I was 32 when I met my husband, he was 28. I had just lost a bunch of weight for the first time *lol*... had taken some pictures that I thought were cute... thought I might as well try online dating. I had done it before as a BIG girl.. thought I'd try it again. The results were not what I had hoped... but I decided I wanted my 19 dollars back, so I figured I'd take dinner from the next normal guy who asked. I did... I wasn't that into him, but he proceeded to hang out for the next eight months until I decided WAIT! This guy is PERFECT... (He REALLY is as close to perfect as they come! Tall dark and handsome, smart, stable, gentle, makes really good money, and is insanely in love with me!) We got married last February. |

I wish I could say there was a secret... I'm not doing ANYTHING different... it's kind of my pattern. I work out HARD CORE 5-7 days a week (Burn at least 600 calories a workout according to my Polar... I workout for between an hour-two hours every time and do weight training 2-3 times a week.) I eat PLENTY... I average around 2000 calories a day...They're usually pretty healthy calories... but I drink a couple of glasses of wine a few times a week and there's usually a bottle of wine in there somewhere! and I don't stress out if I eat over what I intended... but I do record EVERYTHING The only supplements I take are vitamins and green tea. Usually, I hold onto weight for about two weeks out of the month (week before TTOM and during TTOM)... then in the other two and half weeks it comes off pretty quickly... but this week was a shocker to me |

I always thought a calorie was a calorie... but with me... it makes an ENORMOUS difference... if my fat percentage goes up above 25%... I do not lose... If I am eating simple carbs (chocolate, cookies, etc.) I do not lose... If I go over my calories but am eating "healthy" items... I continue to lose... So who knows... maybe some people's bodies burn different things differently! |

You know... I love this site for back on track... and the RESULTS of back on track...
Last Friday I was 226 pounds... (down from 256 in June... YAY!)... well, I went on a trip with my family... made poor choices... came back and I was at 232... I logged the weight... I logged every stinkin' piece of fudge I ate... and knew that life gets in the way from time to time... but back to my LIFETIME plan... One week later... 220! YAY!!! I still lost 6 pounds in the past two weeks even with the little "blip" in there!!! As much as I love this group, I can't wait to leave it. *lol* I have to thank the site, everyone here, God...(sounds like an Oscar speech, yes?) But it's so REAL this time. I'm not on a "diet" anymore... no goal weight... no goal date... I'm just eating right for the rest of my life, exercising right for forever, and my body WILL get to the size/weight/BMI... WHATEVER it's supposed to be! |

So... my right attitude did me good... down 11.2 pounds this week... Yea, not exactly slow losing... *lol*...
Okay... so it's not REALLY that much... I gained 6 pounds last weekend that wasn't 6 real pounds... so over the last TWO weeks I'm down 6.4, but I'm STILL pretty happy with the whole situation... still eating about 1900-2000 calories AVERAGE per day... working out about 600 a day... and doing great! Hope everyone else is, too! |

Wow... congrats to all on sucess... x17star: DON'T back off... I had fifteen left to go... decided I looked pretty darn good... and went back to what put me at 340 pounds in the first place... STUPID me... 5 pounds a month is a BUNCH!!! It all adds up so quickly... and you are an inspiration. I had the ODDEST week this week, ya'll... I DID workout last weekend... but made POOR food choices... logges them all... but they were poor...I went from 226 on Friday to 232 on Sunday... shock awe and horror... but I earned it! *lol* This week... I have been STELLAR... working out well... making great food choices... drinking all of my water... (I wan't TERRIFIC this weekend either... but better...) TODAY? 220.8 so since my crazy water gain on Monday I have lost ELEVEN pounds!!!! (and even if you dont' count the water gain last week... I STILL lost 6 pounds in the last two weeks... so I am totally pleased!!!) |

Hey all... Okay... I had an OUTRAGEOUS weekend... and as of Monday was up six pounds from Friday... OOOPS!! The good news is... as of this morning... I'm down .4 pounds since last week. Not a whole pound or anything like that, but I'm glad I have at least a LITTLE bit to give to my team!
Next week should be MUCH better!!!! |

Reb... I'm kinda a fitness nut... I will tell you once I started exercising for real... I miss it big time if I skip a few days...
That being said... TONS of calories... easy to eat... and don't have to feel overly guilty about being "bad"... nuts... TONS of calories even in a little tiny bit... they won't stuff you, and it's good fat. |

I'm the laser tagger... it was fun... The calories were NOT worth it... never makes you feel good after... but it tasted great going down. Besides.. I took a LONG time to get really fat *lol*... It's only right it takes me just as long to get thin... and I know that one pound = 3500 calories and that I assuredly did not eat 21000 calories over maintenance in two days... so I just have to wait out my stupidity! *water water water* another big challenge this COMING weekend... R, the parents and I camping... my mom has a 100 mile bike ride on Sat. and a triathalon on Sudan (Yup... she's a nut) at a state park nearby... so we're going to be supportive... I can do it this time! :-) (It won't be such a crazy food fest either... I SWEAR that's all our Port Aransas trip is about... who can eat more food!) |

Nice to be missed. I was on vacation PLUS I've gone back to work... so those two things together make me on here a whole lot less often. Okay... here's the positive spin on a "negative" weekend. I ate in exceoss of 3000 calories both Saturday and Sunday while on vacation... Totally wasn't in my plan... BUT... I logged it... I am responsible for it... It is part of life and it happens. I was up 6 pounds as of this morning. I also know that it is not possible to have gained six REAL pounds... so I am 100% back on track... in charge... and hopefully I'll be back to where I started by next week. I'm in NO hurry to lose this weight. I wish I had not indulged so much, but I had MUCH fun with my family. It was an outstanding weekend! I did get a lot of physical activity in... and I get to try AGAIN this weekend :-) (Camping with the 'rents) Too many posts to catch up... but congrats to all lof tyou for your successes! |

Normally I do PRETTY well with weekends... and then there was this one. I went with my family to the coast and it's ALWAYS an out and out FOOD FEST. There are about 18 of us there... and we bring enough food for 100. I had been doing PRETTY well until Saturday night... I had eaten a LITTLE more than I intended... but swam... ran... etc. worked out for a long time on the beach, so I was doing well. My hands felt too puffy... I was retaining water... but not that big of a deal. Then, Saturday night... I wrote down all of my caloires before eating dinner... My husband saw me eat ONE chip with guacamole after dinner... shook his finger at me like I was a bad girl... and said, "Are you going to log that?" I know he was just trying to help me because i've TOLD him the only thing that works for me and weight loss is to log my calories... HOWEVER... I have ALSO told him he can't criticize me or make me feel guilt if I decide to overdo it... I have no idea why.. it was an odd decision... but I SNAPPED... I then proceded to have another FULL plate of food... followed by THREE pieces of cake... that I didn't want... and felt horrible... (and was at about 2800 calories on the day) Then, last night I polished off a bag of this really yummy... but highly fattening cashew crunch and nut stuff...( approximately 3500 calories) to the tune of 6 pounds gained this weekend. Real pounds? No.... but I'm just hoping that I can be back to where I started by NEXT weekend. Who knows... maybe my metabolism will get excited by such an influx of food. Even worse... I can't go to the gym tonight because I have open house after work. Oh well, I"ll eat right today... go back to the gym tomorrow... and start feeling good by Friday... GOing camping with my parents this weekend... but THERE I KNOW I can behave! (My mom has a 100 mile bike ride on Sat and a triathlon on Sunday... and we're going to support.) I'm in no hurry at all to lose this weight... I just wish I hadn't had a backslide... but I figure I"m doing this for a life time... and those weekends WILL happen every so often! |

Michelle and Pam... I swear that's the problem with electronic correspondence... it's so hard to read "tone" in email. In Pam's defense... knowing her from other threads... I'd be ENORMOUSLY surprised if she meant any offense. In Michelle's defense... I know she takes this thread VERY seriously... and wants to be sure that she take good care of all of the people who responded in what I am sure was an overwhelming way. Hopefully we can sing kum by yah (is that how to spell that)... and be friendly? As for me... I wonder how MANY servings of Pad Thai are in Pad Thai from Pei Wei. I got some yesterday... and here it said it was 561 calories. There's NO WAY that they give ONE serving... I ate like it was one serving... was stuffed and still had half left... and gained a pound this morning... not at all surprised... I wonder how many calories I actually ate!!!! |

On average... if you're working out pretty hard the whole time... have a good sweat going... it's abotu 10 calories a minute. Your BEST bet however... is to buy a heart rate monitor... The POLAR is about 70 dollars but so worth the investment. For me, the equipment at the gym is WAY off (by HUNDREDS of calories) even when I put my height and age in. You can look at the "exercise" tab on this site..or type the activity into the search bar here and pull up "aerobic" dancing or "circuit" to get an idea... but once again... I think this site is WAY too high for numbers of calories burned. YOu'll only REALLY know with a HRM. |

I went from 340 to 175... still WELL over any sort of normal range for a 5'8 woman... and people harrassed me continuously about how THIN I was getting... and that it was too fast... and that I had done so well and needed to stop (I showed them... I gained 70 back *lol*) I wouldn't use my method if I were you.... It really is none of their business... hopefully they didn't tell you that you had GAINED too much when that was the case... But maybe if you don't tell anyone you're working on it anymore they won't really notice when you're still losing. |

I also understand your pain.... I actually lost 160... and was within 15 pounds of goal weight before gaining half back... What works for me this time? (I've taken 30 of it off again)... no goal weight... no goal date. I eat right and exercise right because I'm doing this for a lifetime. Someday I'll get to a size/weight/ WHATEVER that I'm pleased with... and then I"ll maintain there... but for now... I"m just living every day without looking for a finish line because it would be too far away if I even considered it. I wish I could lose the scale blues, too... even though I'm consistenly losing and feeling awesome... it just is never fast enough... losing the thought of an unltimate goal as helped me. Congrats on your progress so far! The other thing I did when I lost a bunch... I kept ONE pair of size 30 jeans... and I would lay the jeans I'm now wearing on top of them and just MARVEL at the size differences. When I recently gained so much back, I took those old jeans out... and thought, "If you don't watch it... you're going to be here again..." Now I fit in jeans I couldn't wear since two summers ago. |

Hey guys... just stoppin' by to say hi... I lost 2 pounds this week... yay... 9 pounds this month... double yay! I have a new mantra no goal weight no goal date. I'm just gonna keep on keepin' on... doing what I"m supposed to do FOREVER... and when I get to a place where I'm happy.. I"ll maintain THAT... Yeah, yeah.. I can't help it... I still scale obsess... it keeps me honest (wish I could get rid of that sucker, tho... and just do the right thing)... ...but anyway...
