if it was anything specific/recent, i can't imagine what. quote:
Igor CC Admin
Complaints about your forum posts Hi, It hurts me to do this to long-term members, but I'll have to ask you to be less controversial in your forum posts. I have been receiving complaints about some of the things you said on the forums for a very long time (could be as far back as 2007), and while you may not be in explicit violation of our rules, the amount of workload that your posts create for our moderators is more than we can handle. This is your first warning, and while I am confident that we won't have to escalate this further, please understand that the next step would be to shut off your access to this site (deletion of user account and IP block). You've been with us longer than most other users, and I would hate to see that happen. In health, |

ali, was that squeakie fromme? she's one crazy chick! honestly, it doesn't bother me one bit that they sent this guy back to libya to die. even if he's guilty, he's definitely not solely responsible, and maybe releasing him will induce him to give up the others. and dying of prostate cancer in libya isn't exactly a luxury vacation. |

beer was my downfall, too. i rarely drink beer now: my summer drink of choice is vodka soda; winter it's red wine. i don't deprive myself of beer, and will have a pint (or two) on a patio when i feel like it, but i don't ever want to drink more than two anymore. it's just too filling! i will tell you, though, that i quit drinking for seven weeks a couple of years ago and lost nine pounds (that's fast for me). that, more than anything, made me realize that alcohol was my biggest barrier to losing. it was a good experiment. |

most spices and herbs have no calories to speak of, many have fibre, and they make the difference between bland, boring meals and ineresting, exciting ones. you really have to experiment and find out what you like; by in bulk so you can get small amounts and save the cost of jars. to gia's list i would add: coriander, cumin, tarragon, chilli powder, and chilli flakes. and don't forget ordinary ground pepper and salt; just keep the salt to a minimum. |

Original Post by safina1: of course. here's how that process goes: this is what i want. can i have it? (notice, that's a yes/no question, with the possibility of "later.") i'm not saying that decisions aren't hard, saf. i'm saying that you've already made the decision and you're here looking for your justification for it. |

| Health & Support | abortion and weight gain? | Aug 20 2009 19:53 (UTC) |

unless the procedure damaged your reproductive organs (extremely unlikely), your hormones should have returned to normal within a few weeks. weight is virtually always a function of diet and activity. it's unlikely that the two are related. maybe look at what else was going on in your life at the time. a car accident and two broken ankles? maybe some related stress and emotional turmoil? personally, i believe that weight gain (and unhealthy weight loss, for that matter) are usually triggered by emotions, not by physiology. |

saf, you have a long history of posting questions when you've already decided on the answer. it's pretty clear that you're going with option 1 (the place with no oven, right?). if this were really a dilemma, you wouldn't have written off option 2 with the phrase "not comfortable enough." if you're looking for a way to rationalize option 1, here it is: option 1 will give me the privacy to focus on my studies and a kitchen--albeit small--to prepare healthy meals. when i'm finished my course work, i'll be qualified for the better job, so savings won't be so important. there. you can thank me later. |

M-F 8-4, 1/2 hour unpaid lunch, 2 paid 15m breaks. i usually skip the breaks, take 45 for lunch, and leave 15m early :) the 8-4 is my choice, too; as long as i'm there for meetings, rounds, etc. i can start and finish earlier or later, if i want. it's nice to be treated like a professional. |

i too think that tying weight loss to a wedding is a bad idea. there are a few problems with that kind of thinking: first, assuming that you make your goal, what happens the next day? once the pictures are taken and the dress is hanging in the closet again, do you go back to your old ways? second, what happens if you realize that you're not going to make your goal? all bets are off? third (and sorry for bringing this up, but...), what if you and the bf break up? you're awfully young to be thinking about marriage, and a lot can happen in six years. you need to lose weight for your health, not to look good in a 15 minute ceremony and in the pictures in your album. to answer your question, though, i'm 5'8" and was almost 170 and a size 12 (tight) at my heaviest. i think lili's estimate is very close: 175-185-ish at size 14, 185-195 at 16 is a pretty good bet. depends on body composition, frame size, how big your boobs are, etc., but trying to guess that right now is pretty futile. |

nobody else responded, so i guess i will. have you asked your credit card coompany to reduce your rate? sometimes they will, especially if they know you're thinking about cutting up the card. if that's not an option, then definitely get the loan and pay off the debt ASAP. just make sure you're absolutely clear on the terms. under what circumstances will you lose your car? if you're a week late on one payment? or if you miss three payments in a row? obviously, you're not intending to miss payments. but i doubt that you were intending to rack up all that debt at 25.99% either, so.... the other option, i guess, is to suck it up and sell the car and just pay the debt outright. |

Original Post by minuseighty: i think lots of things can interrupt or slow the process. parenting is near the top of the list, but substance abuse will do the trick, too, to a staggering extent. education - well, that's different. it's just a predictable, sheltered sort-of delay-of-real-life thing for a lot of people. i believe that emotional maturity is about achieving individuation. we're not born with that, obviously: we're born dependent. healthy, equal relationships require that partners achieve interdependence. and i don't believe we can get from dependence to interdependence (versus codependence) without being independent along the way. this connects to what augustnkate said: she needed to know that she would be okay on her own--and that her partner would be okay on his own--before they could be together. anyone who "can't imagine" not being with him/her (read: "can't imagine" being alone) is going to have a hard time achieving any kind of interdependence. you have to be able to imagine it. but i would never say that this is true for "everyone." |

until i live on the farm and milk the cows myself, i won't be drinking any unpasturized milk. i suspect that most of us long ago lost immunity to the kinds of bacteria that are in fresh milk, and the longer it's out of the cow, the more opportunity those bacteria have to multiply. |

Original Post by gotborked: being a parent (not just a mother; that's your prejudice, not mine) takes a great deal of energy (or it should). and--yes--it disrupts the maturation process. and no, i don't equate intellectual maturity with formal education. actually, i think that formal education can be almost as disruptive to maturation as parenting. |
