i've been doing it for about a month now. I've also been eating completely raw for the past 3 months...NOTHING processed or cooked so i'm getting the full nutrients...which might be shocking my body. I'm doing it under the consultation of an integrated diet nutrionist so I'm not undereating/malnourished. Im going to try eat much more frequently and see if that helps. Thanks for the advice! |

| Weight Loss | Eating 900 calories a day? | Mar 05 2009 22:15 (UTC) |

NOOOOO WAYYYYYYY. Sure you might lose some weight right away, but your metabolism will suffer therefore once you start eating more than that you will gain it back plus more. Since you're a guy you don't have as many fat cells as women, therefore you can lose weight more quickly. with Eating within a healthy range for your height/weight/age and daily exercise you will surely lose weight. |

| Weight Loss | Is it bad to eat carbs right before bed? | Mar 05 2009 22:11 (UTC) |
3 |
generally I eat carbs when I need a boost (morning, miday) If you're hungry before bed I would recommend eating fruit/protein/veggies....a banana with almond butter is my favorite, another favorite is raw avocado and tomato salad w/ sea salt and pepper. I hate going to bed with an empty growling stomach but generally a very small snack will help. |

| Weight Loss | Are you addicted to fast food ? | Feb 09 2009 23:32 (UTC) |

when i was younger i liked to eat it, but now my stomach cant take it thankfully. The only thing thats good about fast food is that its fast. If you do a little research and read about all the disgusting preservatives, hormones, chemicals..not to mention the amount of lard you're ingesting it might sway your craving. Instead of eating fastfood make a turkey burger! they're yummy and in the long run it will save you money, fast food is not as cheap as it once was. I think the saying You are what you eat definitely applies to this...if you eat junk you'll feel like junk, and you can't rationalize good health. |

| Weight Loss | Is it me or my scale? | Feb 09 2009 18:56 (UTC) |

make sure you're eating a lot of lean proteins and not much starch, and drink lots and lots of water. After weight training peoples muscle tend to retain water so flushing that out is key. Don't let the scale frustrate you, your body is so thankful that you're taking that much time for it , if you have the right mind set your body will follow |

| Recipes | Healthy Mac and cheese recipe | Feb 09 2009 18:48 (UTC) |

I made a home made mac and cheese with shredded veggie cheese also comes in blocks and slices(MUCH lower in fat and calories than regular cheese, as well as high in protein, and its dairy free..they also have different flavors which you can mix and it turns out really delicious), whole wheat shells or penne (texture can sometimes be an issue so i tend to over cook for a minute or two so its softer) Add some sea salt, cracked pepper, I also add some diced peppers and tomato and then baked until the top is a little golden. |

| Recipes | Tofu? | Feb 09 2009 18:41 (UTC) |

preparation is key, a little extra time goes a long way with tofu. If texture is the issue buy the extra firm and blot it in paper towels for a while to extract extra water that can make it runny. You can also marinate it over night so it is full of flavor, firm but still "juicy" (kind of the same as when you brine chicken). I recommend doing some research the internet is FULL of delicious tofu recipes and I'm sure with a little more effort you will start to like tofu more and more. |

| Weight Loss | Steroids, how do I lose weight while still on them | Feb 09 2009 18:21 (UTC) |

Ok since I don't know your medical history I don't know if this will be of much help, but I have a friend who suffered from severe eczema and her baby daughter did as well. For a few years they tried steroids and topical creams that helped but didn't fix the problem which was under lying food allergies...wheat gluten and sugar (starches, alcohol etc) can make eczema much worse. You might want to experiment with some raw food methods....and eating raw doesn't mean just eating salads all day. Once my friend began eating raw clean foods her eczema went away and so did her daughters and neither of them need medications now. She is not malnourished at all and her complexion is absolutely glowing. Different things work for different people, but a lot of doctors would rather prescribe people medications than address the underlying issues. |

lots of lean proteins, low sodium intake and water water water water. Personally i avoid those prepacked low cal snacks and sugar free things, while they are low in calories they contain a lot of synthetic ingredients that don't do your body any good. you're better off making your own trail mix from raw organic ingredients (a lot of trail mixes have A LOT of sodium) an i don't trust anything thats "sugar free" and still sweet. Try agave syrup its a natural lo cal sweetner (really good in greek yogurt) oh and honey! when i'm feeling sluggish I eat a table spoon of honey |

that is just down right unnecessary. Significant others are suppose to help boost your confidence, my boyfriend tells me i'm beautiful even when i have a stomach virus and im pooping and barfing at the same time (haha sorry), even though im sure i look like hell, he still makes the effort to help me feel better.and like what kymodoke said, its all about the tailoring and fabrics. Unfortunetly cheaper clothes are made poorly, even the really cute stuff and generally only looks good on certain body types. I've realized its better to save my money for pieces that are made well and fit really well than buying cheaper clothes that will loose their shape after one wash. I'm bottom heavy and i had to do some research online as to what designers/brands catered towards my shape and i've found some really flattering stuff. Your boyfriend is obviously VERY immature and doesn't understand how much of a struggle it is to loose weight and look your best. Remember though this is about YOU not him and how he makes you feel. |

I HIGHLY recommend doing yoga during your period. I sometimes have severe cramping to the point of feeling nauseous, but the deep breathing and stretching of yoga really helps to minimize the pain and its also good for the mind! |

after any intense workout I generally gain between 1 and 2.5lbs, I do yoga mostly which isn't that intense but once or twice a week I'll try to encorporate an hour or so of cardio and a half hour of muscle training. Within a day or two of not doing an intense workout my weight goes back down and I definitely get rid of the excess water weight. It works differently for everyone, but its certainly not a "real" gain |

well if you have a soul you won't drink starbucks. None of their coffee is fair trade, at one point they claimed to be fair trade brewers and only ONE type of their coffee was fair trade. Now none of them are. Do you know what CHILDREN in other countries go through to bring you your delicious coffee every morning? Go to trader joes or whole foods, buy a couple of bags of fair trade coffee and call it a day. It will save money and calories, and you're a better person for it.

| Weight Loss | Can eating slow(er) help weight loss? | Aug 12 2008 22:48 (UTC) |

digestion begins in the mouth, if you eat quickly you probably won't realize how full you are until you've already eaten too much. I have stomach issues, and i started paying attention to how quick i was eating, i start chewing more and slower and i ate about half of what i usually do and was full..plus my stomach wasn't upset. i believe it. |

| Health & Support | my body is so ugly.. | Aug 10 2008 23:09 (UTC) |

well first you need to seek professional help of some kind, whether its a therapist or a nutritionist, i suggest both. Secondly you have to accept that healthy successful weight loss may not be quick, and may actually take quite a while. This should be a lifestyle and not merely a crash diet. Crash dieting inevitably leads to weight gain. Also, evaluate why you want to lose weight, if its motivated by vanity it will be more frustrating. Sure we all want to look good, but weight loss should be more about being healthy in the long run...and that means having healthy realistic goals. |

i would advise to stay far away from pre-packaged meals. although relatively low-cal, they are packed with sodium and other nasty preservatives that have their side effects. I would recommend eating a very clean diet, its better for your mind and body. Although time consuming and more expensive, cooking foods from fresh organic ingredients will make you feel so much better |

generally overall weight loss works best. There isn't such a thing as spot reduction, so upping your cardio will definitely help. |
