| Foods | Green tea? | Aug 07 2007 05:16 (UTC) |

| It's really an unproven claim as far as it speeding up your metabolism, it obviously contains antioxidants and caffeine like coffee, so if you drink several glasses a day you'll have some more energy. There are 30-60 mg of caffeine in a cup of green tea, versus about 100 mg in a cup of coffee. I drink it every day, 2-3 glasses but it's mainly for the antioxidants, I don't really get a jolt from it like some people do. | |||
| Foods | pears or apples | Aug 07 2007 05:10 (UTC) |

| I prefer small pears as a snack just based on taste, smaller apples tend to taste bitter to me. There's more fiber in pears too, so that's a plus ;] | |||
| Foods | store-bought tortillas that don't taste like plastic? | Aug 03 2007 20:50 (UTC) |
|
| Great Value Corn Tortillas have great flavor. They're only 98 calories for 2 small ones [they have 20 g of carbs so if you're watching carbs then just have one.] They're perfect for lunch or dinner. I cut them up, bake them and eat them with salsa for a snack ;] | |||
| Weight Loss | how come????????? | Aug 03 2007 20:30 (UTC) |

| Metabolism and genetics. It's so unfair :P I look at it this way, there are sprinters and long distance runners. Just because someone is thin, never exercises and eats whatever they want doesn't make them healthy..they're sprinters, they aren't in it for the long haul in life because eventually the metabolism drops and then they'll get diseases or conditions. The long distance runners as I call them, which might be overweight, still exercise and take food in moderation because they want to maintain or lose weight. They're in it for life. To me that's what matters, not being a size 0, just maintaining a healthy lifestyle which can be really hard at times, but I'm trying ;) | |||
| Fitness | Sweat | Jul 29 2007 01:50 (UTC) |

| I don't sweat a lot either, since losing weight my metabolism completely changed so now I'm more cold than anything. This is the first summer where I haven't felt like I'm dying from all the heat. When I exercise I rarely sweat which makes me feel like a bit of a "exercising failure" =\ | |||
| Health & Support | TLC documentary "I Eat 33,000 Calories a Day" | Jul 29 2007 01:34 (UTC) |
12 |
| That documentary scared the hell out of me. Even at my heaviest weight I never ate like that or sat around and had people feed me. Those people suffered from mental illness. To consume that much food in one day is just beyond me, I couldn't stomach it let alone ever do it. I'm far from insensitive, but sitting like that and eating all of that food, it was just insane and far more than just unhealthy. They were eating themselves to death. It was really hard to watch. All documentaries on weight are difficult to watch for me personally, but this one was the hardest go get through. | |||

| Foods | low cal alcoholic drinks??? | Jul 29 2007 01:10 (UTC) |

| None of it is low in calories or low in carbs, taking straight shots [50-60 calories per shot] is better than consuming fruity drinks or drinks made with regular soda. | |||
| Foods | How about Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice, etc. ? | Jul 29 2007 01:04 (UTC) |

| I eat them every once in a while, I'm not a huge fan of them. My favorite one from Lean Cuisine is the salmon with whole wheat pasta and I love the Healthy choice chicken with rice..it's got broccoli and some type of apple dessert..it's really good. They can be high in sodium but if you balance out the rest of your day then you should be okay :) | |||
| Foods | Panda Express = not too bad | Jul 29 2007 00:44 (UTC) |

| Ooo Panda Express, I miss that place :P I've never had there shrimp, but it sounds good. The veggies are pretty tasty. That orange chicken makes my mouth water..it's a good that the only one I know of is 45 minutes away in a large shopping mall, lol. | |||
| Motivation | Who's 5'8? What's your goal? | Jul 29 2007 00:35 (UTC) |

| diorbaby - You may have a small frame but 105-110 is not an okay weight for someone that's 5'8'', going under 120 is beyond pushing it. Be careful <3
I'm 5'8'' with a large frame and right now I'm around 170, I've lost over 90 pounds but I'm looking to be at 150-155 and when that number rolls around, I'll see if I want to lose more weight. I would never go under 145 because of my frame, I would look incredibly sick :P |

| Weight Loss | Binging: Break the Addiction | Jul 29 2007 00:18 (UTC) |

| I did it the other day, it was my first time doing it in a long long time. I just completely spaced out and started eating random foods when I wasn't even hungry. I think I do it from stress and we didn't have anything remotely healthy to eat so I ended up eating foods that were unhealthy and that led to purging. It's difficult to get over doing it, it can be compulsive at times, wanting to do it, but I've done it a lot less in the past month. It can eat at you if you let it, but I'm definitely trying to have more self control and realize that food isn't my enemy. I hope we all can help each other with it, it's a bad problem and it doesn't seem to just dissapear like people assume it would. | |||
| Foods | midnight snack | Jul 22 2007 04:04 (UTC) |

| I've had this problem before, especially if I exercised really hard. I find myself wanting something small. Once I took a few sips of a Slim Fast, that worked for me. Broccoli and cucumbers is filling too. When you're awake and you should be sleeping, it's common to want food. A piece of cinnamon toast might work since cinnamon stabilizes blood sugar. | |||
| Foods | Weird - Obsessed with food? (or Food Network) | Jul 22 2007 03:54 (UTC) |

| I definitely do this. I'm a Food Network addict and sometimes I'm shocked by what they cook and the fact that most of the hosts use the 4 no-nos in every dish [sugar, salt, fat and butter.] Paula Deen..omg, my heart jumps when I watch that woman cook, lol. Once I started learning more about food and how it works in the body and counting calories, I've committed a lot to memory on this..you just become so much more aware of what you're eating and what everyone else is eating. It can drive you crazy sometimes watching other people eat food you want to eat and you know you can't because of the calories and nutritional content. Food can be such a wonderful beautiful thing, it's a shame that we as consumers have to make it unhealthy ;\
*My advice: Never watch the Food Network on an empty stomach :P |

| Foods | Healthy options at fast food places? | Jul 22 2007 03:49 (UTC) |
|
| The Asian salad at McDonalds is only 300 calories without dressing [you don't need it, it's marinated chicken] and on their website the ingredients include the almond slivers so if you don't eat those it might be only 240 calories, I'm not sure. The Fruit-N-Yogurt parfait is only 160 calories with the granola and it's really satisfying. Wendy's has a Mandarin Chicken salad that's only 170 calories without dressing and toppings. | |||

| This is my club! Yay! I've lost over 90 pounds so far and these last 20 don't seem to want to leave my frame :P I started losing weight last August so I'm almost at a year. It's taken some time, but it's been worth it. Hopefully I'll get these last 20 off before October or November *pretty please* | |||

| Alcohol in moderation, every once in a while isn't a total killer when it comes to weight loss. Would it be better to avoid it? Sure, but you have to let loose every once in a while or you'll go crazy :P | |||
| Weight Loss | eating on vacation | Jul 22 2007 02:55 (UTC) |
1 |
| I just went on vacation and I did really well. My family had home made spaghetti and I ate two small pieces of fish for dinner, we stopped at a gas station for food once and I got a salad and mixed it with canned tuna. The only time I allowed myself to splurge was when we went on the boardwalk, I ate part of a funnel cake. That was my fried food allowance for the month. The best thing to do is find healthier alternatives, which can be tricky when you're on the go. If you eat out and it's something you know isn't healthy, just eat half of it and leave half on the plate, don't bother taking it home for the next day. Drink lots of water, walk around more and allow yourself a treat, you are on vacation :D | |||
| Health & Support | Blemishes!!! | Jul 22 2007 02:46 (UTC) |

| You might be drying your face out by washing it twice a day. You should exfoliate and moisturize along with washing your face. If you have sensitive skin then using products with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide will make your acne worse. You should stay away from make up for a week until it clears up and make sure to wash your sheets/pillowcase. Those things are breeding grounds for bacteria which is what causes acne. | |||

| I just posted in the other club, it was my first time. I'm not sure if I should post here too, but I definitely don't want to be a "I'm so fat, I ate 10 extra calories, blah blah blah." I definitely want to give support and get support from people. I started binging, purging and restricting last December when I stopped losing weight. I went down to 500 calories a day which led to the binging and purging. It strikes me every few weeks or when I'm stressed out or upset. I really hope to give and recieve support by being in this club. If anyone ever needs to talk feel free to send me a message or contact me through AIM.
To carmenxox - Everyone has their own plan when it comes to dieting or losing weight, not every program works for everyone. I watch the carbs, I avoid high starch/white foods as much as possible. I try to stay away from too many processed foods because of the additives. Lean protein works better for me, I don't feel sluggish or like I've overeaten after I eat protein. I don't go protein crazy though. It really depends on what you're looking for when it comes to losing weight/gaining muscle or maintaining your current weight. |

| Today was the first day since May that I had attempted to make myself vomit. I was really upset because I had been arguing with a family member so I binged on 2 rolls with jelly and then I stuck my toothbrush down my throat. I only did it a few times, because I was trying to relax and not continue doing it. I've been doing it since last December, along with restricting and I thought I had stopped doing it completely, but like I said, I did it in May. I usually do it when I feel like I have no control over a situation or I don't have anyone to talk to about my problems. It's really hard to not do it all the time, but I've been able to control myself and focus my mind on something else. I still restrict, but I have bad days where I binge and it's mainly due to stress and being unhappy with my current situation. I wanted to do it again today when I ate a snack I thought was only 170 calories but turned out to be 370, I could have thrown myself against the wall, it was terrible.
Does anyone else lack this control at times and turn to old habits of an ED? Does it just all of a sudden hit you or is it a constant struggle when it comes to food? |

| Oatmeal with a pear can keep me full for almost 4 hours, sometimes longer. Beans, broccoli and spinach are also really filling when it comes to lunch/dinner. | |||

| Foods | calories in SUCRETS? | Jul 22 2007 02:08 (UTC) |

| No definite answer, but you're looking at 5-10 calories per drop, it's the same with gum and mints. | |||
| Foods | How much egg white = 1 egg? | Jul 22 2007 01:58 (UTC) |
2 |
| Eggs are debatable. If you have high cholesterol you should obviously avoid them. Experts say you shouldn't eat more than 4 a week if you have low cholesterol because they have fat and saturated fat in them. I eat egg whites for the protein, you get the same amount in 2 egg whites that you would get in 1 whole egg :) | |||
| Foods | How do I make the carrots and celery interesting!? | Jul 22 2007 01:52 (UTC) |

| Adding spices is good, salsa is good too. I know it sounds weird but salsa is really flavorful with veggies. I also love eating boiled carrots with an onion, the onion gets sweet..yum ;) | |||
| Foods | NEW! Sun Chips - Cinnamon | Jul 22 2007 01:35 (UTC) |

| Those are really good, I tried them last week, they remind me of Taco Bell's Cinnamon Twists but not as sweet. They're a "once in a while" treat and might be healthier then regular potato chips or a chocolate bar, but they are by no means conducive for someone that's trying to lose weight ;\ | |||
| Foods | Love Special K | Jul 22 2007 01:27 (UTC) |

| I've never heard of Special K Light Museli, but we do have several varieties of Special K. I try to avoid dry cereal though, it's addictive and the carbs don't do me any good. I stick with my oatmeal :P | |||
