Bonna, I don't know what I'm going to do on the 4th (oh, yes, I do, unfortunately)!  We're going to a party with the theme:  Summer is short, eat dessert first.  That's right, just dessert.  It's a dessert buffet.  This may be worse than a BBQ with ribs and potato salad.

Nancy, what is a humpty-dumpty style?  You mean way up like Humpty Dumpty wore his pants?  That's kind of the pendulum swinging, isn't it?  Have fun with your guests!  Dee

Donna, I agree.  We have to be able to celebrate (and retreat from) life sometimes.  I just hae to look at where my habits were a month ago and compare to how I'm doing now.  I know that in the end I'll be better off even if I have a drink or a piece of cake.  This is a marathon, ladies, not a 50-yard dash.  Thank God.

I'm home!  Sorry to get in on this late, but better late than never.  Starting with today:

Weight: 159.2;  Water:only 17 oz so far, but 85 oz. yesterday; Exercise:  um, I don't think watering the garden counts, so nothing.  But yesterday I got up before God (6 am!!!) and went for a four mile walk.  I also played Wii Tennis with my girlfriend, but that probably doesn't count either.  I guess I'll go accomplish something now....

So, am I the only one that still has her gallbladder? I guess I should be grateful for my complete body, even if there's more of it than I want.

I've never tried pilates, (it looks too complicated), but if you ladies say it's worth it, maybe I'll try it.  I visited friends out of town Monday and Tuesday, and they both signed up for CC!  We got up before 6 am and walked four miles.  Man, are they good for me!

Elaine, that activity list cracks me up, too.  It even includes what you do once you get to the outhouse!  I hope I'm not so desperate that I need to log that.

Donna, I read a post last night that asked what you'd spend to weigh less.  Of course, we'd all give up some cash to have that miracle drug that really worked.  So I went to the store and bought water.  For some reason, I drink it better out of a bottle. (yeah, I know....)  I also bought some lemon-flavored water.  I'm worht the extra $$. You are, too.

1. I'm loyal

2. Of all the "kids," I'm most like my dad

3. I'm proud of the kids I (we) have raised

4. I have great hair

5. I love my job: teaching "difficult" teenagers

Kangeroo and aasil, how do you get your post to single space?

Hey, I'd feel proud of myself that I only had ONE piece of cake!  Give yourself a pat on the back.  You're doing great.

Hi Elaine & everybody else!

I just got in from a bike ride.  My husband is a big (fast) biker, and I can't keep up, so we bought a tandem.  We get to spend some time together, and I'm learning some techniques to be a better rider.  It helps to have him push me a little, especially when I haven't been out all day.

I was really good today with calories! (yea me!)  Yesterday I was good until about this time, when I decided to reward myself with a wine cooler.  OMGosh! 488 calories in that stupid thing!  Not even worth it.  So today I went to the store and bought a ton of fresh fruit.  I can binge on bing cherries and melon and not regret it.  All that to say, Elaine, don't snack!  You will feel good about yourself at the end of the day.  Those extra calories will only make you feel bad in the end.  Be strong; I know you can!

Bonna,

I'd be up for a challenge, but I'm no good at thinking them up.  Now that my class is over and I can focus on me-me-me (and not be tempted by muffins in the morning and cookies in the afternoon!), I'm ready to start hitting this thing hard.

Ok, I've added you to my friends list.  Add me too.  Notgivingup, I agree with you about all the "little people."  I just joined last week, and I was begining to think I was the only "old lady.".

I'm very proud of myself.  I just rode my bike for an hour, even though it's going to be 90+ today.  I'd pat myself on the back, but I might pull a muscle!

Florida Smoothie for two:

6 oz plain, non-fat yogurt, 8 oz orange juice, 1 banana.  I'm not a big yogurt fan, but this tastes fresh.  (about 160 calories) I sprinkle a little wheat germ in when I want to feel extra healthy ;)

I'd love to join! I'm 44.  I used to be a skinny little thing, but life happened, and here I am looking like a fat old lady.  If it's not the aches and pains keeping me from exercising, its my inner thermostat.  When did it get so hot in here?

I just signed up today.  My daughter's wedding is next June, and it's time to loose the baby fat!  I'm looking at this summer as a summer of change.  It's time to take hold of my life, instead of my life taking hold of me.  I get emotional just typing that, so I know it's time.  I hope we can all help each other!  Good luck.
