Hi Mutoko, It sounds like you've hit a plateau. I wouldn't worry so much about gaining .3 lbs because this could be a result of anything from temporarily retaining more water or *not to be crude* not using the the bathroom. Upping the calories could definitely work - its seemed to work for a lot of people on this site. If that doesn't work, you could also try changing what time you are eating. Although a lot of people believe it doesn't matter what time you eat - personally for me - moving my heavier meals to earlier in the day has helped me. |

| Weight Loss | Confidence? What is that? | Jun 04 2009 02:50 (UTC) |

I definitely went through this during my first two years of college as well. In high school many of us still have curve-less fat-less bodies and then we start to develop more womanly curves and our bodies change and that can be hard to accept if you were anything like me and ate whatever you wanted in HS without gaining a lb. I don't think I ever even thought about feeling fat or my weight or even owned a scale. *sigh*. I know its rough and girls are brutal - and when I gained what I estimate to be 15-20 lbs I felt really self-conscious as well. I was mortified when I ran into anyone from HS because I felt like they were thinking "wow she got fat" - which is ridiculous because 20 or 30 lbs doesn't make someone "fat". My ex-boyfriend saw my curvier pictures online and actually IM'd me to tell me "you got fat" - very harsh. People can be cruel. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you some people won't notice or won't judge because people can be shallow. I agree with everyone that said to get some cute new outfits because this really did give me confidence. Get a new haircut, get your nails done, get a new hot push up bra - these are definitely little fixes but they work! They will make you feel pretty and sexy. Also, almost all of the people I knew in HS gained weight in college too so I promise you're not the only one. Most of the people will be too busy worrying about their own weight to really notice or pay attention to yours. Honestly, unless you are getting wasted and eating burritos at 2am every night, this new body is probably closer to how your body will look in the future. I lost the weight from college but my hips will never ever fit into the tiny narrow pants I used to wear. My body has a completely new shape and I've learned to own it! Be proud of your new womanly body - once you start getting active and loosing some access fat you'll prob feeling hotter than you ever did in HS. Hope this helps! |

Hi! Loosing those last 5 lbs has been so tough for me too! I also recently lost about 10 lbs and i've hit a plateau for the past few months and have not been able to get over it! I keep hovering at my current weight (114-117) and I would really like to get down to 112! I really dont like going to the gym but I've upped my cardio workouts and I try to be active on the weekends too. The hardest part is eating good on weekends! Anything I lose during the week I gain right back on the weekends because I dont work out and I eat so much. |

Definitely the best thing you can do for yourself is dont keep anything sweet or snack-ish in the house. Only keep things that you have to cook so that you will be too lazy to make it. |

Thanks I will try those things! I definitely consume a lot of sugar and salt and don't get enough fiber in my diet. I've recently started craving sugar like crazy so I probably need to get that under control. Gadzooks, I'm 5'5" - I'm pretty happy with my body / weight as it is but I still have flab around my legs and stomach that I'm trying to get rid of. You can't really turn flab into muscle. Even though I do strenght training the muscles dont show bc they are covered by the flab so I figure I have a few more lbs to lose.

I definitely agree that it has a lot to do with the person's frame. I'm 5'5" and weigh 114 and I think this is the ideal weight for me because I have a small friend but I have friends who look the same as I do but they weigh more. There is no ideal weight for everyone. |

I know how you feel. I lost about 15 lbs myself over the past 3 months and my boyfriend didn't say anything about it either. He knew I was trying to lose weight and I mentioned to him that my clothes fit better but he never said anything about how I lost weight. I can understand your frustration because you want him to tell you how great you look and make you feel like all your hard work paid off! The thing is, your boyfriend thought you were sexy before and he probably hasn't noticed because he still thinks you're sexy now. Boys aren't good at noticing differences such as a different haircut, or losing some weight, or a new pair of shoes, they just aren't very observant. I also think guys are afraid to say anything at all about our weight because of the stigma that men care too much about how girls look and how much we weigh. He might not want to say anything about your weight because he's not sure how you will respond. I also have to agree that its not such a bad thing that your boy isn't weight obsessed. Don't you think you would be sort of insulted if he was overly excited or supportive of your weight loss? Try and pay attention to subtle compliments he may be trying to give you like 'you look really sexy today', he may be trying to tell you without being over explicit about your weight loss.
Hope this helps!! |

| Weight Loss | No eating after. . . . | Mar 19 2009 16:21 (UTC) |

This really worked for me, I used to weight about 129 (I'm 5'5") and i stopped eating after 4PM, sounds drastic but its really not hard if you have a large filling breakfast and lunch. I lost 10-15 lbs easily and now I weight 115. I would also allow myself to eat whatever I want on the weekends so that I didn't deprive myself from going out to dinner with boyfriends / friends. Hope this helps! |

| Yeah I am definitely eating enough, I'm not counting calories too carefully but I know I eat about 1400 to 1500 a day, and I only do 30 minutes of cardio 3-4 times a week. I'm hoping its just the water retention so I'm gonna take everyone's advice and just keep working at it to see if I drop any weight. |

| i work in institutional sales support, which means i'm in charge of making sure that trades done between sales traders and my clients (i have 400 of them) are succesfull. So i deal with lots of one-off situations and having to track down trades that aren't settling. We use over 15 difference systems, and we are bombarded with hundreds of emails and lists of failing trades and the issues go on and on. just thinking about it makes me wanna cry again. i hate it, i hate it so much. i wanna quit more than anything but i just spent 4 years in college and i have rent to pay so i'm in no position to do any such thing. | |||

| i'm 5'5", 116 lbs. I'm somewhere between a size 2-4 depending on the brand. When i buy jeans though, i'm a size 27 because i have big hips so my goal is to get down to a 25 or 26. | |||

| I know how you feel. I used to be stuck at 125 too and my metabolism is the same as yours too. When I ate a whole lot.. i didn't gain, but when i didn't eat much i didn't lose any either. What finally got me out of the slump was eating a bigger lunch and a smaller dinner earlier on in the day. Not sure why but I guess this made me eat less and somehow got me past my plateau. Good luck! |

| Weight Loss | >>Carb question | Jul 15 2007 13:02 (UTC) |
|
| I love carbs, so I usually eat around 50% carbs or more depending on the day. A lot of people say that carbs don't fill you up, but i don't feel satisfied until I have a little so if that's what you need then don't deprive yourself of them. Just make sure you're staying under with your calories. | |||
