i count without thinking too. i think thats going to be helpful when we are trying to maintain weight. if we ate mindlessly still we would just gain it all back. |

there is no way that one personal pan pizza slice has 325 calories in it. you should call them and ask for the calorie info. they have to know whats in it, its the law. |

where did the burrito come from? check the restaurant food site for correct calorie info on your burrito. thats what i do. sometimes my dh surprises me with taco bell or something and i always check the website for calorie info. good luck! :) |

| Foods | Quick question...oatmeal | Mar 06 2009 17:43 (UTC) |

i think daily oatmeal is fine, but maybe instead of having a salad for lunch, you should try something higher calorie. you don't really have to eat more, just more calories. or try topping that salad with sunflower seeds, chicken, flax seed, or oranges. |

try logging your foods to track fat and fiber if you are concerned. |

i am 5'1 and started out weighing 210 lbs. i have had four kids sence then and still managed to get down to 123lbs with the help of calorie count. com. i noticed you said you wish you could eat more. i know you are limiting your calories but that does not mean limiting your food. i eat more now than i ever have before, i just make sure to eat low calorie. i munch all day on fruit, veggies, boca burgers, cereal with fat free milk, and lots of other things. my calorie goal is 1200 and i still find room to eat alot. frozen grapes are so yummy and extremely low cal. have you tried them yet? good luck. |

another thought on this would be to save calories for night and enjoy them. i prefer to eat at night and so i often take my bulk calories before bed. |

how about slicing veggies and keeping them in a container in the fridge. when you want to night-eat, just tell yourself thats what you can have, and have as much as you want. raw veggies are low cal and you'll do your body good. another good idea is to drink a large glass of water before you make your next move. |

| Weight Loss | Our Body's "Set Point" - can it be changed? | Nov 15 2007 05:10 (UTC) |

| my set points at you called them have changed as i worked harder and harder. once there was no going below 175, then 162, 150, 142, and now its 125. my highest was 210, and i've been working past my plateaus for 6 years. i of course get lazy every so often, and eventually back at it again. i've also had two more kids in that time so thats another reason it takes me so long, but i've noticed that upping my calories to maintence level for a while and then going back down really helps. | |||

| you should post in the food forum. it would help you lots! my favorite meal would be whole wheat pasta with cut up zuchinni, onions, mushrooms, diced canned tomatoes, (any other veggie) fried in fat free cooking spray. add sugar free hunts red sauce to it when its done and warm sauce. pour over pasta and add grated parm cheese, or shredded mozzarella for a extra treat. yummy and filling. | |||
| Motivation | How do you not eat comfort food? | Nov 15 2007 03:35 (UTC) |

| i love my comfort foods. i love sitting down to a favorite food and enjoying it in peace at the end of the day. my favorite is a cup of coffee and a baked apple cut up with applesauce, sweet'n'low, and grape nuts on top. just like baked apple pie. i don't eat to feel different any more, thats the only difference. i eat to enjoy the taste and sensations. so when its gone, im happy and satisfied. | |||

| Weight Loss | am i in starvation mode??? | Nov 14 2007 21:28 (UTC) |

her net is 1500, but sence she is supose to eat the 1700 to lose weight she will want to eat another 200 calories to stop herself from entering starvation mode. during starvation mode the body burns muscle as well as fat wich can lead to a slower metobolism. |

| when i need to add calories i dip my apples in peanut butter, add walnuts to my cereal, or tuna to my salad. nuts are a great way to add the needed calories without feeling too full. oh- and the frozen meals are high is salt like the other poster said, wich tends to make me bloat and gain unwanted pounds from retaining water. i like to eat mostly fresh foods and lost 10 lbs just from doing that. | |||

| if you eat less than 1200 calories a day without exercise you will lose muscle as well as fat. the more muscle you have the more calories you burn and the more fat you lose. if you are exercising it is a good idea to eat any calories you burn so that you don't go into starvation mode. the exercise will build muscle and help you tone up. believe it or not holding in your stomach as you walk around will help to get your stomach muscles back in shape too. good luck and take care of yourself! | |||

| i am a reformed binger. so let me tell you that i beat the hunger by eating extremely low calorie foods like raw veggies and adding the veggies to all my meals, too. in place of pasta, i use cooked cabbage as my base and add red sauce, meat or meat subsitute (im vegetarian so i use broken up boca burgers wich are 90 calories each) i add diced tomatoes, mushrooms, onion, and sometimes green pepper. then i sprinkle parmesan cheese on top. so yummy and about 200 calories or less for huge bowl! i use fruit to replace candy and satisfy my sweet tooth. frozen grapes work best for this for me. good luck. send me a message if you need any more ideas! good luck, and believe in yourself! | |||
