21:08 (UTC)

oh my gosh i totally understand the cereal downfall. i've officially stopped buying it, or i buy the mini boxes that don't even have the kinds i really like in it.  Honey Bunches of Oats are AMAAAAAAAAZINNNNNNNG and I polish off a box of that in a couple days. The HBO is, indeed trying to kill us all. I had the binging problem (with a lot of kinds of foods actually) myself particularly bad for a few months, and I HATED that out of control feeling.  Now, although I'm still struggling to stay under my calorie target, I have finally stopped buying all my trigger foods, and its been working. Although i haven't lost anything yet, its been a couple weeks since I've binged, and let me tell you, it feels GREAT! so sure, i know, we don't want to give up the foods we love, but if it makes you feel better, it may be worth it. hang in there you can do it!

Hey everyone!

Here's to a great month! Last month was AWFUL! Here's what I'm improving on starting NOW!

  • Drink more water
  • Keep within my calorie count every single day (I dont know if I did it more than 3 times last month ugh!)
  • Weigh in with my groups ON TIME!
  • Lose 5 pounds by start of December, and 5 more by Christmas! WOOHOO!

and here's the finale folks...something I have yet to EVER do for a month....GIVE UP SWEETS! THATS RIGHT! I'M GOING FOR THE GOLD! The only exception will be one sweet on Thanksgiving Day.  THATS IT. Cold TURKEY! I'm excited!

We can totally do this guys, I know so! Please, anyone who is excited like me, hold me accountable! If anyone wants to be November buddies, let me know.

Current Weight: 142.2 pounds

Progress this week: up 1.6 pounds :-(

Horray for me: i still haven't had a major binge and i've only bough mini cereal boxes rather than the big ones.

Needs Improvement: I'm STILL consistently over my target calorie count. i might have gained because I started lifting though, too.  but i'm pretty sure i just need to cut the count down to a decent deficit.  it's just been tough with all the late night studying to keep track well, but i know I can do it! in fact, i just through out the candy i had in my room. HERE WE GO i'm Ms. strict 2000 calories!

Hey! would you guys mind if I joined the group too?  I'm a Junior in college, and have been on the weight loss kick since gaining the freshman fifteen. (well, twelve).  I lost those going into my sophomore year by finding this website and starting to exercise.  Then after reaching my goal, i stopped logging and started BINGING.  After a rough year, i was horrified to find out i gained practically all of it back.  so this summer i kicked it into gear again and have been more careful, so it's been slower (i think i went too fast last time).  but i'm determined to make this a LIFESTYLE change not just a weight loss goal.  and its soooo hard in college as you all know.  late night studying and partying and lack of sleep, its a recipe for disaster, but together i know we can overcome it and WOW our families at christmas! anyway, here are my stats:

5'6''

CW:140lbs

GW for 12/25/08:135lbs

End goal weight (Sometime in february HOPEFULLY): 130lbs

good luck everyone!

Thursday weigh in:

Current Weight: 140.6 pounds

Progress this week: -.6 pound

Horray for me: i haven't binged since I've been back and started logging more strictly! YAYYYY!!!!! AND i owe a lot of this to not keeping cereal in the house.  there's no need for it and if i make it harder to get these easy snack foods, not only will i spend less money, but i'll make healthier choices! FINALLY I FEEL IN CONTROL AGAIN!

Needs Improvement: I'm consistently over my target calorie count.

Great job everyone! I am so proud of everyone who's trying so hard what a great inspiring community to be a part of! keep up the great work!

Hi, all! I haven't been on here anytime lately because I got a horrible cold in the midst of midterms so was basically running, sleeping, studying and, of course, eating.  luckily amidst the craziness I didn't gain much  weight, so I'm ready to pick up again.  To everyone who has kept losing- GREAT WORK! success stories are so wonderful to hear about, and so motivational.

Current Weight: 141.2 pounds

Progress this week: ? (I didn't weigh in last week)

Horray for me: I'm becoming more strict about logging in EVERYTHING and therefore am getting a much better picture of what I'm eating on a daily basis.

Needs Improvement: Now that I have buckled down and logged completely honestly, I see that I'm consistently over my target calorie count.  I am really going to work on staying under it now that the crazy schedule is going to be more consistent with my 5 exams over with.

Good luck everyone!

Current Weight:
I'm not sure because my scale seems to be broken...digital and won't turn on, so I'm getting new batteries and I'll let you know tomorrow! Ahh!

Progress This Week: ??we'll find out soon!

Hooray for Me: I have such a weakness for vending machine snacks, but yesterday I thought about it a million times (whenever I passed one) and said no every single time! It may seem like a small thing, but hey, every bit helps haha.

Needs Improvement: Late night eating is suuuuuch a downfall for me! I stay up till too late after dinner and start off with cereal and it goes downhill from there. I'm definitely going to start only having ONE nighttime snack (none is just impossible) right now! Woohoo!

Stay strong everyone! :)

EDIT!: fixed my scale...it reads 140.2, but this is after i ate a delicious dinner which was huge (all within my cal count though) and desert. so i think if i would've weighed in this morning when i normally weigh in it would've been lower---so I think i actually lost a pound.  estimate i know, but I really do feel good about it!

Thanks so much for letting me join!

theluckiest, I really appreciate your support and your tips.  I'll definitely try to plan out what I'll eat for the day and try to stick to it.  I really am motivated to answer to your challenge, I like the idea of someone holding me accountable! As far as foods that are my weakness-- SWEETS. Always has been a problem for me ever since I was little.  I LOVE SWEETS, all kinds, and I really need to learn moderation. I'm super healthy as far as not eating fried food or fatty food, but with sweets, I am all about the cookies and frozen yogurt.  I also, as a classic college student, LOVE cereal and just keep eating and eating and eating it once I start.  Instead of giving up these foods, which just makes me think about it more and feel bad (I've done it successfully but wasn't happy actually), I think I really just need to become more controlled. Everything in moderation.  I try not to keep sweets in my apartment, but definitely love having cereal around, although maybe I should try to not have it here.  Sweets are everywhere, cereal is mainly just in the cafeteria if I didn't stock up on it in my apartment.

My typical day is to get up, jog 4-10 miles, eat breakfast (usually I'm super good in the morning and can control it plus don't have much time anyway) which is generally oatmeal or a light english muffin and an apple.  Then I have class and I generally bring a snack--like a Luna bar or nature valley bar or banana--and have that when I get hungry if it's before lunch.  For lunch, I usually make a sandwich and have a yogurt or have a gigantic salad (I LOVE SALAD!) Then I typically have more class until dinner which usually is whole grain pasta, a salad, or a salad and sandwich, or something of the sort.  Then its time for homework and THEN its trouble time for snacking.  Once I get past dinner I just snack snack snack. Which is awful and definitely reeks havoc on my stomach at night when i try to sleep.

Thanks again for reading this and any tips you may have would be greatly appreciated! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi everyone! I saw your call for new blood so is it ok if I join you all in your fight?

I'm a college student, junior year.  I started CC the summer after my freshman year, so I guess it's been about a year and 3 months.  After freshman year, I was about 147, and wanted to lose those dreaded freshman fifteen, so I found this site, started running like crazy (I love it sooo much now--about 4-10 miles a day 6 days a week) and was REALLY good about counting that summer, and lost the weight I wanted.  I got down to about 132, then came back to school and realized I'd reached my goal.  With the increased activity level of being back at school AND running the same amount as I had that summer, I guess my metabolism went crazy and I was hungry ALL the time and eating way over my cal count but still losing for a little while.  Eventually I started making unhealthy decisions and lost motivation/will power, making me unhappy to realize I was 143 by the end of sophomore year.  This summer, I tried hard to get back into it but didn't have much success.  I'm at about 139 now, and having a lot of trouble actually.  Now that I'm back in school, again I'm eating over my cal count nearly every day and naturally not losing.  Luckily I haven't gained yet but I've become incredibly hard on myself and have some eating-disorder tendencies (binge/purge every once in awhile).  I feel like I'm fighting myself constantly with this and I really, really want to reach my goal of 130 but don't know how to get out of this awful unhealthy mode.

Sorry for that incredibly long story, but its the first I've talked/posted about it to ANYONE so I really appreciate it if anyone managed to stay awake haha and I'd really appreciate any tips people have about not beating themselves up.  What do you do when you go over?  I know you're supposed to start fresh each day, but I just can't stand that I'm not losing.  Grrr FRUSTRATION!

Anyway, thanks again for your time and I hope together we can stay motivated!

Hey! I'm 20 and want to lose some pounds! I am currently 140ish, would like to be 130, maybe 125 if possible. A support group sounds good to hold each other accountable. Goal date is september 13th for 135, then re-assess from there for each 5 pound loss.

priceless7, i've had some problems with alcohol as well, and my brother is a recovering alcoholic, just so you know i am here if ya wanted some support.

what should we do as far as checking in? maybe once a week or something? or just whenever we feel like it?

Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum, but it seems like an excellent way to support eachother and I definitely have difficulties binging--only with sweets.  Instead of having a sweet tooth, I must admit that I have a mouth full of sweet teeth. But I am sick of being controlled by this addiction!  Everytime I try to give up sweets, I can usually do it, but then I get bored, and start eating them a little, and then it just is a downward slope and I'm back to buying packs of cookie dough (the refridgerated toll house kind) and eating them in a day.  By myself.  Without actually even needing to make any cookies.  *sigh*. So maybe if I keep track in here, I can actually stick to it.  My goal is to eliminate sweets completely for three days, then see where I'm at from there.  (I can't say forever, it freaks me out).  Hopefully I'll be able to reincorporate them into my diet without binging. I am so impressed by all of the people on here that make it weeks and months without binging, good job everyone! Sorry for the rant. :)
