| Foods | What is your favorite salad dressing? | Apr 17 2009 23:35 (UTC) |

Japanese Ginger Salad Dressing! The one I use has 20 cal and 1 g fat per tablespoon. But other ones are equally as low in calories. (Like 35 cal/ 2 tbsps...) Mmmmmm.... If I could choose any salad dressing without worrying about calories or healthiness, etc, I would still choose this flavour because it is amazing. I actually eat salads almost every day because it is sooo tasty. Love it! |

Maybe you are not eating enough or eating too many calories a day to lose weight? You may also want to try HIIT or some form of interval training. It really gets the metabolism going and the heart pumping. :) Good luck! |

Ahaha. That's so cute!!! You know, you could place doggy treats on your chest. Not only will this make your dog(s) come, but it will make them fatter so that their weight gradually increases as you get stronger and need more resistance. :) Although it may not be so good for their health, even though it is good for yours.... |

Yay for doing well so far! I have never been to Red Lobster myself, but judging from the name, there is lots of fish to eat, and fish is good! It tends to be lower calorie than meats and has lots of good healthy omega-3s. Plus, it tastes yummy... (Though I am a fish fanatic. LOOOOVEEE sushi.)
http://www.redlobster.ca/menus/lighthouse/def ault_cn.asp http://www.dietbites.com/Foods-Nutrition-Inde x/red-lobster-calories-nutrition.html The first website lists nutrition info for their low-calorie "Lighthouse" dishes (typically <500 calories). (Side dish nutrition info is given on the side of the webpage.) They also have a nutrition calculator for creating your own "Lighthouse" meals. Plus, they give some helpful tips here on how to keep things healthier/lower in calories when dining out: http://www.redlobster.ca/health/healthy_livin g/health_info.asp Enjoy! Don't forget that it is good to take a break every once in a while and reward yourself. So maybe you can just go and not worry for one night! |

| Fitness | Sore muscles, cant take steps. | Mar 17 2009 02:17 (UTC) |

Tee hee, I know those days! I still get sore sometimes from my leg workouts. The longest I have ever taken to recover is 4 days. Man, I had to go down stairs one step at time, planting both feet on each step and using the handrail to support me. :P Anywho, I have never tried this before, but apparently "tiger balm" really helps to temporarily relieve muscle pain. |

| Fitness | Please share...what exercises do you HATE but still do & why??? | Mar 07 2009 01:40 (UTC) |

Count me in for lunges and squats too. I know they are good, but I get sooo shaky and I just hate doing them. I actually have been sore for the last 4 days from my last leg workout (which I do once a week). The day after I could barely walk down the stairs - I had to go one step at a time. And I had to walk funny with my legs staying straight and not bending much. Plus, even touching my legs hurt. <-- Aha, that was a total rant, but in a way I like that they make me sore. I know they work! Ooo, and I another exercise I hate is any form of ab exercise where you use that suspended half-chair thing. You know, the one where you are against a back seat and your arms hold handle bars to support you off the ground. |

| Foods | What's your favorite fruit and when is it in season? | Mar 04 2009 03:47 (UTC) |

I love almost all fruit and thus go through phases of what my favourite type is. Normally, my favourites are either raspberries (though it is hard to find good raspberries) or mangos. But I got to say that in my mood right now, my favourite would definitely be: Nice, dark, delicious CHERRIES! Yum! I wish I could find some awesome BC cherries at this time of the year. Your topic definitely made me start craving some. :P |

| Fitness | How many days a week should you work each muscle group? | Mar 02 2009 04:59 (UTC) |
|
Hi back! I am not sure what would be good for maximum results, and I am certainly by no means an expert in fitness, but I though I would let you know what I do, since I workout 6 days a week as well. (I workout with my brother and he knows all these exercises and proper form so he is kind of my "personal trainer". And it is nice to be able to spot one another.) Anyways, I do legs one day. And then one or two of any of the following muscle groups for the other 5 days: - upper back - lower back - chest - triceps - biceps - traps - shoulders We make sure to cover all of the above muscle groups in the 5 days (without repeating them). For example, one week would look like:
Tuesday: Upper back and traps Wednesday: Triceps and Biceps Thursday: Legs Friday: Shoulders Saturday: Lower back Sunday: Break We mix and match as we please and toss in some abs or weighted abs about two times a week. (A lot of exercises (like squats and deadlifts) already encourage ab work.) Good luck! |

I find it is better to look at the nutritional stats on the website of the pizzeria you got it from. (Though this only works for popular chain pizza stores normally.) But, yes, 141 calories is quite low. I would have though anywhere betweeen 300-450 for the average normal white thick crust pizza slice. (This is likely off though.) Of course, I say, don't worry about it. It's okay to be off your calorie limit every once in a while! Enjoy! |

Ooo, I loooove love love hazelnut butter!!! I just can't get enough of it. Which is why I don't buy it anymore. :( I don't know how healthy it is comparatively though. My favourite form of hazelnut would be in praline chocolate!!! :P I would really like to try macadamia nut butter, but I decided not to once I found out it has tons more fat than most nut butters. Nontheless, I think it would be tasty. (Especially seeing as how white chocolate/macadamia nut cookies are so good lol.... Man, I like unhealthy foods lol. Good thing I started clean eating.) |

| Health & Support | I crave burnt foods? | Oct 30 2008 00:22 (UTC) |

Hmm, well I don't crave burnt foods, but I thought I'd share that I am the total opposite. I love undercooked things - especially doughy things that haven't been fully cooked in the oven yet. (Though I don't eat undercooked meat - that is a recipe for infection!) I think I like the comfort that soft yet mildly warm things provide. Maybe you just like the crunchy texture and chalky taste of burnt things? |

Cinnamon!!! I love it on my oatmeal and need to find new ways to use it. (I have heard people put it on squash/yams/sweet potato, but I don't like those things.) Before clean eating, I ate cinnamon hearts, cinnamon buns, etc.. I also like those cinnamon sticks you can get to put in apple cider. |

Haha - I feel the same way... everything I have is good for me, so it's okay to eat a little more than I should. :P I am Canadian and go to Queen's University in Kingston, ON! Yay for you for having midterms done and over with! I just came back from one! lol. By the way, you have a great postive energy - it's really nice to have people like you on CC!!! Thanks for your help! |

giasbash - Awesome! Thanks for the instructions! I will have to try it out after midterm season is over! I started clean eating almost 1.5 months ago. I think it might be too early to see any real results from it yet - like better skin/hair. And I can't tell whether it's given me more energy either because I think that might be negated by me going to the gym 6 times a week, having 8 courses this semester (35 hours of class/week), tons of work, and always going to bed exhausted! lol Also I still have trouble controlling my portions sizes (I overeat quite often because I used to binge, and am slowly breaking out of the habit). BUT, I have noticed that I feel better about myself. Even if I do overeat, I know that what is going into my body is GOOD for me. I am not feeding my body things it is not meant to be fed! Plus, it has helped break my calorie counting habit (that I had from anorexia), so I am really happy about that. I can eat without constantly counting numbers! I am really happy to have started it, and I am sure I will see better results once I am able to control portion sizes. Plus, again, I think I am too new to clean eating to see any really good results yet. So, I am definitely going to keep this up, because I do feel happy about treating my body right. The types of foods I eat include: fruits and veggies (especially red peppers and tomatoes! maybe red is a theme for me?), quinoa, oatmeal, lentils, organic whole wheat flour, skim milk, cottage cheese, eggs, extra lean turkey, extra lean chicken, LOTS of different fishy things (especially shrimp and sole fillets), tons of herbs and spices, balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, natural/clean soy sauce (though when I use it, I don't use a lot because of the sodium) and flax seeds. There are probably more than I can't remember right now. I have a hard time mixing things up though, and often stick to salads because it is quick and easy. Hence, why I am asking you guys for saucy help! Though I do LOVE making soups. I have made carrot ginger (with too much ginger though), tomato and veggie with extra lean chicken meatball soup so far! I have only tried each one once so far, and they definitely need working on... (Note - I do make one exception for an "unclean" thing, and that is my whey protein for after my workouts...) Haha, well that was REALLY long. Hopefully you got what you wanted to know. But you said you eat pretty clean yourself. How long have you been keeping it up for and have you noticed anything yet?
susiecue - Thanks for the reply! I am using green lentils actually, but they still get mushy. So I just need to boil them - I always that you had to kind of simmer them with the lid on? Do you boil them without a lid and keep on adding water over the time period once the water has all evaporated? |

Oh my oh my giasbash! Does that ever sound good!! I love all things fishy (and yes - sushi is my favourite food...). I would love to try it with some tender halibut. Mmmmm..... *mouth waters* Though I was under the impression that alcohol is not really considered part of a clean eating lifestyle? (I am just a beginner though, so I am likely wrong on that.) And this may be a silly question, but do you first sautee the shallots and garlic in the olive oil and then add the wine? And what step do you add the herbs/spices? THANKS! (And I am always open to more recipes if you have time to share - no worries if you don't. :D) |

I agree with jules. I find that the more water you add, the more it "expands", so it appears bulkier. I like adding more water because then it feels like I get to eat more! :) |

gi-jane: My lentils are actually always one big pile of watery mush when I want something with texture! I need to add less water, but I never get it quite right. Do you use a certain lentil:water ratio? And how long does it need to soak for? Thanks! :) |
