how my girls doing??

i took pics of myself on feb 4th, today being march 15th i have been working out almost 5 days a week, minumum 4, and i really do see a difference... i have dropped one pants/skirt size and am feeling sooo much more toned....

one thing im noticing is my weight number is not going down very much... im starting to notice that maybe my ultimate goal weight of 140 @ 5'9 1/2" is too low... not unreachable, just generally too low... i think i look pretty good and im at 160-163 depending on water etc..

any one else notice this ever?

angie jolie is so disgusting anymore... in the days of lara croft and before she started dating brad pitt, she had an amazing body, curvy and beautiful.. i was sad to see her succumb to the hollywood stick figure craze....

i dont think anyone said it so far but JESSICA BIEL is amazing! so athletic and naturally beautiful.. look at the new Disney ads where she is pocahontas... so beautiful

i was reading about drinking the alcoholic beverages....

i used to always just not count my drinks which made the day counting a waste of time.... i also used to get a little crazy with the drinks and go nuts on the weekends but some motivation for me to lessen the intake, be a safer driver, and everything along with being a little more sober is being able to wake up, get to the gym and feel good the day after instead of feeling like hung over and gross

just a word of advice for someone who enjoys a few drinks on the weekends :)

Hey everyone!

Happy about the responses! We all so far have a similar amount of weight to lose it seems, which is good. I've been to the gym the last two days in a row, and am feeling pretty good- been eating good, salads, low on carbs, being pretty good, and I hope you have been too!

Couple things- I've been weighing myself everyday and although the scale has actually been going down a little, its more like water weight probably not actual fat. I am wondering- how often do u weigh urself or want to weigh urself? I keep thinking I want to know where I'm at and if it keeps going down, or at least stays the same, I'm going to be more motivated to work out and feel even better the next day!

I think even if we weigh ourselves every day or every other or whatever, maybe Monday mornings would be a good weigh in day for our group- that way we stay inspired all weekend long :)
How does that sound???

Also, not sure if anyone has been doing this or something like this, but I used to do the elliptical machine for at least 30 minutes everytime I worked out--- found myself just kind of plugging miles, being bored and just getting to a certain time... I've read and heard that switching up your cardio routine is key to keeping your body guessing and therefore losing more and toning in different places.. so yesterday, I did 10 minutes each on stairs, elliptical, and spin bike... today I did spin bike and gazelle like machine for 15 each.... does anyone do this? interested in doing this? what are your workout routines like or is everyone strictly counting cals?

I have to admit... I'm not counting cals, but I am being very conscious about what I'm eating... I counted last summer and I may have lost a few pounds, but I went a little crazy doing it because I was stressing so much about everything and it was making me miserable. Right now, I'm focusing on losing my 27 lbs, getting from 167 to 140 and by May 22. However that is possible, by eating grilled chicken, salads, fish and veggies with the occassional sandwich with bread or some potatoes, well I think that's pretty good if I'm going to the gym hardcore too! :)

Where's everyone from? Wilson and Spirit- where and when did you become friends?

Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Nice! I'm excited... yesterday I started going to the gym.. read a lot of motivational blogs, and just am so ready to have the body I want for the summertime :)

Most inspring quote found today:
"No food tastes as good as losing weight feels"

I'm not taking credit for the quote, so whoever said it first, thanks for the inspiration! :)

Have a great day, good luck, and lets DO this!!!

-Size 7 (instead of 11... ok, 13)
-Bikini for the summer and feeling confident (instead of wearing one and being self-conscious of everyone and everything around me)
-Finding a local beach volleyball league and joining it and playing all summer long
-Seeing my before and after pictures and have and hold that feeling of accomplishment
-Being more confident during sex with my b/f
-Hearing "how did you do it?" from friends, co-workers, family, etc. after I get to my goal weight
-Learning how to cook for myself

More, I'm sure, but just trying to think of other ones other than the ones people already mentioned, ie muffin top, etc etc haha

Good luck everyone, summer is coming soon- be on ur best behavior! I know I'm trying to be! :)

Hi skinnie-minnies!

I am 5'10" and a should be 140lb 22 y/o, however over the last stressful 3 years i have gained about 25-30 lbs.. and trust me, at the point of being 140, i wanted to lose weight....

everyone around me always, even now, tells me i am beautiful, gorgeous, etc etc.. and that part doesnt matter, what everyone else thinks.. its about what u think about urself... my bf is also so confused as to what to do with me, i go thru trying- on- clothes- fits  all too often where i almost end up in tears just looking at the mirror... i would say i have a little more too worry about, but im not going to, because every woman, any age almost always doesnt like their body....

at any consultation, although im not sure of ur height because it wasnt posted here i dont think, i imagine anyone at 118 or so lbs and a size 2, or 4 (dont ever shop at H&M haha) is by any means "chubby" as you described yourself... i dont have an ED, but i strongly believe i have BDD (body dymorphic disorder) and that might also be what u are experiencing... feeling u look completely different than u actually do...

my best possible advice, and it is the advice that NO one wants to hear is GO TO THE GYM! haha take a week, and hit the gym or if u dont belong go get a DVD or even just use the internet to look up some good moves to tone legs and stomach and guaranteed u will feel a lot better with ur self image in a short amount of time...

u probably are already at a decent weight u want to be, any problem areas u see are more than likely going to be corrected by toning not losing weight. good luck, and email me anytime for support!  i sound strong now, but tomorrow im sure is a different day! GOOD LUCK!! :)

thank you for all of the responses...

i am 5'9 1/2" by the way-- so many people would say im at a generally healthy weight, but to be 145 in january and then 165 in december makes me feel extremely sluggish and unmotivated...

jason, thanks for ur offer~ unfortunately i am a terrible cook! i used to think i was ok, because i can make a few things ok, but whenever i cook for myself i end up eating the entire i dish i make cuz its usually overportioned...

i do need a gym buddy.. is anyone aware of a site or anything that offers local people? or has having a buddy on here really worked for anyone?

i dont get much support from home-- i live with two guys who both think a good meal is the chicken sandwich instead of a whopper at burger king... UGH!

advice: dont weight urself 3 X's a day! its just never perfectly accurate, and afterall, it IS just a number.. its how u feel and look that really matter.... i weigh myself monday morning before i do anything... thats the only time i record my weight and although i step on the scale (bad habit) several times throughout the week, i never record any losses or gains, because its just crazy to be doin that! i say relax about the number, work on feeling good and lossing lbs. in the process, but not stressing over the number itself... good luck!

ajy has said it all--- cut back in portions, not what on what you love... ice cream and treats shouldnt be an everyday treat tho.. i leave saturday and sunday open for a good cookie or something really indulgent but try to keep my weekends really focused and low on the cals... i am trying to stay at 1200-1500 depending on the day, and at first it was really hard for me.. but now im learning to eat when im hungry, not when im bored... i used to snack on a bag of chips or pretzels ALL day throughout the day at work... and now i realize i was just snacking wayyy too much.. best of luck on trying to minimize but dont feel like u have to give up everything for a more healthier you.

i dont think u should be eating "weight watchers" anything... stick to good protien like meat, fish, and peanut butter and natural oils... u dont need to be eating 800 that is a low amount for anyone and that is not how u are going to survive... if u want to start working up to maintaing a healthy weight id say start at 1500 or so that way ur body starts replenishing nutrients lost... good luck

monthly discharge is normal and varies from woman to woman.. i never had it as a younger teen but around your age, i noticed it more.. just carry panty liners and wear breathable underwear to avoid yeast infections.. i have had many of them and you DONT want that.... very painful and can lead to more problems... oh the joys of life as a woman!

Fitness Gym Calorie Calculators Jun 26 2007
14:20 (UTC)
Whenever I do elliptical, I always just do manual settings so I dont think it calculates my height and weight... but if the machine says 101 in 30 minutes, u must not be working very hard on it... I try to burn 100 calories for every 10 minutes on there, and that is more comparable to the CC suggestion.... and also, maybe you are picking the wrong choice from list of elliptical choices... there are vigorous, moderate and light effort i do believe... if u know u arent working as hard as u could be, then pick a moderate or light effort according to what u know u are doing...

best of luck, and dont be afraid to push urself!!! i am very proud to say that i could never ever do the full 60 minutes from the "quickstart" countdown that begins on the manual setting... and i finally worked up to it, and probably burned a good 650 cals... I wish u the same luck as hard work brought me!! Take care!

I sprained mine last year, after I fell down stairs basically onto my but... your health is most important, and although it sucks to not be able to work out, actually being stationary and not exercising will help it heal faster... especially since its ACTUALLY broken, which is hard to do.... take it easy and just make sure u are eating right and skimp down to the lower end of ur calorie range, rather than work out...

another small thing u could do is lift weights in the arms? keep them strong, esp since most females have no upper body strength, maybe u will come out of this strong on top then u can go back to doing the bottom half?  but really if anything strains it more, or hurts it.. def just rest til u are better... take it easy

Health & Support Quitting Smoking... how do I keep the weight off? Jun 25 2007
20:56 (UTC)
hey kris-- i am 21 years old and was smoking for many years through middle and high school and college until last year i met someone who i HAD to be with as my best friend and love, and he absolutely hated smoking... there was no chance to be with him if i quit... one and a half years later, yes i did quit and i def think i gained about 10 lbs... but replacing disgusting cigerettes with a healthy diet is such a healthy decision to make for yourself... i dont know how to tell u to quit, becaues my motivation was within... sometimes now ill be drinking and someone will be smoking and ill take a drag off of it and be like wow, gross... just knowing that the smell and taste and everything about it is absolutely gross made me quit... it comes from within-- mind over matter-- and i do wish u luck, but as for the weight... think of it this way-- if u gain 5 or 10 lbs over the next year, but get ciggerettes out of ur life, as a 21 year person, u will have a much easier time losing the extra few lbs, than quitting ciggerettes later on in ur life

best of luck! msg me if u wanna talk more!

take care! -laurie

stlgirl-- thanks for the advice... you are so right... most people came back to this with a negative feedback... and i do try hard, eat right and try to fix those "problem areas" and it will make me feel better to do so, then i should... u might have actually just put an end to this disucssion and im glad i came out feeling this way.... as for those horror stories u hear-- its mostly from people who didnt have realistic goals for the surgery to begin with, and who probably didnt choose a good doctor... being 154/ 5'10" may sound like the right weight for the height etc, but they dont know how i look or how those spots on my body make me feel... so thanks all for the feedback, but i think my decision for now is made... ill keep u posted on any changes or results!

your first step to recovery is admitting there is a problem... seek counseling, and do not be afraid of your parents... my parents finally got thru to me when i was about ur age, in middle school, after i had cut myself really badly and had a suicide note written and literally ready to go... they found it while i was at school and im so glad they did because they got me help and that was 8 years ago... im still battling with self image issues, but i am ALIVE to help others and myself with it... when it comes to suicidal behavior and thoughts of it... there is only one thing i can say... suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem... please, talk to somone, get help, do anything to save a precious life... u will get thru this hard time, and the best thing is to get support...

anything i can do, please let me know... i feel u for ur situation... best of luck and take care helen

in response to many of these...

no, i dont feel i have a deadline, he is starting his practice and i feel like its a first chance, rather than a deadline.. it may seem weird to have your one-day-brother-in-law to do your lipo and breast job, but he is so professional and trust me, when someone is on an operating table all torn up and organs all over the place, its not like he is seeing me sexually or anything that way, so lets get that straight... hes married, his wife has breast implants and she wishes to get liposuction and will be getting it at the end of this month...

people say they want to see pics of me or wonder what i look like.. i am very tall, and have a pretty proportionate body, i think, except for my legs.. they are very thick at the top and around my hips.. if i get breast implants, which is the plan, (because they are uneven and i have been wanting that for a very long time due to their significant uneveness) im afraid i will just look like a big person if i dont take some out on the bottom half of me... im already tall, and when i meet people sometimes they are just like "wow u are a big girl" and i know they didnt mean it in a mean way, or that i was really overweight, but i hate being categorized as a "large" or really big girl... i honestly feel like im someone, in someone elses body sometimes..

as for kids, well yes i very much want them. girls and/or boys.. if my child one day doesnt feel like she loves herself, or her body, there is no way at 16 or 17 she is getting anything done... unless it is medically needed for some reason, god forbid... but as for cosmetic, i am 21, getting to be an adult, and making adult decisions for myself... if my daughter was 21 and thought that she worked hard to get somewhere (physically) and stressed so much over it i would say go for it, using only a great doctor, etc. it wouldnt make me feel bad to tell her i did it when i was younger)

and for the person who did get liposuction.. im glad to hear ur recovery went well.. and i honestly do know that things do come back-- genetics place your fat in different spots on different people, and that is something u cannot change... but i feel that now i am young and should be enjoying my body and my life and i dont want to be so slef conscious... maybe someday when im married or have kids, ill have a different perspective on life and my body and be at more peace with who i am.. but now, i dont feel that way...

it may seem drastic, but when u have tried for so many years to lose the same problem areas (belly, hips, thighs) you go nuts obsessing...
