| Weight Loss | Need to motivate with someone comparable to me. 5'6" and 149lbs | Nov 13 2009 15:58 (UTC) |

Hi Ladies, I'm a 30-year old mother of a four-year-old. I'm 5'6'' and about 138 lbs. My ultimate goal has always been 120, but as the years go on, I realize that I would happily settle for the high 120s. I've always been pretty slim, staying around 130 lbs (medium frame). However, since the birth of my son and the 30s creeping up on me, my body seems happier around 140. It's hard for me to gain, or lose from this "happy" medium. Unfortunately, I am not happy with that weight. So, I keep trying and losing the weight loss battle--over and over again. I lose to food all the time. I work out five days per week and try to stay around 1400 calories. However, the weekends are out of control and take away any progress I've managed to make during the week. I probably consume (I don't track, though I should) around 2,000 per day and that keeps me from seeing any kind of loss. Maybe together we can motivate each other. Good luck! Tanya |

Wow, I could have written this post today. I'm 5'6 with a small/med frame. I cannot get down from the 138-140 range. I've been trying since the begining of summer, and it's just not happening. I work out 4-5 days/week, do great during the week and blow it all on the weekends. I hate it. I grew up being very skinny. It's hard to adjust to being bigger. Though I'm not fat, I'm not happy with the way I am. I want to lose 15 lbs so badly, but just can't seem to do it. I think about it all the time and am getting ready to quit. I even joined weight watchers and it's still not working. I wish I could just accept myself and live happily b/c everything else in my life is perfect. |

Harl9283 and Hofuss, Thanks for your encouragement! I didn't lose 3 lbs last week:). I lost only one, but I was proud. I started my diet four weeks ago and have lost about 1 lbs per week. As long as the scale keeps moving down, I'm happy:) SW: 6/19: 140 6/26: 139 7/3: 138 7/10: 137 |

I'm 5'6, 30-yrs old. My pre-baby weight was around 130. Now, my body seems to want to be more around 140, though I work out much more regularly than I ever did before having my son. I figure I have a good 5 lbs of muscle that I didn't have before, but my weight goal is 125. I have such a hard time sticking to my daily calorie goal of 1400. I constantly go over and don't know how to be more regimented with myself. I work out five days/week, but can't stick to a proper diet. Though I eat healthy, I still eat too much. For those of you who overcame the 130 plateau, how did you do it? How do you get yourself to stick to eating a certain amount of calories each day? And, how many calories are you eating to lose weight? Please advise. Thanks! Tanya |

Hi Girls! Keep going! If you miss a day, just do the workout the next day, don't give up the whole routine. I am also so encouraged to hear that a lot of you are going through the same struggles as I am--not losing weight, or inches and going through periods of not wanting to continue. However, day-by-day, we all get through it and just keep on trucking:). I am very much hoping that I will see more results in the last 30 days. I'm off to Mexico March 15 for a vacation and I will not be working out that week. I will eat like a pig and just get right back into the workout routine when I come back. I plan on doing some yoga on the beach and maybe some pushups and sit-ups. My body is so used to exercising that it craves the physical challenge each day. I can really feel it on my days off. Anyway, what I am trying to say is that I really appreciate all the support here and have to believe that what we are working so hard for will pay off at the end. Tanya (day 47) |

Reeney18, Thank you so much for posting such an encouraging statement. When did you begin to lose sizes? I am on day 40. Although I feel I look better, my pants are not much looser (maybe a tiny bit). I was in good shape to begin with, but I would love to lose some inches. I put the scale away b/c I found it too discouraging and I know that's not really what matters. Did you watch your diet very carefully and follow the nutrition plan? Were you a regular exercise person before doing P90X the first time? Have you seen additional results from doing the program the second time around? Thanks so much! Tanya |

Good Morning Girls! I finished day 39 today. This is week two of Chest for me and I got so much stronger this time around. I could do many more "boy" push-ups though I moved to my knees to finish out each exercise. I actually like the soreness in my arms and chest. It's a great feeling and it seems like I'm getting somewhere. When I am sore it is a reminder of what I accomplished the previous day. I am going on vacation on March 15, so this is great motivation. I'm going to take a week off and then start where I leave off (at the beginning of phase three). I am still fearful of the scale and the pictures, but I think this weekend I'll ask DH to take pictures. I sooo hope I see some improvement. I have to wear a bathing suit in 17 days. Good luck girls! Sawerdshy, I made the same Yoga decision this week. Last week was my recovery week and I could NOT bring myself to do Yoga twice in one week. I hate it so much; I have decided to ditch it. Since I'm doing the Lean program, I have not had to do the Plyo workouts so many of you are doing. I'm thinking of subbing that one into my schedule. I’m trying to rationalize quitting yoga with the thought that there is yoga throughout his other routines and I'm hoping I'll still get the benefits. Or, maybe I'll do the Stretch workout on my Yoga day. I usually take one day off. Today is day three of week five for me. So it was my first Chest, Shoulders & Triceps. Wow! Holy pushups! Though I can do "boy" pushups, I switched to my knees b/c of the amount of pushups in this routine. I'm hoping to first increase the number of reps and then get off my knees. I have a feeling I'll be sore tomorrow. I have not taken the 30-day picture b/c I fear no change. My clothes are not fitting any looser. It's all b/c I'm not being strict with my diet. I'm becoming frustrated with myself and need to find the willpower to eat less. Good luck girls! |

Hi Girls! Today is day two of week four ("recovery week"). Does anyone else HATE yoga?! I mean, I really, really hate it. I need to get some gloves to prevent slipping all over the mat. I feel like I do all the poses wrong and can't even get close to some of the ones towards the end of the first 45 minutes. Not to mention that the whole thing is way too long! I am really considering subsituting this routine with some other form of workout. But, I know it's there for a reason, b/c of that I keep trying. I also made the mistake of getting on the scale. I have gained three pounds. How discouraging! What am I doing all this for?! Busting my butt day after day. But, as much as I complain, I know it has to do with my eating. I need to stick to something managable--1,500/day. I do well for a few days, then I bindge and blow it all. DH keeps telling me that he sees a difference...that my body is toning and becoming stronger looking. I don't know if he's just saying that... Wow, I'm in a great mood today. Can you tell? Hope you guys are hanging in there and starting to see some results. If I don't see some soon, I'm going to lose it:). |

Nellieq, My DH and I are Green Smoothie nuts! We love them! My aunt got us a book called Green For Life. I thought it was about living green, recycling:) Nope. It's the smoothie book. We bought a VitaMix (well worth the investment) and have been having the smoothies daily for about three months now. We make sure to put a whole lemon into each batch (one batch for both of us) and we haven't been sick yet this winter. We swear by those things. The great thing about them is our three-year old son loves them! It's such a great way to get greens into all of us. I'm on day four of week three. Also having difficulties with eating. This week I'm really trying to count my calories and stop stuffing my face. For those of you with sweaty hands, how do you handle yoga? My hands slide on the mat. Tanya |

I have not tried the bonus workouts. I don't have time. I'm thinking I will at the end of the 90 days to try to keep up my shape. qmwillcand, Have you measured yourself in inches? You could be gaining muscle mass. I put the scale away so that I don't freak out. I'm going by the fit of my clothes and the inch measurements. I will weigh myself again at the end of the program. |

I too have been having trouble controlling what I have been eating. I set a goal not to exceed 1700/day, but aim more at the 1,500 mark. But, I have not been sticking to it. My birthday is this Sunday (the big 3-0) and I have promised myself that starting on Monday I will stick to my calorie goal. We're going to Mexico in six weeks from Sunday, so I would really like to lose some weight. I finally go around to taking the "before" pictures last night and it's not pretty. I really hope I see some improvement in six weeks. I'm in pretty good shape. These videos are very challenging, but they are not killing me. My problem is the food. I'm 5'6'' and weigh about 135. My goal is 125. DH keep telling me that it's not about the weight and he's right. I put my scale away to prevent any sort of scale-related depression:). I'm hoping that I will start to see inches loss. But, in order to make that happen, I have to eat less. Yuk! Tanya |

Finished my first week! Loved Kenpo! I was in pretty good shape to begin with, so this workout seemed doable to me. I felt tiny bit sore, but in a good way. It was wonderful having the day off yesterday. At 5 a.m. this morning, I did the Core workout. For me, this is still one of the hardest. I had a difficult time pushing myself through it, but I did my best. On to Cardio tomorrow. That one isn't that bad. I am also having a hard time sticking to the diet. I've been eating whatever and know that I won't see results if I keep going. I need to focus on the diet ASAP. Other than that, I love having a schedule to stick to. I entered the 90 routine into an excel spreadsheet and have one hanging at work, fridge and workout area at home. It's great to remind myself to keep going and I have my 1700 calorie goal posted as well. Good luck everyone! Tanya |

How do you find time for two workouts a day? I can barely fit the 1 hour plus 16 min for Ab Ripper! I really admire you for the two workouts, but with a full time job and a three year old, I just can't do it! |

Hi Ladies, Today was my first legs and back day (I'm also on the Lean program). DH put up the pull-up bar for me, but I can't do a single one. I put a chair under it and just did the best I could. I didn't think I was doing anything, but it's three hours later and my back is soooo sore! I've been working out regularly for a long time, but never doing this kind of back work. Wow! I'm going to purchase some resistance bands and see how I do with those. The leg portion wasn't too bad with the exception of the chair squats. Those are killer! Tomorrow is my first Kempo and I'll be done with week 1. 6 days down, 84 to go:) Have a good day! |

I made it through my first Yoga session last night. I must be doing the moves incorrectly b/c I was not sweating like the people on the DVD. I'm not flexible enough for a lot of the moves and used blocks. Over all, it wasn't as bad as I expected, just way too long. Today is my first leg and back day. I'm nervous about the pull-ups. DH put up the pull-up bar last night and I couldn't do even a 1/4 of one. Maybe I should use bands. Did you get the bands off the P90X site? Which ones should I use? Thanks! Tanya |

Hi Girls! I started the P90X Lean for the first time on Sunday. Today is my first Yoga day and I'm dreading it. I've never done yoga and am the least flexible person. The yoga warm-up before the Cardio day just about killed me. I am also nervous about the pull-up days. I've never done a pull-up in my life, so this should be interesting. I'm in decent shape--work out 5 days per week, but not for 75-90 minutes. My norm is about 55 minutes of The Firm, running, push-ups and sit-ups. The Ab video rocked me yesterday! I could only do about 10 reps of each of the 11 exercises and I thought my abs were decently strong. I look forward to seeing some results soon. Are you girls starting to see changes in your body? Are you following the nutrition plan? I'm trying to stick to 1700 calories per day, but I haven't really focused on the specific daily portions they recommend. I would like to lose some weight, but my real goal is to lose inches and become stronger and more toned. Tanya |

Good Morning! Not a great week for me. SW: 6-16-08: 141.5 lbs LW: 137.5 lbs CW: 138.5 lbs I am terrible on the weekends and I dread this 4th of July weekend b/c of the partying--drinking and eating that I'll be doing. Hi everyone! I was part of this thread last summer. I'm 5'5'' and went down from 139 to 130.5 in September. I fell off the wagon during a vacation and never recovered. So now I am right back where I started--139. My ideal weight is 125ish. I am turning 30 on February 1st and would love to meet my weight goal by then. I have started to run (never ran before, really hate it:) and plan to run a half marathon in December. I have been consistently working out, but I've also been consistently eating horribly. I am finally ready to re-commit. I hope to lose weight slowly this time and hope I can maintain my loss. Highest Weight - 141.5 Current Weight - 139 Short-term Goal - 130 Long-term Goal - 125 |

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
