Weight Loss I am fail. Aug 05 2008

I know this isn't going to be what you want to hear, but forget about the scale for 2 weeks and set a non-scale related goal for yourself.  Take 15 seconds off your best mile run time.  Increase the amount of weight you leg press.  Collect food from your friends for your local foodbank.

The subject of your posting indicates you're in a bad state mentally and the stress associated with that doesn't promote weight loss.  Do something that makes you feel GOOD about yourself, that makes you feel like a success, then, if the scale stays the same - So what?  You are faster, or stronger, or a better person for having achieved another goal.  The weight will come off because you are more stubborn than it is.

I turned 40 this year and spent most of my life begging for the approval and inclusion of my family.  I came to terms with the fact that I cannot change their behavior, only my own.  I have started putting my time and energy into the positive relationships I have with many caring friends and my husband's family.  Life is too short to let other people diminish your self-worth and accomplishments.

I am proud of you and I just "met" you.  Your family is missing out on this wonderful, confident woman.  Their loss!

Okay, that makes three of us.  I finished my first triathlon yesterday Cool but am the exact same weight as when I started training August 1 Yell.  I did not increase my calories and the only changes I made were related to time of day depending on when I trained.  What's the deal?

Thanks for sharing!  I love lentil soup and have been waiting for the right recipe to come along to share with my family (they aren't as adventurous with new foods as I am).  I can't wait to try it!!

Bon Appetit,

Ladies,

I was just reading through your thread.  Though I am many years past my wedding, it was fun to walk down memory lane back to the Engaged Encounter weekend, dress fittings, other friends' weddings, etc. with you.

You are doing great getting to the gym at all during this busy time.  It will really help to keep your emotions in check if you are able to keep it up in the coming stress-filled months.  Best of luck - there are others out here rooting for you!!

I've also seen it where you exercise your way across a state (Rhode Island is 48 miles, Texas is 801, etc.)

I rode 13 miles on the bike and lifted weights for 45 minutes yesterday.

Today I ran 3 miles and swam for 20 minutes.
