| Motivation | How does eating at night affect your weight loss efforts?? Please Help!!! | Mar 04 2009 02:10 (UTC) |
2 |
if you consider 3500 calories =1 lb there is no way you gained 1.5 lbs in one night, and keep in mind your weight will fluctuate through out the day(some times by 5 lbs). Dont focus so much on the scale, only weigh your self once a week so you can see your average weight loss. I know its hard! lol but at least you wont obsess over every fluctuation. |

For me wanting isnt enough it has to involve a whole new way of thinking. So really I think it like reprograming the way I do things. And taking things one day at a time. I am the type of person who wants it right now! I hate waiting. so weight loss is very difficult for me to look at it like its a journey. I just dont have the patience. I am also a perfectionist so I am really hard on my self if I mess up durring the day. I am learning to take it easy and realize that it will happen but I have to keep at it and its ok to mess up once in a while! |

I have so many areas to work on that I have to just tackle them one at a time, or it starts to feel overwhelming! I have a bad sweet tooth so I dont buy snacks if I can help it. If I have snacks sitting by my desk when I am working I will eat the whole package! I so now I take outwhat I will allow myself for the day and hide the rest in a diffrent room. I also have to make sure I drink enough water. I am so busy durring the day I just forget. To make sure I drink enough I try to always have a glass of water next to me when I am working, I just slowly drink water the whole time.

LOL< yeah I KNOW supersized!! Im just feeling frustrated because I used to be one of those freaks of nature that could eat what ever I wanted and not gain a ounce!! It was my last baby and these meds that I am on that have done me in. I havent given up I know I can do this, I will just have to work harder. I do mix it up I mean I average around 1300 calories a day, and as far as the work outs go, that is always diffrent. I dont get to the gym on the same day each week and running around with the kids is never the same. Really though thanks for the advise, I really do need to look at the long run!! |

supersized- I have 4 kids ages 7, 8, 11, 12, so they are older and dont need to have me home ALL the time! I work 40 hours a week from 12 noon-8pm so I have to go to the gym in the morning, I just leave my younger ones under the charge of my 12 yr old. I work from home so that makes being a working mom easier on all of us! I really need some suggestions! I am not loosing much weight I have been at the same weight for 2 weeks! I have been sticking to around 1300 calories I am 5' 2' and I am at 140 right now with a goal of 120. My biggest problem is that I am on a heart medication that as a side affect lowers your metabolism! So since this inhibits weight loss Im really not sure what to do! This is very frustrating for me since really want to get back to looking like me! Any ideas? |

Woohoo! Its the weekend and I'm still on the wagon! I always have a hard time on the weekend so I am so happy I did it this week. I have been doing this for about 4weeks and now I really find it easier to stick with. I don't want to undo all I have been working for. Now that I seem to have my diet under control, my next step is to try to add more exercise. With 4 kids its harder that it used to be! I try to think of things I can do with them too, but some times I just want to go out on my own, you know get a little ME time. I only make it to the gym about 2-3 times a week, most of the time I have been trying to do extra things around the house as a form of working out. Its a good thing though, the house gets cleaner and all those projects that I have been meaning to do are starting to get done. |

I dont do it because I dont like the way it makes me feel. I drank a few times and I just makes me feel dizzy and out of it. I dont like feeling like that. I tried pot a total of 1 time. I hated it! I couldnt keep my train of thought and I didnt feel incontrol. I am never tempted to do it again. |

I work from home so It wouldnt affect me at all in that regard! My kids walk to school since its 3 blocks away so when school starts again It would still be ok! My husband dose have to drive to work and school so we would just cut out all my extra driving! I only do shopping on the weekend too. Really Im very lucky! It would be very irritating but it wouldnt kill us. |

skinnybyjune9th- Oh Im so sorry! My daughter had her apendix out about a yr ago. It was not a good experience. It had ruptured and we were VERY lucky, she was only in the hospital for 3 days not the 10 they told us it would be. She got over it real quick. At least you only have 3 little scars, they used to really cut you up! I know it is diffrent when your an adult, kids seem to heal alot faster! Just remember to eat healthy! the healthier you are the quicker you will heal. Listen to your body and dont over do it. |

Peera-just saw your post. Congrats!! I have 4 kids so I am definatly a veteran! One thing i found was that if I didnt eat the morning sickness got worse. You can try eating a few crackers before you even get out of bed in the morning or right after. Also the prenatal vitains I took had Iron in them, this made it MUCH worse! I had to ask my doc for chewable prenatal vitamins, they were easier on my stomach. For some reason one of the only things I could stomache was masked potatoes. You should not worry about weight loss when you are preg. but remember you are not really eating for two! The baby will take what it needs, I was told that I should only increase my calorie intake by about 500 calories. You may want to ask your doc about that. If you need any support or just want to talk feel free to email me! I have been there! |

momof2funykds- Not sure how healthy raisins are and I hate them by the way, but I figure they are better than all the suger they put in fruit snacks and my kids LOVE them. The only problem is they are bad on your teeth so you have to brush your teeth real well. I too sneak healthy food into my dinners, but there are certian things my family loves to have for dinner and Im not going to eat it! My kids are happy to eat healthy, my 8 yr old LOVES broccoli, and one of their fav. snacks is veggies and dip. I found that if I take a cup of cottage cheese and add powdered ranch mix to it (just enough to flavor it) and about 1-2 tsp of skim milk, then blend it till smooth with a hand blender, it makes a GREAT very low cal veggie dip, like about 20 cal or less per Tbs. My kids eat this like there is no end to it! |

I haven't had much time to do a real post! Being a mother of 4 doesn't always leave lots of time! I will try to get better at it. For the most part I am still on the wagon, slipped a few times but never fell off completely. I have a very sweet husband who is happy with the way I look, he is always telling me how beautiful I am , which I love, but because of this he isn't as supportive as I would like, by this I mean he keeps bringing junk into the house! I also have to cook separate meals for myself and the rest of the family, The kids eat healthy but most definatly need more calories than I do right now. So between family and working a full time job I am very busy. This group has been great at keeping me on the wagon because I know I have to account for falling off. I am also just sick of not being happy with the way Ilook. I am 5' 2.5" and I'm 140 right now I want to get down to 115-120 but I will see I may just shoot for 125 I will just keep loosing till I am happy with the way I look. I used to be a super small 100 lbs and I don't wish to be that small. My biggest problem is that I never had to work at being small I just was. Then after my 4th baby I broke my tail bone and was very inactive for several mo. got into bad habits and now my baby is 7 yr old and I need to get back to being me! My plan to stay on the wagon is to log what I eat every day. For me this works very well since logging at what I am eating makes me have to decide if I really want to eat it or not because i will have to log it. Also I see how healthy/unhealthy I am eating! to keep my self motivated I keep a picture of myself from my pre baby days, in a bathing suite, by the computer where I log my food intake. Then when I look at it, I tell myself will this help me to look like that again? I also drink water a lot! I never drink anything else, even when we go out all I order is a water with lemon in it. The way I see it is why waste calories on a drink! I also got my whole family addicted to skim milk. My husband now says that anything else just tastes like drinking pure cream!I try to keep snacks out of the house (unless my naughty husband sneaks them in!) I let my kids snack on yogurt and fresh fruit and veggies, I also stopped buying fruit snacks for them, I buy raisins instead. Any way I hope this plan works I think it will not only keep me on track, but hopefully will teach my children good eating habits too.

First of all if your best friend is teasing you about your weight then she is not a very good freind. Friends are suppose to make you feel good about your self not make you feel like you need to do something damaging like only eating 400 calories a day! Chances are she is just making fun of you because she is insecure about herself and it makes her feel better to focus on your flaws. If you want to loose weight do it for for you, not her. Next, to be successful at weight loss you have to make changes you can live with long term. You cannot live on 400 calories for very long and you will end up overeating and gaining the weight back plus some, not to mention the damage you will do to your body and metabolism. Just eat right and find an exercise plan that will work for you. In the end it will be worth it! |

I am new to the group, I too am a self proclaimed wagon jumper. I have 4 kids(5 if you include my husbad) and after a hard labor where my son broke my tail bone, I never lost the weight. I wasnt able to do anything for several months. I got into bad habits durring this time and have been wagon jumping ever since. I joined CC about a yr ago, fell off the wagon, and decided this was it! I am sticking to it this time!! I started at about 144 last week and have lost 2 lbs this week! I didnt think I was loosing anything so I was very happy when I steped on the scale this morning. I am 30 trs old and 5' 2.5" I would like to get down to about 115-120. Once I get to 125 I will decide then if I really want to loose any more. I really feel like I fit this group well, I have the all or nothing mentality. If I mess up at all I beat my self up but then I say well I already messed up today so I might as well have that _____ I have been craving. I think the biggest change for me this time is that I have resigned my self to the fact that it wont happen as fast as I would like. I am taking it slow, and I only take it one day at a time. I know where I want to be, but my focus is on the here and now.

| #324 ness757 Jun 12 2008 09:29 I personally have nothing against Christians as a whole. I do have a bone to pick with the religious right because I think their hate-based political motives are very un-Christian. That said, I am not a Christian because the multiple contradcitions in the theology falsify the religion. For example, why would an all-powerful God who wanted a perfect universe instead choose to create a falliable one? If he wanted a perfect universe but didn't get one, it means God is not omnipotent. If he is omnipotent, then the reason we don't have a perfect universe is because he didn't want one. Christianity asserts that God is both all-powerful and wants a perfect universe. The fact that our universe is not perfect (it contains evil) contradicts Christianity's assertion.
Sorry I dont know how to do quotes either. I want to try to answer the question about why there is evil in this universe. God, in his perfect knowledge gave us free agency. With this free agancy we choose whether we will participate in good deeds, or evil ones. If he were to prevent mankind from doing evil deeds he would be going against that free agency. Its not that he cant prevent evil, he just wont. God is perfect, we are not As a parent you find that you cannot always tell your children what to do. They are going to do things their own way, whether or not it is what we would have them do, because they have free agency. If you look at God as a loving Father in Heaven, we are his sons and daughters. He gave us free agency so we could learn things on our own. In order to become more like our Father we were sent to this earth to be tested. The closer we come to knowing Christ , who is also perfect, the more we become like him and the more perfect we become. |

| "What is it that makes you believe that you can repeatedly commit these Deadly Sins and be continually forgiven for them, but the rest of us are damned?"-anndjoe
I think everyone has a right to their own feelings and to believe how they choose! You have to find the truth on your own. No one can tell you how to feel or what to believe. This is how I feel about this statement. I am not Catholic and dont believe in the 7 deadly sins but I think there is a diffrence between true repentace and just confessing your sins and thinking you are forgiven. True repentance is a deep sorrow for the sin and a desire to abandon the sinful behavior. If you are truly repentant of a sin you have committed you will have no desire to repeat it. We are not perfect and the Lord knew this, that is why he gave us the gift of the Atonement. Only through the Atonement of Christ can we be saved. We will always make mistakes, and often repeat the same sins. But the Lord is there to help us, but it is left up to us to ASK for the help. We were sent to this earth to be tested, and we will make mistakes. Jesus Christ was the one perfect person to ever live on this earth. I believe that to be a true Christian we need to pattern our life after that of our Savior. The Lord was perfect but we are not, we just need to be as perfect as we can be. The more we come to know Christ the more we will be like him, and the more perfect we become. You may ask how do I know this? There is a diffrence in KNOWING something to be true, and just beliveing it to be true. If I hold a ball in my hand, how do I know it is going to fall? I believe it will, but I dont know untill I drop it and see it fall. I have had many experiences in my life that show me there is a living, loving Father in Heaven, who loves us. Just because I cannot see him that dosent mean he dosent exsist. Faith is believing in somthing we cannot see, but can feel. I cannot see gravity but I know it exsists because I can feel it! |

| Wow I havent been back in a while, like I said in my last post I have alot of stories.
We used to live in this older house, its about 60 yrs old. About 3 days after we moved in my husband and I were in bed asleep, and I woke up suddenly from a noise I heard in the kitchen. It sounded like some one was getting into things. I woke up my husband and he jumped out of bed, we both thought someone broke in. I followed him down the hall into the kitchen and there was no one there. My husband got a knife from the drawer and we went through the whole house upstairs and down, all the doors were locked and all the windows too, and all the kids were asleep. The next night my husband and I went out and we got my bro and sis to watch the kids. Im not sure what happened but I guess they must have heard more noises over by the window. My brother heard a voice, and told it to leave. all the kids were in the room with them, well suddenly they heard a door down stairs slam. After that I always felt like there was some one down stairs and I hated going down there. Our neighbors told us that the man who used to live there died, but he was really proud of the basement. I guess he put alot of work into it and he did it all him self. I was very glad when be bought our house a year later and we got to move! |
