| 4906+30+14+9+9+10+15+1+15.8= 5009.8 I think that's where we're at. Plus I lost 15! That brings the total to 5024.8. | |||

| Today I weighed myself and I'm the lowest I've been in about six years (which is only 3 lbs off the weight I'm shooting for). I've had a cold for several days with a loss of appetite to go with it, which probably explains the weight loss. It is fun, though, to see the new low weight on the scale. It's a good modivation to get back into eating better and exercising when I'm well in a couple more days. | |||

| This is a little different than you were asking, but I've been white water rafting in/around Beckley, WV. It was a lot of fun and the area was beautiful. The group we went with, Ace Adventure Center, I believe, was really great, and they offer a lot of other activities, such as horseback riding. You will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere for sure. | |||

| I like to bake, so when I get the urge to throw something in the oven, I'll usually take it to a friend's house or to work the next day. Since the food is reserved for someone else, I tend not to dig in. (I don't want to take them a half a plate of cookies!) It's good - I might have one or two cookies to make sure they turned out OK, but then the bulk of them go toward making other people happy. | |||

| I started up with Shotokan karate again this past summer (after going for 3 years in college, six years ago), but stopped going in October because the fees got too high for me to swing right now. Anyway, it was great - a way better workout than I get when I go to the gym myself. I was dripping after every practice. I agree about going back with a white belt... My new place didn't even recognize my old rank, despite both being Shotokan. |

| You mentioned you had to give up the birth control - have you tried an IUD? You can get the kind that doesn't have any hormones. It's the most popular form of bc outside the US. | |||

I have two things here: black beans with rice and Thai Tuna burgers, a recipe I got out of a magazine. Black beans and rice are soooo easy. You get a lot, but you don't feel bad if you have to throw some away because it costs you almost pennies per meal. Start some rice in a rice cooker, if you have it. Saute onion in olive oil in a separate pan. Add a can of black beans (look for cans without seasonings already added), simmer. Add a little bit of each of these to taste: ground cumin, dried oregano, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes. Simmer until the juice with the beans has thickened a bit and spread over the rice to serve. MMMMM! I like my homemade recipe better than a lot of black beans I've had in restaurants. Thai tuna burgers - makes 4 burgers, so you don't get burned out... You could probably half the recipe, too. They are quick to make, after you get your cilantro chopped. 2 cans tuna, drained 1 egg, beaten 1/3 c. dry bread crumbs 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh cilantro 2 tsp soy sauce 1 tsp freshly grated ginger root 1/8 tsp coursely ground black pepper 1 1/2 tsp vegetable oil 4 buns, toasted sweet red chili sauce (such as Taste of Thai) 1 cup alfalfa sprouts Combine tuna, egg, bread crumbs, cilantro, soy sauce, ginger and pepper in large bowl. Shape into 3 1/2" patties. Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray; add oil and heat over medium heat. Add patties and cook three minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Serve on buns with chili sauce and alfalfa sprouts. The recipe gave the following nutritional info: 316 calories, 24g protein, 31g carbs; 10g fat; 2g fiber |

If I am looking for something low in calories, I eat puffed wheat or puffed rice. In my Manhattan neighborhood (where most cereals are around $5/box), I can get a bag of puffed wheat or rice for less than $2. One cup is only 60 calories, and there is only one ingredient. |

| I had a Smirnoff Ice the other day, and plugged a Barcardi Silver into my food log for the day. They are probably pretty similar. Can't help you with the irish cream though. | |||

| The sugar-free hot chocolate is a good idea... it is very satisfying. This will sound a little weird, but I gave up only ice cream about a year ago. (I had been eating a bunch of ice cream at least three times a week). I wasn't on any other sort of weight loss program - I just cut out the ice cream because I saw it was a vice. After the cold turkey period of about three months, I decided that I'd have it on birthdays and special occasions only. After the cold turkey period, I found I did have the self-motivation not to overdo it and call every occasion a special occasion. To get myself through the cold turkey period, I gave myself one exception - I could eat it if it was on a stick (like popsicles and fudgecicles, not ice cream bars). Sugar free fudgecicles are sooo good, and not more than about 80 calories each (I don't remember the exact number). Now that it's been so long, though, I don't eat them anymore either. So maybe if you give yourself one outlet that is lower in calories, but still feels like you are cheating, then it will be easier to stick to the no-sweet rule. After you give the sweets up for a little while, it will be easier to pass up the candy dish because you don't want to ruin your dry spell. (By the way, ask the family to quit bringing over the sweets!) | |||

| Mircette was pretty good. I went on it and my chest grew two sizes, but most everything else stayed the same. (The friend who recommended it to me had the same side effect). I was tired of mood swings for several years on hormones though, so I got an IUD. I am pleased with it, but haven't had any weight-related ups or downs. | |||
