| Years ago, my father retired from the military and got a job as a manager at Wendy's while he hunted about for a new career. Remember the "Superbar"? A section of salad, a section of pasta, and a section of taco stuff? Believe it or not, that $5.99 per person bar cost the company a whopping .38 per customer. 38 cents!!!!! Lettuce, veggies, etc. are more perishable than frozen beef patties. But they are making a literal fortune off of those salads. At the same time, I believe in putting a price on ME. I am worth more than a double cheeseburger, so if I'm stuck eating there, I'll probably grab the salad. |

| Fitness | Women with Large breast, sports bra question. | Sep 23 2007 03:15 (UTC) |

| I am a 36DD, so I hear ya!!
I have a two-strategy approach... First, Nike makes some GOOD sports bras. They hold everything in place so well that I often need dh's help to take it off later!! NOT one to wear on the nights I go from spin to swimnastics, because I can't change in the locker room without him, LOL. Other approach: wear TWO bras, or a sports bra and a snug sports tank with a biult in shelf bra. When I'm doing aerobics or step of jogging, I find I MUST wear two, or I get whiplash!! *blush* Hope this helps!! |

| I agreee... look for a couple of bites (at least) of something satisfying and higher calorie...
cheese and crackers peanut butter sandwich slice of pizza Just something quick and easy. It's worse to NOT eat tonight than it is to eat this late. |

| Foods | Is Subway lying? | Sep 08 2007 01:02 (UTC) |

| I'm glad Subway is around. It's better than McD's, IMO.
This summer I ate a lot of roast beef mini-subs. Sodium must be watched, but at 190 calories (including veggies, no cheese or mayo as has already been discussed)... it's a decent calorie expenditure! I'm more worried about what chemicals it takes to keep the sliced apples from going brown... ugh. LOL I admit... if it weren't for the $$$, I might do the Jared diet! Portion Control Portion control and low fat is the secret of Jared's "Subway Diet." Subway has 7 sandwiches with under 6 grams of fat. Jared ate a 6" turkey sub and a bag of baked chips for lunch and a 12" veggie sub for dinner, with extra veggies and no cheese, oil or mayo. This totals about 1000 calories per day. The convenience of a Subway restaurant right next to his apartment made it easy for him to choose their well-advertised low fat sandwiches. As the weight dropped, he stuck with what was working. http://walking.about.com/cs/howtoloseweight/a /subwaydiet.htm |

| Here's my .02...
People are more important than diets, though diets are important too. I would walk in, make a surprised face, and say, "Oh, you are soooo sweet! Thanks honey! I was so tired I didn't feel like cooking. It's sure not on my diet, but I am so happy to eat this dinner with you because I can tell you made it for me with your whole heart. You ARE the BEST!!!" You let him know it isn't on your diet, but he still gets all the credit for his kind gesture. Hopefully, when he wants to surprise you again sometime, he'll think loving thoughts of you AND about your diet. LOL ;) |

| Fred and Sue. LOL ;)
Here's my list: I'm grabbing from the fridge: Olive Garden... 80 calories (70 from fat), 510 in sodium. (It's yummy, but I watch it because of the sodium.) Kraft Italian Light Done Right... 40 calories (30 from fat), 270 sodium. (Healthier than Olive Garden, but not as yummy!) Tastefully Simple Chipotle Ranch... 170 calories (150 from fat), 230 sodium (Not healthy, but if you use one tablespoon instead of two on a wrap or tortilla roll up... yum-o!!) Current fav... T. Marzetti Spinach Salad... 70 calories (15 from fat), sodium 250. It is delicious and I definitely toss my salads to make the 2 tablespoons really stretch. I love the bacon-y flavor. |

| I had six babies. One at a time.
I'm not sure I've chosen to "cure" that problem... after all, kids are great!!! But I did use pregnancy (as well as, "I just had a baby") as an excuse to eat some junk. Now I eat pretty clean, and I'm LOVING the pounds that have fallen off... loss to date: 50 pounds!! |

| If you feel like you need someone to be accountable to (other than us!), WW is a decent program.
I think the "points" system is a little off. They give you credit for fiber, when I think calorie counting is easier, less math, and MORE ACCURATE. But I do know people who are very happy with how well they've done on it. |

| This sounds a lot like the Hallelujah Diet...
They used to say something similar: no white flour, no white sugar, no white fat, no dairy. It's still a limited diet, but they've made it more user-friendly... http://www.hacres.com/diet/explained.asp |

New clothes feel so good, even if my budget is kind of "clearance rack." LOL |

| Weight Loss | I DID IT!!! | Sep 02 2007 04:10 (UTC) |
18 |
| Well... I basically made losing weight my "job" this summer.
I ate around 1100-1200 calories a day. I do fast one day a week, and then eat a big dinner that night. I ate mostly "real" (not in a box) foods, and counted calories pretty carefully. For exercise, I constantly mixed it up. I did step, spin, walking, eventually some jogging. Water areobics, lap swim, abs class, and even a little weight lifting (though not much... it's just not me, though I do lift weights in classes). I exercised about 3 hours a day most days, Saturdays for one hour and Sundays just a long walk. I hope this helps someone. I'm actually overweight now, instead of obese. That may sound gross to some, but for those of us who struggled to get away from the "obese" title, it is a LOVELY thing to be just "overweight"! LOL |

| Fitness | Does Curves for Women really work? | Sep 02 2007 04:06 (UTC) |
14 |
| Another thing you might want to think about, if you're pro-choice, and pro-science-based (v. faith-based) education, is that the man behind Curves contributes heavily to anti-choice and abstinence-only education causes. So, I'd never go, simply for ideological reasons. But that's entirely a personal choice LOL That makes me WANT to go there! And BTW... "faith based" education still includes science, it just doesn't include unprovable theories that contradict God's word. The Bible is scientifically sound. |

| So... I'm the only person still weighing in on this challenge???? Wahhh! It's lonely in here. Where did y'all go??? Start: 228 Today: 182.25 Mini-goal: changed to 170's by September 1st (179.999 is still 170's!! LOL). Yes, I know that's less than a week. I just want a clean week so I can do my very best toward my goals. I'll set a new goal for next month. And... dum-dum-da-dum (trumpets!)... I have now lost 20% of my beginning body weight!! Yayyy! |

| Maintaining | A contest for maintaining? | Aug 28 2007 03:03 (UTC) |

| Thanks for your reply! I'm thinking of a point system... like, a point for every class you take at the gym, for each class you attend from the regular weight loss challenge (the thin people can help motivate the newbies, I figure), a point each week that you lose or maintain (coach signature required), and maybe a point for using the nautilus room... Does this sound good? I think the gym might gift some free memberships to the winners. |

| WWWWWWHHHHHHHAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTT??????????? YOU MEAN THAT AFTER ALL THIS WORK, I MIGHT STILL HAVE TO WATCH WHAT I EAT???????????? I THOUGHT I WAS DOING ALL THIS WORK SO I COULD EAT WHATEVER I WANTED!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding... sort of!! ;) I seriously used to walk (and I do mean wwwaaaaaallllllkkkkkkk<she says in slow motion>) and turn on the "calorie setting." I would burn, say, 80 calories. Later in the day, I would eat a Snickers bar because, "Hey, I did work out today!" I know the future holds some "being careful"... but I'm looking forward to a *little* more freedom. Yayyy! |

| Sometimes I really do have to say "no" to myself, but I am still trying to lose 2 more babies worth of fat, LOL. But, sweetie... You weren't saying no for a good reason. You were just torturing yourself. I'm so glad you're better now! Thanks for sharing your story. I hope it inspires another teenage girl facing what you were facing. It inspired me! :) |

| I have soooo done this. I did it about 2 weeks ago. I blamed it on PMS. Two weeks later, still no period. I guess it was just... uhh... ME! LOL So take a picture of yourself. A close up of just your face, and make a face that shows how guilty you feel right now. Print it out, and hang it on your refrigerator that says, "NOTHING TASTES GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE ME FEEL LIKE THAT AGAIN." I'm serious!!!!! Go find a camera, RIGHT NOW!!! Make that your LAST binge! |

| Weight Loss | How "YOU" are doing it... discuss | Aug 22 2007 00:31 (UTC) |

| I've lost 42.5 pounds in 11 weeks. Here are my keys:
1) Prayer. Only God can keep a woman with PMS outta the peanut butter and chocolate chips. 2) Bible Study. When I remember what God has done for me, I want to please Him with my choices, including time, body, food...etc. 3) Diet. I eat a pretty healthy 1100-1200 calories a day. I focus on natural foods... high fiber, low sodium, and take a liquid mineral and a freeze-dried plant source vitamin. 4) Exercise. I have worked out like a fiend this summer. On a day when I have the time, I might put in 5 hours. Other days, one hour. I take a day off every week, but do something "active" daily. 5) Fasting. I fast one day per week, and then eat dinner (whatever I want, heck, I have the calories!) that night. 6) Accountability. I joined a contest at my gym. I have to weigh in weekly, and I have a partner. As a team, we MUST count on each other. Her bad week affects me, and vise-versa. It's not just me when I lust after Doritos... it's her, too, and when I consider her, I make better choices. Hope this helps somebody else!! |

| I used to struggle with conscious night time eating. LOL
Now when I really want to eat something, but my stomach isn't growling. I pray or read my Bible. If my stomach is actually growling, I might go ahead and eat a popsicle. Hope that helps! |
