| New Members | Do you need to loose HALF of your body weight or more? | Jan 15 2008 04:10 (UTC) |

Well trinaxxl, I don't need to lose half of my body weight, but none the less, the thought of how much I want to lose is scary for me. Last spring I finally hit rock bottom (for myself) and found that i didn't like to do the things i used to like and i had no desire to be social anymore. i had finally turned into someone i didn't know, or like. I went to a dietician in June and finally got the information I needed to put me on the right track. At my heaviest I was almost 210 (I'm only 5'4). I started by watching EVERYTHING i ate. I cut myself down to about 1,400 calories a day and I'm currently down to about 180. ( I was at about 175 before the holidays) With the help of the dietician and this website, i have been able to track my calories and activies. This website has been a HUGE help to me! I'm back on track today and will hopefully see the scale move again soon. I still have another 40 - 45 pounds to go. While this is not half of my weight, it is still a significant percentage. Don't be afraid of the total #! Take it one pound at a time and allow yourself to be proud of each and every pound! One pound gone this week is one less you have to worry about next week, right? You can do this!!! Don't let those numbers scare you!! |

Hello Allison, First of all, i'm not sure which young woman in the picture you are but you are ALL beautiful and I don't think weight loss should be your main focus. If you mean that you want to live a healthier lifestyle I would say to GO FOR IT!!!! Now is the hard part... what is a healthy life style, right? You sound like you are on the right track already. 10 lbs in a month and a half is GREAT! Just don't try to lose it really fast, that is unhealthy. They also make DVDs to help you strengthen and tone your muscles, you could try one or two of those if you want to target certain areas of your body to help build the muscle. In talking about eating healthier, just start to substitue some of your high calorie foods, such as fast food or greasy food with fruits and vegetables. If you are going to count your calories, a good way to easily count them is to use this website and eat Smart One, Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice meals, with a vegetable or side salad. One more thing, make sure you are eatting breakfast! Your total calories per day should never go below 1,200. Because you are small to begin with, exercise will really help you transform your body! Please don't think that you are overweight, take it from me! I developed a terrible image of myself because I wasn't as skinny as my friends when I was in high school. Now that I look back on it, I looked really good! Enjoy your teenage years, and just because you have a friend who wears a size or two smaller jeans than you, don't let that get you down. I don't know if I have helped you at all, but if you would like some more advise, or someone to talk to, you can message me on yahoo messenger at snappy_frog@yahoo.com. Sarah |

Congrats on finding your dress!! I currently am still in my quest to lose weight and like you I can't have a 'diet' that requires me to put in a great deal of cooking or planning. Having said that, I have developed my own version of Jenny Craig. Last June I went to a dietician and she recommended that I eat between 1,300 and 1,600 calories a day to lose weight. At the time I weighed 195 and I'm 5'4. I currently weigh 175. Simply I have been eating microwaved low calorie meals. Everything I eat I buy at Walmart for considerably less than a traditional grocery store. On a typical day, this is what I eat: Breakfast: low-fat walmart brand nutri grain bar ( i prefer strawberry) 140 cal Lunch: Smart Ones Meal (between 190 - 320 cal), a large apple and low-fat/light string cheese. Snack: One of the following if I get hungry - light/no fat yogurt (100 cal), 100 cal snack pack of pudding or pretzels (crackers, chips are also an option), no-sugar added fruit cup Dinner: Lean cuisine pizza (300 cal) and a large salad with choice of vegetables, just a few fat-free croutons for crunch and the best thing in the whole world are the salad spritzer dressings (10 sprays of italian = 10 cal and 1 gram of fat!), total salad calories is about 150. Snack: 2 or 3 bavarian pretzels or fat free popcorn or a serving of light icecream At most, I'm eating 1,500 calories for the whole day! It works, I'm down 20 lbs since June, my downfall is that I don't commit much time to exercise. My next goal is to exercise more! If I'm still hungry I break out the baby carrots or some celery sticks for something to munch on. Best of luck to you (and your man)! :)
