bex:  great wording and I will tuck that phrase into the back of my mind for future use!  How are your plans going for your own business?

beth:  glad that big, nasty chore of taxes is done.  How awful that you had to deal with it when you were sick.

robbie:  hope your software got fixed quickly.

Weight is up this a.m.  I made meatballs and baked them in sauce, for my lunch and they smelled so good, I had two at bedtime.  Maybe that's all it is and will be back to normal tomorrow.  Standing in the kitchen I realized my knee aches a little at the end of the day, but it's minor.

I made one deadline at work, woohoo.  It was touch and go (having to wait on other ppl). I'm much more confident on the other problem.

wow this month went by so quickly.

oh that recipe looks so good.  I want to make it.

What kind of cheese?  A yellow or a swiss?

Maybe if you have to use frozen spinach you could use less to lighten the taste?

I wonder how they'd be reheated for my lunch at work.  Its so hard to think of things to take, but I think its a lot healthier and cheaper.

sun.........how much have you lost altogether?

On CNN this moring they had some woman who ate "raw"  no, not shusi, but raw veggies.  She lost 160 lbs in 2 yrs.

But, I thought heck, you and many CC members have done that good.........and you never made the news!  That lady averaged, (I had to get a calculator) she lost 6.67 lbs per month.  Granted that was good, month after month, but CC has ppl doing that!

yeah, my cravings got the best of me, back to SB.

Good Morning.  wow, lots of new ppl.  That's great.

My weight is holding steady.  (an upper number, but steady).  I was off schedule, meals, EVERYTHING, from a new stressful job.  byw I love the job.  Then my power was off 3 days and I finally gave up.

Packing lunches is a challenge.  Theres a great deli but its costly.  I'm thinking meatballs for Mondays lunch, so need to get busy.

Hope everyone is doing well.  how are Sarah and Gina?

sun, it's good to come back here and catch up.

bonton:  thats hilarious about the pills.  Guess you better put your name on yours, or dab some pink nail polish on your box.  Oh, I love the stories I heard from friends about the goofy, absent minded things men do.  You've got to wonder, what WERE they thinking!

This is surprising!  My knee feels great, (knocking on wood).  I stayed off it and got so bored with TV yesterday.  I even did a few exercises to keep thighs strong.  Whatever happened hope it doesn't again.  I can tell I'm pampering it a little and will be careful that doesn't cause other problems.

As far as voting, I'm encouraging everyone I know to get out and vote and am checking into absentee voting for some ppl.  I need to hurry on this, so they have time to get one.  I will be at a conference and have to vote absentee for the first time.  I love Floridas idea of having the polls open more days, for convenience of voters.  why does it just have to be one day normally?

Theres a woman on CNN who lost weight by eating only raw foods.  She's a raw vegan, losing 160 lbs in 2 yrs.  She said to start slow and have a variety.  BUT, is her loss from a vegan diet or as they are indicatiing from 'raw' foods.  I'm guessing anyone who would eat mostly vegs would lose.  edit:  just got my calculator.  She lost 6.67 lbs per month.  ok, thats great, but was it CNN newsworthy?  We have many CC members who've done as well.

As easy as it is for me to speak up in my personal life,  it's a different thing at work.  I have a relative of someone giving me a hard time and am hoping I don't have to run to my boss with the problem as that's my job to handle things.  This complaint is bizarre.  I asked for it in writing and got this reply, "why do I need it in writing and where does it say it has to be in writing"?  Well, that's something my boss told me.  I can just sense that this person feels I can be backed down or walked over.  It's because I'm so afraid, or careful not to antagonize or challenge anyone or want anyone running to an outside agency with charges.

This problem first came up a few months ago and the last mgr investigated thoroughly said there was nothing found.  I guess with me being new they are trying again.  I think one thing I will do next time a relative comes into my office is insist they bring the person with them whom I should be dealing with directly.  Especially since the relative had a hostile attitude.

How do you handle something when you think a person is hallucinating?  And I really believe this is the case.  But, you can't say that to them.

I've got enough dealing with my paperwork without this but I am fully aware its part of the job :(

These are GREAT ideas.

I was just thinking I'd like a bird feeder outside my office window.  So I love the idea of making birdhouses and will ahve to check into the cost and materials.  There aren't power tools or much budget.  I would have to hunt down some hand saws.  Great idea.

I just now recalled how a neighbor man my dads age, would come to sit in the yard with my dad and he would bring 'gourds' that he made into bird houses.  Yeah, they'd sit and talk about taxes, how the road in front was just fine back when it was a cinder road and what did they need pavement and sidewalks for.

alibsam:  I'll definately check out small woodworking ideas.

gypsierose:  I'll check out transportation to senior centers.  I know I have one near where I live and the walking inside has a rubber floor, so its easier on knees and I love that idea.  I'm saving some of these ideas so I don't use them all up at once then having nothing to talk about later :)

A speaker on 'fly fishing' sounds good. and it doens't mean that they need to fish or have the fishing equipment.  Where do I start, to find a fly fishing speaker?  Sporting Store or community college?

The activites I'm looking for are the non physical kind more to keep the mind active.

queenmedia:  My dad loved the weatherman and was always quoating him, "well, Dick G. said..........."  Now, this particular weatherman is getting old and not on much, but when I see him I have a special fondness for him.

clairlaine:  ha.  My MIL would start talking and go on and on about someone in town, going back to old history and she's be knitting as she talked.  You could get up, leave the living room, go get a glass of tea, and she never paused or acted like you left the room.

robbie:  I googled the name and it's horrible.  I feel so sorry for the mother who knows how her child suffered.  If procedures change because of this, that will be good.

I agree, Bex has a special knack of explaining.

I'm trying to help a small group, none of whom drive, or drive much, nor are they active.  There's a 'community room' but mostly inhabited by women.

It appears to me that the women do fine on finding activities for themselves.  It's just the men who don't seem to do much.

I accidently washed a silk blouse that I had to throw out afterwards  :(

But, if something is older and I no longer care what happens, I try washing it.  Some good results, some bad.

It's hard to get used to having decent insurance.  The past yr I only had the 'economy plan'.  I might consider looking for a specialist.

Bex, thank you so much!  Actually I feel better knowing knee problems are more common in women.  I would hate to think the only cause was that I abused my body.  I like doing exercises at home, so definately will do these.  I'm really hearing a lot about glucosamine lately.

Had errands to do this morning and passed 2 different women......running, along the road.  The amount of envy I felt surprised me.  Yeah, they were both younger than me :(

frostslave, sounds like you are really enjoying your house and it's good you are thinking ahead trying to scale back on fuel bills.  Hard telling at this rate what they will be in 5-10 yrs.

southbeach,  I got my book on ebay.  The bookstore often has them on sale.  They have lots of recipes and menu ideas.  it was what helped me get started and I felt better, more energy and less cravings.

I was very upset last night when my 'bad' knee suddenly felt like it was double jointed and popped out of joint a little.  Then I had a lot of pain afterwards and that isn't what upset me, its the fact that I love going out in the woods so much that I don't see how that will be happening.  I don't ask for much out of life.  I had to do a lot of mental justification to talk myself into not running last yr when I noticed my knees were getting worse.  It was hard at first, but i was thankful to be able to walk and started power walking and got along fine and eventually barely missed it.  Since I've lost weight this yr, I have run, but only the tiniest bit, for such a short distance it isn't worth mentioning.  Mostly finish up a walk with a brief 2 min jog at the end.  I love going out into the woods.  If I can't get out of the house I might as well forget trying to keep my weight down.

In fact today I feel like going out and buying some size 24 dresses and just eating my way into them and not even try anymore.  I'm not going to a doctor because the one I have has told me for yrs theres no reason to do the things I do (exercise) and that I do too much.  He tells me a little stroll is just as good. (which sounds boring to me).

The knee will get better or not.  If the surrounding muscles aren't strong enough to support it with everything I've done all my life, then its unlikely there are exercises to help.  It hurt so much last night after popping that I almost got my g'pas cane out of storage.

And why did this happen now when I've barely had any exercise the entire month, with the new job?  I've been sitting on my rear all day.  My knee has had less stress this month then ever before in my entire life.

A cane?  Me?  I'd rather just hit myself over the head with it and put myself out of misery.  Is this how old age happens, it just strikes you fast without warning?

aha.  I wondered about that but thought they were too pretty.  But no reason a trap has to be drab.

Against the dark green foliage, they aren't that conspicuous.

Traffic and shoulder of road didn't allow me to pull off safely to investigate.

I'm having the same problem and I feel like I'm hurting ppl's feelings but there are just so many ppl who are offering me things.  I am feeling stuffed lately and don't like the feeling.

There should be a support group for us  :)

Maybe I need a sign on my office door "please don't feed me".

ok thanks, now I'm catching on.  So, I can download all my photos and when I visit my kids I can plug it into their computer and they can see my photos.  Great.

cricket:  Don't you worry about the one on your keychain coming off and being lost?  (since it just plugs in)  My keys get tossed around, sometimes catch on my purse and I give them a yank, etc.

Songs that I buy on itunes or downloaded from my CD's I can download onto a flashdrive, right.  I really haven't backed them up as once when I bought CD's to do that it only took 17 at a time and was too tedious to download my 350 songs, so I only copied a few.

oh, my favorite site on my computer is my word document where I've copied recipes over the yrs.  I don't have any back up for those.  Maybe I need several flashdrives or a really big one.

rebbex.  You're entirely right.  The more ppl make the more they spend.  I'll always look back on this past yr of my 'early retirement'  in amazement. (My former company had a takeover).  After a dutiful amount of time moping I found I loved the time to myself, no alarm, no schedule, no ppl at work to deal with, just long bike rides and hiking.  And lots of time to visit my kids.  (bet they're glad I'm back at work)

I did miss shopping at first, but, like anything, you can get used to it.  I still enjoyed getting out with friends who shopped.  I know I ate healthier as I was cooking from basics to save money, but also had all the benefits of less perservatives, additives, etc in my foods.

Whatever your hobbies are I hope you can relax and enjoy them for awhile until a great job comes along for you.  Also I was like you, after mine ended I looked back and thought, how on earth did I put up with those conditions so long.  And I miss the time I was spending on the computer.

bonton:  Probably, at this point, any more conversation would be like banging your head against a brick wall.

(haha) since she said she would not expect to see you in the Inter-club league next year, I'd be tempted to say with a smile, "oh, does that mean you won't be there"?

robbie: if I wore the NYDJ backwards would they pull in my tush?

snowfence:  cantaloupe and fruit are a good idea.  When I first began losing, fruit satisfied my sweet tooth.  I have a corner, near my computer, not visible to visitors, where I could tuck a little tupperware container.  I guess my mind has been too overwhelmed to give much thought to good choices for office food.

beth:  yes, after being off work so long I really love having a purpose to my life and being productive again.  I really tried to fill my days when I was home but underneath I was feeling pretty useless.

rebbex:  one of my favorite Elton songs on a CD I have is "Candle in the Wind" which makes me sad.

I like reading how you all are staying strong, even if I'm not.  When I read how you all are trying it motivates me.
