| Calorie Count | Calories burned reported on HRM seem WRONG | Aug 07 2009 23:34 (UTC) |

arg I have been having the same issues. I just bought mine about a month and a half ago. It seems to happen at the beginning of my workouts, but all of a sudden it will jump from 170 to 45 or 00! It is so frustrating because I make sure I wet the strap, its tight, I readjust it when this happens and it doesnt help...I am thinking I need to call Polar.... Also, it never misreads my HR when I am in exercise mode (1 push of the OK button) but when I go into Own Zone it starts acting up... Very frustrating |

Any of the Rodney Yee videos are good, and they range from beginner to very advanced (which is quite challenging, lots of arm balances.) |

I really like this site! It breaks down your activity for the day. I like to refer to it if I had a half hectic/ half lazy day.

| The Lounge | Obama's healthcare ideas? | Jul 26 2009 21:34 (UTC) |

It isn't that people should be denied health care. It is the implications for the country's population if health care is run by the government. Look at other countries who have tried this. It doesn't work. The states that have implimented it are bankrupt. People from Canada come to the USA for health care because they are put on a waiting list. I want the freedom to go to the doctor of my choice, when I choose. I don't want the government having that kind of control over my body. Sure they say you can have private insurance still, but there will be an extra fee and eventually private health care will be so expensive that it won't be offered through benefits at work, therefore forcing you to use government coverage. What we have isn't perfect, and it needs improved, but it is disturbing how fast Obama is trying to push this through (while he still has the politcal clout to do it.) It needs more time and study, thought and reflection. Congress needs time to actually read the thousand plus pages they will be given this time...... |

| Fitness | Calories burnt - believe activity log or the treadmill? | Jul 12 2009 19:27 (UTC) |

I just got a heart rate monitor and it says I am burning LESS on the treadmill (more if I run outside) than it says...which is depressing, but helpful and motivating at the same time. |

| Foods | Measuring/weighing bananas? | Jul 07 2009 23:20 (UTC) |

I usually do it by the sliced by the cup option (it will indicate how many ounces this is according to CC) I then weigh my banana to check how close it is and then edit the cup amount (.5, .33, .75 etc.) |

| Fitness | Deceptive Treadmill readout? | Aug 25 2008 03:26 (UTC) |

The treadmill probably doesnt take into account your weight/ heart rate. It is just an estimate. I go to the YMCA and I have this really awesome smart key that programs the machines to count calories based on my height/weight/age but they are ALL estimations. |

sheibar, thanks so much for all of your informative posts! I have read through a lot of them and I am revamping my approach. I am in the same situation as erifica ( I have only been eating 1300 a day with a burn meter of 2300 ish- my BMR is 1445.) I will be slowly upping my food to around 1500/1600. |

If you want to save calories (and some money) try an iced Americano (hot espresso poured over ice with water added ) with 1 ounce of half and half. I usually put sugar free vanilla or coconut in it (I work at an independant coffee shop) but it only has 40 calories and I think it tastes like an iced latte. It is my favorite drink :) |
