| Thanks for your feedback! It's nice to know I am not alone in this. I definately have to think of this as a lifestyle change and to just do it, and not think about it. That's the hardest part for me. My weight for the most part has been pretty steady, I haven't gained within the past 2 years but I haven't lost any either. I find the hardest part is trying not to look at the whole picture and all the weight I want and have to lose but rather take your advice and set small goals. I'm thinking of going to a nutritionist here in my town who will weigh you weekly and provide you with a menu plan (meals are following Canada Food Guide and easy to prepare and find ingredients to). Her services are very cheap ($5/wk) and I know a few people who've had a lot of success going to her. I'm also joining the gym (again) lol tomorrow. I have a buddy to go to the gym with now so we're going to try to keep each other motivated.
I don't mind that you've added me to your friends list. Having someone to motivate you is great! |

| Ugh...I had a bad weekend! Definately have to get back on track. I have 6 weeks to reach my goal of a 12-15 pound weight loss. I feel the difference from not having exercised or having eaten well this weekend. I definately feel better when I'm doing both and living healthy and hope to get back on track today. | |||

| Does anyone have quick and easy meal ideas for hot summer days? I work 9-5 and by the time I walk home from work I'm tired and the 31 degree temperature doesn't make me want to cook. We don't have a BBQ and I find I want to eat less but snack on things that aren't good for me. Any suggestions? | |||

| Congratulations to motivateme320 (crystal) and rtd on your weight losses for the week and a big kudos to patrasha as that ice cream sounds too good to pass up but you did it anyway! I agree Crystal that getting off track with one meal isn't a big deal. I've finally come to terms with the fact that this is a lifestyle change and that completely depriving myself of something isn't going to work.
I find that creating a menu for the week really helps or at least having your meals planned the day before. Then every Sunday mom, sister and I got out for a meal and treat ourselves. It's never anything bad like fast food but rather a steak, or chicken or seafood but just something we don't have to cook ourselves. And if we go somewhere where we know the portions are too big my mom and I will split something. As for you shoeofkuribo, don't bother with the Atkins. I tried it for about a week and by the end I was exhausted and had major headaches due to lack of carbohydrates. You're on the right track with counting calories and learning what food choices are smart choices. I think everyone here is doing great and seeing such losses like motivateme320's (as I want to lose 100 pounds) is such a great movitator for me and I'm sure for all of us. We're all in this together :) |

| Hey everyone. Just wanted to say that Day 1 is finally over. It wasn't too bad and I ended up being 109 calories under my daily calorie goal. I went biking for an hour this evening and worked up a pretty good sweat. However, I refused to get out of bed for my 30 min walk this morning and didn't walk home from work so I gotta stop making excuses starting tomorrow.
I have a short term goal to lose some weight by September as I just found out I'm going on a spontaneous trip to California in early September. I don't know if this is unrealistic or not but I'd love to lose 15 pounds in the next 6 weeks? Even just be down a size so that I can feel a bit better and be able to shop and get some nice clothes without leaving the stores upset because I'm not a size 6. A big congrats to the "losers" that I've seen posting their success!!! GREAT JOB everyone :) Everyone here seems to be so motivating and you guys are really inspiring to me and I hope I can achieve the success that you guys have :) Cheers!~ |

| I totally agree decurion. That's why I wouldn't join Weight Watchers or LA Weight Loss. I know lots of ppl who've joined and lost the weight and it's great that it works for ppl but I don't like the idea of going there and not losing anything and feeling like a failure or being shamed. That's just my opinion of course and on the other hand I know they do a great job at keeping ppl motivated but I like this forum bc it's completely anonymous but you still have the support. | |||

| Hey Joanna. I'm new to cc.com as well and I just wanted to say that the biggest step you've taken so far and probably the most important was joining the site and admitting that you want to lose weight. That was the hardest part for me. Finally admitting that I am overweight and am at risk for far too many health problems when I get older. I started my lifestyle change about 5 weeks ago and have lost 11 pounds so far. I've started by maintaining portion control and cutting out the fast food and junk. As for excercise I started off slowly by walking 3 nights a week. Now I walk home from work everyday which is between 1.5 and 2 miles and it's all on an incline. It takes me about 30 mins or so. I've also started biking again and do that about 4 times a week.
Just realize you've already made a huge step and be proud of that. And I see you've already lost a lot of weight already and that can be used as a big motivator! That's such an accomplishment and you should be proud of yourself!!! Just start off doing a little at a time and realize it's a lifestyle change and not a diet. And we're all facing the same struggles and can help each other and support each other! :) |

| Hello! My name is Jennifer and I am starting to use cc.com at 5'4 and 240 pounds. I've never said that to anyone and I cannot believe that I've gained 100 pounds in the past 6 years. I've finally decided to start coming to grips with my weight problem and realize that it's not about dieting but about making a lifestyle change. I started watching what I eat about 6 weeks ago and started walking home from work everyday and I've lost 11 pounds so far. My brother introduced me to this site and I wish I had found it sooner.
I'm really hoping to stay motivated and that is what I'm looking for out of this group and hope that I can do the same for others. My goal weight as of now is 150 pounds by September 1, 2008 and hopefully down to 130 pounds by December 1, 2008. I'm wish you Sarah! |
