Hi i'd like to join as well, i'm 5'3.5" and 247.9 as of this morning, i'm looking to get down to the 150's and see where I wanna take it from there. I'm 22 years old and just finishing college (student teaching starting in Jan). The hardest part for me is exercising....well not so much doing it but getting started.

Is there a time or day we'd all like to check in with each other, or just as we please?

Weight Loss 100+ pounds to lose... Dec 30 2007

I'm not new to the site but i'm back on the wagon after a semester of regaining the 15 lbs. i lost last summer :( I weighed in last week at 250 and got really really scared! I have also been getting pain in my hips and know that I'm too young for that to be happening to me already (i'm 22) so i decided it was time to really get serious.

My initial goal is to get to back to a size 16 (i'm a 20/22 right now) eventually to lose 100 pounds. once i get back down to 150 i'll see how much further i need to go to feel my best.

Good news! I weighed in this morning at 247.9 so i've lost 2.1 lbs (not huge but it's in the right direction!)

Weight Loss Helping a 9 year old with her weight Dec 27 2007

From someone who's been there.....

When i was that age I had the same problem, and my parents did the same thing, i was even on weight watchers with my mom by age 12. And if you look at my stats you can see that this approach didn't work so well for me. I've been overweight my whole life and it has always been a struggle for me to just maintain (the only time i was at a healthy weight was my pre-teen/early-teen years). I think that's because my parents placed such and emphasis on food and losing weight. The worst part is, because of the way it was presented to me as a child (you're unhealthy, need to go on a diet, exercise more, etc.) i was driven to eat emotionaly becuase i hated my body image (still struggling with this)

My advice would be to focus on playing and don't talk about eating healthier or losing weight, just do it! She's nine years old and everything she eats (well pretty much) comes from home, so just stock up your fridge and pantry with only healthful foods and eating healthy will just come naturally, as well as weight loss.

Also, one of the only reasons my weight was under control durring my pre-teen and early teen years was because of my involvment in dance classes and team sports, it seems like she just needs group activity, see if you can get her involved in these things, because they seem more like playing and fun, not exercise to a 9 year old.

I'd like to join

 I have to admit I am 5'3.5" though....close enough!

I am in the 100+ pounds to lose bracket (though I'd be perfectly happy to get down to a size 14 as an initial goal). I am 22 and finishing up my Bachelors in Music Education (student teaching my last semester, which starts Jan 7th). I'm living at home to save money and plan to move from my home state of MI to either Denver or Las Vegas late next summer in search of a job. I have been overweight my whole life except for a breif period from 6-8th grade. I'm convinced I have the slowest metabolism in the world and am hoping that healthy eating and regular exercise can change that.

Starting weight 250 as of 12/23 - I'm getting back on the band wagon

Goal weight 130 - this seems so far off i can't even imagine myself that small! I was probably in 7th grade the last time i weighed that!

Thanks for letting me into your group!

try the orville redenbacher smart pop butter flavor, it's 94% fat free and still has some taste to it.

i would go with one of the thin crust pizza's, looks like you can eat the whole thing for under 400cal......maybe eat an apple or bananna on the drive there so you won't be as hungry too.

looks good to me with the exception of the high sodium content....i would make sure to drink a lot of water on the day I ate this, and I would add a small side salad with low cal or fat free dressing to the meal, you have to get your veggies in!

 hope this helps!

ummm...i'm pretty sure what floor you're on makes no difference to your weight....you don't weigh differently until you are out of the earth's atmosphere, and somehow i doubt that the third floor is anywhere close!

LOVE CROCS!!!!

and if you don't like the look of the clog versions try the flip flops, they look normal and are like walking on a cloud! I teach color guard and flute for several high schools and the 3 straight weeks of working band camps was horrible on my feet (out marching 8-10 hours a day) but this year I wore my crocs and it was much better!

cardio is short for cardiovascular meaning heart. The main focus for any cardio workout is to get your heart rate up, cardio excercises include running, biking, swimming, dancing, etc and they burn a lot of calories

cardio in generall will burn fat, while the squats, lunges, etc. will build muscle. You want to have a combination of the two so you can lose inches, but still have a toned look. no one wants smaller, but still flabby legs!!!

Fitness running making me bulky?? Aug 07 2007
04:10 (UTC)
sounds like you're bloated...have you been drinking your 64oz of water everyday? Eating lots of sodium packed foods and not drinking water can lead to bloating, which your symptoms seem to describe. Could this also be coinciding with your cycle? sometimes that's to blame for the bloat.

unfortunately i'm between sizes in Old Navy right now. The 20W are too baggy, but the regular 20's are too tight, i guess i'll just have to wait it out and lose another 5-10 lbs before i go shopping again

one two occassion i have had people yell out of thier cars, while driving, insults at me on the sidewalk!

In high school i was on the soccer team and we used to do a warm up run before every practice, about a mile long, up the main road the school was on. I was probably about a size 14 at the time and some jacka** from my school yelled out "it's not gonna help, you fat b**ch!"  out the window. I started crying and when my teammates found out what happened they figured out who the guy was....and trashed his car the next day, with toilet paper, saran wrap, whiped cream the works! I felt so much better knowing that my teammates supported me....well and they took care of the revenge for me.

The second time was as i was walking out of my office building, sometime traffice backs up in front of our building and some guy yelled "fat ass" at me....i was just bewildered that someone would think doing that was a good idea, and had to laugh because he was driving a hoopty car! At least i have a good job!

my dad sold his last house by owner (w/o realtor) and purchased his new one by himself (seller did have a realtor though) and did fine. I think that as long as you do your research, and understand the homebuying process you should be fine.

EVERYONE thinks it's too cold....well except for those ladies going through "the change". we used to be allowed to have small space heaters under our desks, but those got banned because people were forgetting to turn them off when they left at night. it's not uncommon to see people in the winter keep thier coat on in the office, or layer multiple sweaters. One lady even keeps a blanket in her desk drawer to put on her legs when it gets really bad. I've also been know to wear the gloves with the fingers cut off so i can still type.

Also we just got done have a heating and cooling company come in and fix stuff so that it's the same temperature all over the office.

I just don't get it...and he walks around in just a polo shirt and slacks! how he's not a popsicle i'll never know!

"I find that larger women tend to um, *thinking of nice way to say this*  wear out the inner thigh of their jeans and pants before the rest of the garment is worn out?"

Ha! love this cuz it's soooo true! all of my pants get worn out there! makes me mad too, cuz the rest of the pants will be perfectly fine, but i certainly can't walk around with a hole in the crotch can i!

I look forward to the day when this is not a problem....although i'm pretty sure my thighs touched even as a baby!
