Weight Loss Remember what it was like to be blissfully unaware....? Sep 09 2008

It's so funny, my husband asked, what's for snack.  My answer, anything that's less than 100 calories, since I've only got 100 calories left of my daily 1,500.  Until the 24th of June, I wouldn't have ever even thought a thing about calories.  Just bring me the snack.

I'm been so amazed at what I've learned in such a short time.  Now folks, I've lost a 100 lbs twice in my life time and gained it all back.  Not once did I try to look for calories.  what was I thinking.  Talk about a life change, this is it.

Did you know that nearly every restarant you can imagine has nutritional information on their web sites.  We are able to look up what we might want to eat, before we go, or what we ate after we got home to log our food intake.  It's wonderful to have all those resources.

Keep up the good work.  I'm so happy to have you all in my corner.

Thanks so much for the Pep Talk.  You're right about the exercise, and that is nagging me, so, it must be the next step.  Have a Dr. appointment in one month, so any further weight loss will be a plus for me.

I'm glad you think I don't have to reduce my calories.  It can pretty much live with this amount of food, but I really don't feel comfortable eating less.  Frankly, this may be the first time I've really paid attention to the calories/measurment system and wow is it an eye opener.  You can't open your mouth without adding to the count.  I'm sort of "down for the count" before I know it.  Have to give up carbs big time.  They just count too much.  Also, I've noticed, Fat really adds it on.  Don't buy anything other than Fat Free Salad Dressing, for example.

Sugar Free is fairly easy, since my hubby is Diabetic, so we cook with low carb, and sugar free a lot.  My culprit is eating out.  I'm going to start carrying my bottle of salad dressing.  That's the best way to be careful.

Have either of you hear of Dream Fields Pasta?  IT's low in digestiable carb.

My diabetic litature speak highly of the brand and we use it.  I think it's wonderful.

Okay, I look forward to hearing from you all.   Nana

I've lost 200 lbs twice in my life time, only to regain more and more.  This time, I'm finding myself, "starting over" every monday morning after I've eaten out on the weekend.  I've really worked at eating the right foods but still, it's nearly impossible to eat right and eat out.  Guess my birthday cake on Sunday didn't help either.

The miricle is that, I'm willing to "start over".  I couldn't do it without all of you.

Thanks

The Air Force brought my husband and I to Randolph Air Force Base in 1976.  We've lived here since 1976 in Schertz, Texas one mile away.  I and our Family are Texas Aggies and I love every thing about Texas except the heat!!!!  Heat Index 105 today.  Love the winters.

Howdy to all my new Texas Friends.

Thank you so much.  The ideas you shared are very helpful.  I'm really new to this, and feel trapped some times.  It will take paractice.

I do agree about not drinking.  I did drink 1/2 then passed it on to my husband.  next time I'll save $6.00 and just drink a diet coke.

Hello dear friends,

This is a two week update.  I'm happy to report I'm down 8 lbs, have completed the 1st goal and intend to continue with my new life style change.  I've got another Dr. appointment in 3 months and plan to go in very proud of my self.

The lessons I've learned so far are, 1.writing everything down does help.  I had know idea it would be this informative.  I'm saving every log and will print them out to take to the Dr. 2. Salad is the life savor. I have a huge appitite.  Wouldn't be in this mess, if I didn't.  The action of chewing is helping me feel full and stay on plan.  It's also fun to measure 3 cups of Mixed Salad and only log 23 calories.

I've made it sound easy, but it's not. There are always ways to stumble long the way.  I just have to keep my eye on the prize.

Hope you all are doing well.  Thanks for your support.  Know lesson 3. "I can't do this alone."  Blessings, Nana

Hello,

I'm fairly new to the Forum and this computer diet, but I'm having success and that's all I can ask for.  This is the area where I haven't been too successful.  I forget to check in to see how others are doing, unless I really need a friend.  Maybe that's not the way to work this program.  We need all the help we can get.

I'm sorry you live in a place you hate.  I'm lucky there, since after 20 years in the military with my husband and 18 different moves, we finally found a place we both could be happy with.  Also, my kids are grown now, but those grandbabies do keep me busy. I think what you need is a plan!!!!  Set up a schedual daily, for special time for you to do something you love.  Then a time for you and the kids to do something fun.  Even taking a walk is fun for the kids and oh, you do have fun at a playground.  Also, make a promise, to join a church group, community event where you can meet people your own age.  They are out there, you just have to look.  Lastly, take a look at your weekly schedual, and plan a special family time with all of you, husband and wife doing something different.  And then plan for another day or night where you don't have to do anything but something you want to do alone.  Go to the library, catch a bible study, go to a gym, pool etc. or just catch a romantic movie your hubby would hate.  Invite a friend or neighbor to go with you if you don't want to be alone.  Time away from the kids is all improtant.  Hang in there, and If you want, I'll try to be here for you, if you'll do the same for me.  I so understand how you feel.  My husband spent nearly 5 total years away from us, while completing his military service.  It can be very lonely out there with out a plan.  This time, experience can help.

God Bless and hang in there.

You know, Cassie, you sound like a beautiful young girl who's been badly influnced by the media bliz of "thin is in" concept.  We'll I'm here to tell you that happiness is not found through the scales.  It's found through good friends and family.  If they are caring, that 5 lbs don't matter.  Also, if that 5 pounds are a bother to you, then "you" can get rid of it.

You have a boyfriend and I'm sure other friends.  Start planning activities that burn calories.  Go dancing, swimming, skating, hiking and the list goes on and on.  Sitting in a movie house is not always the best date.  So get going.  Also, I'm learning that if I'm full of crunchy salad, I'm satisfied with the limited food I eat.  If your dancing, skating or hiking, you are staying away from the fast food place where you get those nasty little surprises.  You hang in there, take one day at a time, and I bet that 5 lbs is gone in no time.

One last peice of advise, stay off the scales.  It' messes with your mind.  Don't do that to yourself.  Relax and enjoy life.  Take it from this Nana, its too short to be worrying about 5 pounds

Hello again,  Just wanted to thank you all for your wonderful advise and support.  I can't believe I haven't know about this site before.  God must have helped me find this just at the right time.

I'm trying to stay positive, realizing that food is not the problem, it's what I choose to eat that makes it bad.  My daughter-in-law swears by logging.  Just have to keep it up.  At 4 days and counting.

Exercise is the next mini-goal.  I step at a time.

If I don't get a chance again, Happy 4th everyone.

Good Job,

I'm working up energy to take a walk.  I look forward to compleatng that goal.

My other mini-goal is getting under 300.  That sounds easy, but it's notl  Also, staying tere is another goal.  Other than that, I'll take one step at a time.

At least I have my new friends helping me.  Thanks for your support.

Day two and I'm still logging my food and still planning on doing it again tomorrow.  I've been to the water class but we are on a pretty tight budget and I don't get to go to the pool for the class any more.

You are a so great to respond.  I'll keep posting my successes and keep asking for help.  I love this site.  Most of them you have to pay to join and that leaves me out.

I look forward to hearing from you all again soon.

I'm disapponted that I was doing so well and I got off course, and now I've regained the weight and have stopped exercising.  No, I've got to start all over.

Keep up the good work.  I'll use you for inspiration.
