzy drinks are good for this either. Hope you manage to sort it out. :-) | |||

| Definitely my face - less bloated and no more double chin that was starting. My family says I already look 5 years younger in just 4 weeks - hooray!! Also my waist, as my jeans are a little looser now. :-) | |||

| What a jerk! You are better off w/o such a guy in your life. My ex did the same with me. He said something very hurtful to me, despite the fact he was very overweight anyway. Needless to say, we are not together anymore, as I broke it off with him. He undermined my confidence. Now I am getting ready to take on the world. You too can do it. Don't look back, except to remember how far you have come and to recognise the winner that you are. Good luck with the ongoing journey. :-) | |||
| Weight Loss | What triggered your weight gain? | Jun 18 2007 15:53 (UTC) |

| My most regular since my teens has been c. 145lbs. I am aiming now for 133lbs (my weight at age 17) - they say the weight you settle at around the age of 17 is pretty much your regular body weight, so long as you aren't overweight that is. The biggest I have been is 205lbs - that was 4 weeks. I just lost 9lbs (hooray!!) and aim to get my weight at age of 17 in bite-size chunks and in 10lb increments. Most of my weight was gained through eating Ben and Jerry's ice-cream - a tub everyday and eating nothing else. I was working in London when the addiction began - getting home from work at 22:00hrs and just eating ice-cream - comfort-eating and not wanting to cook late at night - big mistake!! That stuff is like glue on your insides, trust me. On the road to redemption now though (big smile). :-) | |||
| Weight Loss | READ! so I did a little experiment. [eat more, weigh less.. WHOO!] | Jun 18 2007 15:46 (UTC) |

| It's interesting to hear about your experience. A few years back I lost 23lbs in 13 weeks, but I went to the gym for 2 hours a day six days a week plus did some aerobics classes and ate hardly anything - like 2 shakes a day and basically raw fruit/veg. Needless to say, as soon as I started to eat more food and could not keep up the exercise regime, I put all the weight back on. This time I am eating regularly and not starving myself and walking everyday and I have already lost 9lbs in just 4 weeks. Amazing! I am convinced that if I had done this a few years back, i.e. eaten more and not less, I would have lost more weight. I think my body went into panic mode and was hanging on to the fat for dear life itself. So, well done you for recognising where you went wrong and doing something about it. Keep going as you are and good luck! | |||

| Hi guera. Exactly! And I'm glad you don't live in fear, like the woman I met in London. A number of us tried to assuage her fears and calm her down, but she didn't want to listen and was on her way to the shop to buy up all this stuff. Crazy is right! Marketing can really suck, you are right about that too. :-) | |||

| Hey there. 20lbs in 2 months - that is just amazing! Well done you - fantastic!! I cannot wait to reach the same point. I have lost 8lbs since 21st May and hope to reach the 10lbs mark by next week. If a month later I could lose another 10lbs like yerself - wow I would feel so freakin' happeeeeeeeeee! Go you and keep it up!! :-) | |||

| I was quite honestly shocked, when whilst working in London (UK), the American wife of a Director where I worked was insisting we all go out and buy duck-tape and tape up our windows because we were all going to be attacked. She was really quite hysterical about the whole thing. I asked her - what are you so afraid of? She said 'the government says we must be on our guard. there are recommendations on how to protect ourselves ....' I was stunned! The only time I remember any kind of well-founded fear in the UK was during Thatcher era and over nuclear attack in the 1980s and stuff. We learnt about it at school. It sounds like the same old tactic of 'divide and rule' - and it even seems to be happening in USA among same citizens. Fear is the easiest form of control and manipulation. | |||

| Oh, and Diana - I just peeked at your profile. It is very commendable the work you are doing with young people in Colorado. Too often young people are written off. I have been working on and off for past 10 years with street children and young gang members in Latin America, so I understand your passion and the story you relayed is indeed very sad. Keep that up too. All power to you ....... :-) | |||

| Well done you! I love to hear the success stories - keeps me going strong. I started on 21st May and have lost solid 8lbs. Think I might drop a few more in the next 2 weeks. I think I might set some 10 pound goals also, like minders408 - that's a great idea! Ooooh - only 2lbs of my first 10lbs - such a great feeling. All the best and keep it up ...... :-) | |||

| Hello. I don't know about in the US, but in the UK you can buy them in most health food stores - already ground. I think they are fab! Rich on omega-3 fats (good fats!) and if you don't like oily fish (herrings and so forth) a good source of omega-3. I put a tablespoon of ground flaxseeds on my millet every morning - delicious! Go for it. Hope you can find what you need. :-) | |||

| Thanks Amanda. I will definitely check out that exercise site. And hey - good luck to you too. I also think this site is really great, and I have only just joined and not had time to utilise everything yet. Yeah, I can't believe how excited and positive I feel. I feel like the mountain isn't too high anymore and I just keep thinking in bite-size chunks which really really helps. I plan to weigh myself fortnightly and use one pair of jeans to check my progress. That way, I don't drive myself insane. Good luck with your journey too!! | |||

| hehe. No problem. It's a bit old-fashioned to say stones I guess. In fact, most folk in UK/Ireland, Europe use kgs nowadays. I like the lbs thing though - though the triple numbers are kinda scary ;-) Well again, thank you all for all your support and for sharing. I am so excited for this journey and to reach the end - yay - what a day that will be!! :-) |

| Hello imjuspickin. I am new to this community, but having read your post, I wonder if the following might help. I recently bought a pair of MBTs (masai barefoot technology). They have really helped with my back and posture and a gammy right knee. I read that, if used correctly (they are strictly sports medical equipment, as opposed to training shoes per se) they can help the muscles in your feet to rebuild fallen arches. Anyway, I wonder if it is something you could at least look into. They might just help. I walk c. 20 miles a week in them and cannot believe the difference they have made - toning, cellulite, posture. Well, just a thought .... I hope you can fix your problem though - swimming is fantastic, and less strain on joints or feet. Best of luck. :-) | |||

| Thanks for all your comments and support. Oh, by the way - a stone is 14lbs (that's for humorpam). It's good to know I'm not alone with the whole ice-cream thing. It was really clogging me up too and I really can't believe the difference. Hello prkushan - you are absolutely right. The whole wheat thing is because I have discovered I am allergic to wheat. After eliminating it from my diet, I found that when i reintroduced it I got IBS and rashes on my skin. I have found wheat-free bread alternatives that I try and stick to nowadays, though I am not a big bread eater anyway. The sugar was affecting my energy levels and blood sugar levels and I believe causing my legs to involuntarily twitch (not sure how you call that really) - anyway, I noticed it was particularly bad when I consumed too much sugar and also my urine smelled sweet. As my grandfather was a diabetic, I was advised by my doctor to cut right down, othewise could end up developing diabetes and urine smelling sweet is a sign that there is too much in your system. They are my actual reasons for cutting these items out, though sugar I now consume through fruits and natural fresh produce. I am totally trying to stick to 'everything in moderation' - it really is the only way I think, otherwise I will put all the weight back on as soon as I lose it all. Thanks again everyone, and sorry if I don't always respond straightaway to you, I am in different time zone to most of you I believe, as I am in Northern Ireland. :-) | |||

Power of positive thinking and ownership of the issue is what is needed. Thanks. You have added to my determination now. :-) | |||
