Dark chocolate almonds sounds like they would be a great snack.  Dark chocolate is the healthiest chocolate, and almonds have tons of fat that is good for you!

Another thing that you should try that I ABSOLUTELY love are Kellogg's Dark Chocolate Almond Fiber Plus bars.  They taste SENSATIONAL -- just like a candy bar, and they have 130 calories and 35% of your DV of fiber, as well as some other nutricious stuff.  I have one every day and just stocked up my kitchen with some more today.  =)

honestly it sounds like your thyriod has gone from hypo to hyper.
hopefully you will just need to have your thyriod med adjusted - get in to see your doctor.

best of luck.

I def think sfredbull is right, I have hypothyroidism and they upped my meds too far once and that is how my body reacted.  Def call your doc and get your levels checked again.

I third this.  I think the thyroid medication dosage may be too high, causing your thyroid to be hyper.  Please visit a doctor as soon as you can if you're experiencing symptoms as bad as those.

Might I recommend Jamaica?  =)  My fiance and I will be going there for our Honeymoon... the flight down there is pretty quick, and for seven days, the entire trip is costing us $3,011 INCLUDING air fare.  We're going to an all-inclusive resort called Couples Negril, and EVERYTHING is included... scuba diving, snorkeling, catamaran cruises, cliff diving, and so much more!  I hear the food is EXQUISITE and absolutely to-die-for.  You can just relax on the beach and stick a red flag in the sand, and someone will come up and ask what you'd like to drink.  =)  Just lock your wallets and passports in the safe once you get there... no paying for anything and no tipping.  I hear the culture down there, even at the resorts, is just fantastic.

Good luck planning your trip!

I'm 5' 3" and 115 pounds, and I absolutely love it.  Laughing

Only thing is that I'm not fit at all, so I'm just trying to lose a bit of fat and gain a bit of muscle, but I still want to stay at 115 pounds.  I could lose a bit more if I wanted to, but something tells me that'll all come straight from my chest.  Haha.

I've only had Korean food a handful of times, but I agree that Bulgogi is AWESOME.  Galbi is really great too.  I also try to fill up on the sides... the kimchi, tofu, seaweed, etc.

Have fun on your date!  Korean food is SO yummy, so enjoy it.  =)

Good morning, all!  Just wanted to weigh in today... I'm at 122.2, which is a half pound higher than I was last week.  I'm not too worried though.. I'm really trying to go slow and steady with the weight loss this time.

I do have a bit of a rant though.  Last night, I was having dinner with my boyfriend, his mom, his brother, and his brother's girlfriend.  His mom wanted ideas for what to get me for Christmas, and I said that I wanted new jeans.  I had told this to my boyfriend last week, and so he followed it up with, "She's a size 2."  A face of total shock came from my his brother's girlfriend and his mom.  They kept staring at my legs and blurted out, "NUH-UH," over and over again in total disbelief.  I'm not going to lie... I was a little offended.  His mom said that her mom was like tiny old lady that weighed 100 pounds and was a size 6 and there was no possible way that I was a size 2.  Later, I found out that apparently my boyfriend had dated this girl like nine years ago during his sophomore year of high school that was a size 2 and she was "sickeningly skinny" and so that's how his family perceives a size 2 to be.  Well, for one thing, I'm 5' 3", and my boyfriend's brother's girlfriend is 5' 7" and a size 6 and his mom is like 5' 9" and... about size 12 (she recently gained a lot of weight from quitting smoking)?  So they have to understand that a size 2 for me is a different proportion on MY body than a size 2 would be for them.  To have them look at me as if I was lying and to stare at my body up and down like there's no way I could be a size 2 was extremely disturbing on my part.

Anyway, it has been aggravating me ever since last night, and I just wanted to rant a little bit... though I'm now channeling those comments into motivation to lose these final 8 pounds and tone up a bit.  Tongue out

Menu today:

B: Coffee and Special K bar

L: Chicken noodle soup, couple slices of summer sausage, and a white peach

My friend did a really cute thing last year that I was upset I didn't think of it first!  Her boyfriend was Howie Mandel from "Deal or No Deal" and she was one of the models with a numbered briefcase... it opened and everything!  She just glammed herself up and crafted herself a nice case.  Her boyfriend's sister even was a model and the three of them walked around together all night, but I'm sure that just as a couple, it would work out very well too!

Hahaha... funny you guys mention sushi.  My boyfriend and I have been craving it all week, so we're going out for sushi tonight.  =)  Just make good choices and even indulge a little!  Most of it is so healthy... I usually get pretty satisfied even before the sushi comes -- Miso soup, salad with carrot ginger dressing, and edamame... yum.  We normally get fairly healthy rolls, though my boyfriend does usually enjoy one roll with something deep fried in it.  =)

Hi all... Sorry I've been kind of absent ever since my soup craving.  =)  Speaking of which, my boyfriend's mom is teaching me how to make her famous beef vegetable soup this Sunday while the boys are watching football.  I'm excited since she normally only makes it just once a year, but she's making an exception for me this time!  And it's all inspired by soup talk in this thread.  =)

Jkub... I seriously would just shrug off the weekend.  I order to actually gain two to three "real" pounds, you would have had to eaten 7,000-10,500 calories over MAINTENANCE within those three days.  Assuming your maintence level is similar to mine and around 1,700, you would have had to eaten 4,033-5,200 PER DAY for the three days to actually gain those pounds.  Maybe you did, but even so, it's not that big of a deal!

I know exactly how the reaching-a-good-weight-and-then-go-out-of-con trol thing goes far too well.  I used to be 137 and a few months later, I got down to 123 and somehow went on a rampage and ate 4,000-6,000 calories DAILY for a month.  Ugh, it was terrible.  That was pretty much almost exactly a year ago... I'm proud to say that, I'm not sure how exactly I did it, but I haven't binged a SINGLE time since then.  =)

One thing that has really helped me is keeping the mentality, "If you're hungry... eat."  I don't see any reason why you shouldn't eat if your body is telling you that it's hungry and you need food.  On the same note though, it makes me really ask myself if I'm really hungry or if I'm just bored... or if I'm just thinking about food so constantly that I THINK I'm hungry.  So when I'm actually hungry and grab something to eat, it makes me feel guilty when I'm not hungry (and it's not meal time) and I eat, so I never do.

I'm down from 123 to 122.4.  It's not much, but I'm counting on the "slow and steady" approach.  =)  You all sound like you're doing great!  Smile

Recipes Healthy or low-cal vanilla cake? Sep 22 2008
00:19 (UTC)

The best "light" trick that I always use is the classic diet soda one.  When I bake chocolate cakes, I always just grab one of those prepackaged cake mixes and mix it with a can of diet coke instead of eggs, oil, and what not.  Then for the icing, I would just mix light cool whip with a package of dry chocolate pudding.

With vanilla cake, I would just do diet 7up.  Then, I'm sure you could mix cool whip with dry vanilla pudding.

Motivation Downward Cycle - I don't know what to do Sep 19 2008
18:25 (UTC)

Hi, Makeupdiva.

I had a very similar situation about a year ago.  I found CC and was very grateful... it helped me lose 14 pounds after I found out I had a thyroid problem that got the best of me, which was 10% of my weight at the time, and I was extremely happy.  I went from 137 to 123.  I found that calorie counting eventually drove me crazy...

Sometimes I would be at 1,000 calories before noon even hit because I gave into some snacks... then I figured my plan for 1,200 calories for the day was shot, so I would end up eating 4,000 to 5,000 calories EVERY day for about a month.  It was an uncontrollable cycle... and the more I did it, the more depressed I was about gaining the weight back that I worked so hard to lose, and the more I ate.  It was terrible.  I would bake cakes in 13"x9" pans, slather it with frosting, and eat it all in one day... I'd have a jar of peanut butter with a box of graham crackers, and that would be my "breakfast" over the course of three days (when I finished the jar and the box).  I would eat an entire gallon of ice cream for dinner.  I would go get some Taco Bell and realize the drive thru line was too long, so I would get something at McDonald's and eat it to get me through WAITING IN THE DRIVE THRU LANE of Taco Bell.  I stopped a fast food restaurant once or twice every day.  A lot of times I would even break down and cry WHILE I was still eating, yet I continued to finish what I was eating.  It was truly extremely depressing, and I gained eight pounds in one month doing so, so I shot up from 123 to 131.

I decided to take a break from counting calories... I actually stopped visiting this site up for about a year up until earlier this week.  I still binged for about another week, but I soon began to just listen to what my body wanted instead of thinking about food all day and wondering how many exact calories were in everything and whether or not I was going over my daily goal.  I didn't even make a goal actually... I gave up everything regarding calories altogether.  I'm happy to say that in about four months, I came back down to 123 without even counting anything, and I've been maintaining it ever since.  I haven't even set foot in a gym in a year.

It took me a while to relearn not caring about calories, but it was a relief to eat what I wanted whenever I wanted to by listening to my body, instead of what I was doing before -- binging because I didn't meet my goal or because my day was already ruined by what I had already eaten.  To be honest, I don't even think I was hungry most of the time I was binging... I was binging just to binge, and towards the end of a binge, I remember getting so full where I felt like I had to throw up, but I would still keep eating whatever I was just to finish it.  Somehow, I felt like whenever I opened a bag of chips or anything, I had predetermined that I was going to down the whole thing before I stopped.

I just thought I'd share my story and let you know that you aren't alone and as bad as it seems, it happens.  What worked for me was to stop counting calories for a while... stop worrying about setting a goal and obtaining it, and just listen to your body and what it wants.  It sounds counterproductive to weight loss, but it certainly got me out of downward spiral.  It may take some time... you've just got to figure out when you're actually hungry or when you're eating just to eat or to "get back at yourself" or something along those lines.  Another thing that worked for me was that I separated myself from the environment of when I would binge.  I would normally do it when I was home alone, so I would go over to my boyfriend's place and hang out with him.  Or I'd go to the campus library and do some homework over there.  Really, just anything to separate myself from when I knew I was likely to start binging.  Just stop worrying about losing weight for the moment, and just get yourself to stop binging for the moment.  Once you can do that, whether it be tomorrow, next week, or a month from now, THEN decide when it's time to start dieting again and to start losing the weight again.

I know it's tough, but I hope my advice helped at least a little bit.  Let me know if you need anything further, and hang in there.  Smile
