finally got my scale back and am attempting to eliminate more bad eating habits... uggo!

176.6 this morning! when i get to 175, that will be 75lbs lost! i'm pumped. there is just something special about numbers like that. then, at 173.9 my bmi will be 24.9 and officially considered healthy. that makes me happy. its been a very long year and a half since i started this, so its good to see progress like that. i mean, it is one thing to lose weight to look good, but when you reach those little transitional milestones (obese-->overweight, finally under 200lbs, more stamina when exercising, healthy bmi etc) it makes it all worth it. who would have thought?

m_c_85, totally agree with the "ridiculously far into the future"

hmmm... i have only 38 pounds to lose, why don't i just go ahead and take five and a half years to lose it? absurd, and lame!

and as for the people who feel uncomfortable openly talking about sex... well, obviously they aren't doing it right in the first place, so they can't.

yesterday could have been a disaster!

my friends and i were going to go out to this buffalo wild wings place, and i was kind of freaking out because, well, i'm a vegan going into a meat establishment. usually my kind are not particularly welcome in places like that! but i went online and tracked down a menu (buffalo wild wings is probably the worst chain restaurant when it comes to advertising nutritional facts. they have the calories for the sauces on the internet and that's about it!). luckily they had a gardenburger option, and i went for that and a side salad.

after that we went to the dark knight midnight showing. i've been trained since i was a little'un that you're supposed to overeat when you go to the movies like mad crazy. candy, butter popcorn, etc. this time though i brought a package of sugar free lifesavers, and even if i would have eaten the whole bag (i didn't) it only would have been around 250 calories! so i was happy for that.

onyl one week left until i get my scale back. i'm anxious and nervous. god what if after three weeks i stayed the same, or worse, went UP?

chantees, i've found that instead of waiting to instigate a new diet/exercise regime, it is better to just start it right off.

for real. last semester i kept saying to myself "over the summer, i'll have the willpower and lose tons of weight because i did last summer, so i'll just let myself eat this now, etc" except now here's summer and i've maybe lost 7lbs (instead of the 25 i was hoping for!). when i look back, it makes me really wish i would have just really tried to have more willpower, instead of pushing it off for later. i think later should always be now!

i just thought i'd share this link with you guys, since we're all going for a pretty aggressive goal (30lbs in 3.5 months):

losertown

it shows you what your deficit is at, what weight you'd be at by what date, helps you figure out how much exercise/calories, etc.

i imagine it is about as accurate as the cc allowance calculator (meaning everyone's bodies work differently and these things don't account for plateaus, menstruations, etc), but i like this one much better because it displays a lot more info. i like graphs!

pshhh, yeah, i'm not going to be weighing-in until two weeks from now (july 26ish) because i left my scale at my dads house and i don't want to be three kinds of creeper and like go to walmart and weigh myself there. that would actually be kind of weird. the idea is in my head though, so we'll see if i do it now.

i'm from northern illi (like north of chicago), but i go to school in south dakota. it's like two different worlds.

i don't have any tattoos because i'm waiting until i reach towards my goal weight and see what my skin looks like. plus i change my mind a lot and if i were to have gotten one a few month ago, when i wanted to, it would have been like a unicorn or a skeleton with a top hat and a cigar. sooooo.... yeah. i'll wait until things are a bit more stable, physically and mentally.

also, i don't drink teas or coffee or even soda or juices anymore. i'm making an half-assed attempt at "clean" or "pure" eating, so i'm avoiding that caffine/chemical buisness. i have a lot of water, plain, maybe with ice and sometimes soy milk with oatmeal. its kind of devoid living but i'm used to it.

yeah hey, last summer over the course of four months i lost 40lbs (250->210). granted, that's a lot more than you weigh tinka86, and when you're bigger its easier to lose, but i don't think it is exactly impossible. just exercise tons and stuff. but be smart about it, of course!

height: 5'9 7/8" 5'10"

cw - 180 (well, i'm pretending, after some mondo binges these last five days, its probably 185+, but that'll drop fast enough, just water and salts, i know, i'm an experiences diet-binger)

gw - 150 (put my BMI at 21.5, and is only 10lbs away from my super fabulous goal of 140)

woc - right now i ride my bike everywhere.... to work, around town, walmart (which is a 8mile round trip on gravel ugh). when i go back to schoolie i want to bring it with because walking/running around a small rural college town at night is not very good for maintaining sanity. oh, and i stole my brothers weight set and i use that every other night for my arms.

about me - i'm 20, from illi, go to schoolie in south dakota for anthropology, want to be a paleo-anthropologist specializing in osteology (bones! fossils! evolution! sweeeet!). i'm attempting veganism (some days are easier than others), and i hate cardio that doesn't involve a bicycle and me on it.

costumer - i just found out today my roommate wants to do the pirate thing, and because she's tiny, i'm going to let her have that one. no need for comparisons. and i was actually leaning more towards the batgirl thing anyway!

oh dang i made a little ticker in my profile a week ago that was exactly for this... 30lbs by halloween. genius.

age: 20
height: 5'9 7/8" 5'10"
cw: 180 (BMI: 25.8)
hallow-gw: 150 (BMI: 21.5)

i'm guessing that one of the motivations for this group is to wear a sweet halloween costume? well, what do you want to be for halloween? i want to be batgirl or a pirate hooker. i dream big.

i'm different, i'm definitely sick of being a 10/12. was a size 18, and now i just have a really really big desire to get into the single digit sizes.

oh, and for the records i'm 185lbs, 5'10
bust:36
waist:33
hips:40

(as you can see too from these measurements i'm more of an apple shape, so thats another motivation to lose the silly stomach bulges)

i'm 5'10 and 182lbs. started 250lbs at the beginning of may07. lost during the summer through walking 3-5miles at night and smart mealplan choices (1200-1600 range). then i went back to school and weight loss has slowed a lot. because i don't exercise i guess. probably should get on that. these days though to compensate i eat less (1200-1400). mostly a lot of veggies and natural stuffs. no soda or meat. goal range is about 140-145. 143?

for a long time, i was really good about not eating after binge drinking. then something happened and i couldn't just go home and not look in the minifridge for food. so what i started to do was prepreparing my after drinking foods. i measure and set it out on my desk so its right there ready for when i stumble through the door. i like pretzels so usually its a portion of pretzels and maybe and apple. fruits with lots of juices in them are actually quite tasty to have post-drinking, in my opinion. much better then greasy food.

bunnigrrl... i 150% agree with you on that one. very good, accurate point. i think large shoulders is what would make you look proportional to the hips, not bust size. you can actually see the curve that way, and thus the defined hourglass shape.

you're like me... vodka and diet soda is the way to go. so at least you're on the right path. i don't think that drinking inhibits weight loss at all, especially if you have our habits. and i did lose 65lbs and i'm a hardcore drinker on the weekends. it is possible, it just takes a little bit longer i guess is the advice you're looking for. i don't think theres any reason to quit drinking just because you're on a diet, thats actually all the more reason to drink! heck, you're kicking out one pleasure (food), so why not replace it with another!? otherwise... your life will be deprived. yes. i've thought about it a lot! and i hate to read posts where people say they quit drinking because it was inhibiting their weight loss... well... as long as you stay away from the drunk munchies, it should be all good. i usually wake up 3-5 lbs lighter the next day anyway! so there you go.

to not eat at night i do some breathing exerciese and meditate (focus on nothing, rather than food i crave). no joke. its silly stuff but it keeps me out of the kitchen and clears my mind. you should give it a try!

and i finally got on my dads scale. its not digital, so i'm weary to trust it, but it had me at 181. thats okay i guess. especially post-holidays and everything. but i'm not going to count anything as official until two fridays from now, when i'm back at school with my lucky digital.
