| Motivation | Help...huge weight gain in 2 weeks...can this be right? | Nov 23 2009 20:32 (UTC) |

Well, first of all, was this at the same time of day? I know that if I weigh myself at 3:00pm vs. 9:00 am there's often a 4 pound difference. And, not to be crude, but I find (personaly) that sometimes water/other waste/if you get my drift/can add up to at least two pounds if I'm not drinking enough water or eating enough fiber. All things to consider I guess. |

| Weight Loss | Nighttime Eating syndrome treatment. | Nov 10 2009 23:03 (UTC) |
|
I had this problem for over two years. It started out that I ate because I was restricting too heavily during the day (i.e. Eating 1500 calories, and doing 2.5 hour cardio work outs, etc) So, I finally got fed up and did something about it. It may sound extreme, but I found that if I can't GET to the kitchen, I can't eat anything. So, I block off the hallways using a "web" of sorts, made out of christmas wrapping ribbon. I just tape it up before I go to bed, and I have no problems during the night (usually, I'm too disoriented to be able to figure out how to take it down! I did, once, however, run into it, which sucked) But overall, it's worked for me for six months now. You may want to try it. |

| I think I'm in the same boat right now!
I'm up four pounds, and am craving lots and lots of chocolate. I think we'll be okay, give it a few days. Eat healthy, drink water, and wait a while. |

| Weight Loss | how much? | Jan 18 2008 01:48 (UTC) |

| I'm always about 5 pounds heavier right before I go to bed...
But to be honest, I pee a LOT during the night (which also leads me to be awake, and engage in lots of late night eating, but that's a completely different story!), so I think that that's probably where it goes for me. So anyway, I'd say you're pretty normal :) |

| hmm...and I thought I was the only one who lost weight in college! I lost about 30 pounds over my four years, simply by walking every where.
I also lost 15 pounds while living in England for the same reason. I had been doing really well this summer too, and was down another 15, only to gain back 5 within the past week!! Argh!! (Corn and Bread...way too much Corn and Bread...God I love Summer) I'm headed to Graduate school in the fall, Simmons College in Boston, and I won't have a car, so hopefully it'll all come melting off again! I think we should start a support/accountability group though. Maybe give each other challenges?? |

| Cati,
I know it's really weird! Back when I was eating as much as I wanted (not counting calories, but not eating crap either--I've never liked fast food or anything) I only did it when I was really stressed out, but now, it's every single night and I HATE it. Last night I woke up while I was standing in the kitchen eating a banana...that had somehow been covered in reduced fat cream cheese...ewww! Not something I would normally eat AT ALL! |

| Oh my Gosh! I Sleep Eat too! And it used to be once in a very great while, and now it's every single night. I've tried everything to stop it, and I haven't been able to (save for the first night I tried putting up signs in my kitchen that said "NO EATING" but like I said, that only worked once)
I really wish I could stop, and I'm going to keep trying... |

| I'm currently 163 (down from 226!) so I'm actually trying to be happy with where I am, but I'd like to be 150, for no other reason than it's a nice, round number! And I'd like to just be happy with ME not necissarily how I look... | |||

| Hi Holly,
I have PCOS as well. I've found that Yasmin birth control pills control a lot of my symptoms. And I've had success with losing weight, albeit very slowly over the past few years. I think exercise is key to this. It is a vicious cycle though, you're right, but at least my symptoms have lessened. Have you begun an exercise routine? |

| Thanks Karak :)
Actually, most of my symptoms are in my head. Sore throat, bit dizzy...but my arms and legs feel kind of "heavy" you know. Luckily I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday morning, so hopefully can make it until then! I think I'll just go to the gym tomorrow and see how much I can do. No pressure. ugh, I can't believe I'm feeling guilty about "binging" on fruit all day. Isn't it silly? |

| Motivation | working in a restaurant!! HELP! | Jun 22 2007 19:48 (UTC) |

| Oh I know how this feels! I'm a waitress, and whatever's left on the line at the end of the night is all ours, and when we do weddings and other buffets it all gets put out for the staff...
When I first started trying to lose weight, I refused to touch any of it, but that didn't last very long. So then I made a rule, I could only have the veggies that were left-over, and I talked to the cook, who keeps me accountable. Literally, she'll slap my fingers if she sees me taking anything but veggies. Another thing I do is that I bring along a healthy snack to work. Like tonight I'm taking celery and carrot sticks and a small apple, which I'll save till near the end of the shift, and eat it right before I'd normally gobble the "remains" (Another good way to trick yourself into not wanting the food would be to think of how many people have been near it, who may have sneezed near it, etc..) Hope this helps! |

| Oh...ow...And to think I used to do 50 lunges a day...My Cat was definitely looking at me funny while I did them.
This is fantastic. I Can't wait to do 15 extra minutes tomorrow, I'm already trying to decide if I want to run, bike, or whatever. I think it's well placed in this forum. |

| I tried it, for five days, and gave up because I didn't see any change whatsoever...however, I've been drinking two cups of green tea per day now, and I think that's helped budge some water weight. | |||

| Congratulations!
Isn't it great? I've been eating about the same cals as you, and doing a heavy cardio 6 days a week/ 2 hours a day. Plus a 2.5 mile walk three times a week, for about three months, and I've only lost three pounds, but I've lost an inch off my bust, an inch and a half off my waist and (best of all!) Three inches off my hips! So, yeah, the scale may not budge, but at least there are signs of progress! |

| hmm...the only problem is, I'm not a teenager :) I remember feeling tired a lot then, but this is different. I feel just plain worn down. To the point of not being able to even move. But I feel great after my work outs (two hours, six days a week), it's like three hours afterwards that I completely crash.
Welcome to the club Aeromancer, Katie, etc, go ahead and add me as a friend, I think we're totally in the same boat... WE CAN GET THROUGH THIS TOGETHER!! |

| I've been having the exact same problem ever since I joined 5 days ago!
Admittedly I have already lost some weight (about half a pound), but I do feel incredibly tired all of the time (and, like you, I've been eating aroun 1300-1500 calories a day). And as for checking this site a lot...well...I think it's pretty much the only thing I've been doing since I discovered it. And that totally worries me. I've even begun telling other people how many calories are in the food they're eating! (I'm sure I've become incredibly annoying) |

| Hello Friends :)
What a great group of folks! I'd like to declare myself a *temporary* member of this club. I'm 5'7 and currently range 172-174. This is actually really awesome considering that at age 11 I weighed 226 pounds...so it's taken me a long time to get here, but it's the journey and the lessons learned that matter. I can't wait to get to know more people through this site! In just the last three days I've found such inspiration from all of the forums I've read. |

| Does it count if I'm an American who just got back from living in the UK? :)
My boyfriend is English, so I spend a lot of time there. I have to say I lost a LOT of weight while I lived in London/Essex simply by walking instead of driving everywhere. We Americans have a very nasty habit of driving too often. I miss the UK. And Tesco. And Sainsbury's. Though I don't miss rush hour on the trains... |

| I'm kind of new to this (I'm actually using 5lb weights at home as well), but I would say that if you're comfortably using 5lb weights, maybe increase the reps/sets you do? This will make it more challenging. Just an idea :) | |||
