| leave scales where they belong, on fish! (I had to) i really dont think you should weigh yourself, i believe that noticing how your clothes fit is way smarter than digits; they tend to be inaccurate most of the time. |

| anyone who doesnt think anorexia is serious is an ignorant. you guys have no idea what it's like to live with this crap (btw, im recovered). it may start as a little weight loss for the bikini, but it leads you to believe that you can never be too thin, that a size 2 is kind of big, that 1 large apple is worth 2 meals, that burning 700 calories isn't good enough... NOTHING IS EVER GOOD ENOUGH |

you're doing all that stuff and eating a good amount of calories and yet the scale doesnt say you're in the 118... maybe it's because you have nothing else to lose? but if you're just dying to be at that weight, EAT LESS AND EXERCISE MORE |

| first of all, dont obsess or make him obsess about his weight. just because he is a boy doesnt mean he isnt sensitive towards these issues.
second, make healthy eating fun, go google vegetarian recipes and start substituting little things like sugar with splenda, white bread with fiber bread (40 cals each). please, if he snacks make sure it's fruits and vegs. fruits are delicious, let him know that, fruits have sugar but much better than oreos. vegs- make him ants on a log (try to moderate the peanut butter) make sure he gets a sufficient amount of proteins, carbs, and fats, he's a teenage boy, he doesnt need 1200, more like 1500. try to make 5 meals a day of 300 cals each (that's when fruits and vegs come handy because they are big size-wise but not high in cals, compared to ONE poptart already having 200 cals) try to set limits, have ONLY five meals a day, no sneaky-snacks. make sure he eats his food with the whole family, therefore, the whole family is going to have to be supportive and maybe you'll all lose a bit of extra weight as well. I REALLY ENCOURAGE THIS. exercise...you have to do it, even if you're dieting, you still need to exercise. sign him up for soccer, taichi, his cross country team, WHATEVER. make exercise about FUN, WINNING, FRIENDSHIPS... not about burnign calories and weight-loss. he'll lose weight slowly but surely (and if he really does have a very high % of fat it'll be even quicker) dont make rewards about food or boredom. if he got an A in math, take him to a CD store, dont bring ice-cream home and if he's bored, make him understand that he is not hungry, he should go read or play basketball. |
