mark me at 258.5 on friday - which is up 3.5 from before xmas, but down 5 from the total gain I saw over Xmas.

been a crazy month since the weekend before Xmas - trip back home to family, lost a girlfriend, and got a job that is moving me from Phoenix to Seattle, and I caught a massive cold on the plane...which has totally killed my workout schedule.

oh well, moving in the right direction again.  will be spending this week in a hotel while training and doing all the NEO stuff, so wish me luck in finding stasis while eating out every day - I can do this!

the bus has turned around - I am down!  I am down!

hit 256 yesterday and stayed on it all day - 255 this morning...down 4 from last week (which was an up 2 week) and 3 lbs shy of 50 lbs lost...

gonna maintain this over the week in Minnesota - wish me luck.  I want 252 for New Years, is that too much to ask?

grrr - i was hiding out, because the 259 on my scale was a 2 lb gain...and I figured, I better use this weekend to fix that - right?

well, it didn't work so well, my appetite is out of control right now and I need to get back on top of it...been eating the small snacks and medium sized meals and it just doesn't ever satisfy...too much stress and worry over these weeks, I guess.

I am looking to just maintain and try to get back to the 257, but I am north of 260 again as of this morning and have to get this bus turned around.

this morning's weigh in: 257 - that is down 2 lbs from last week and I think it really wanted to go lower, but just didn't have the courage! :)

Had a good week and have my sights set on 252 for Xmas.  All I want for Christmas is to hit the 50 lb marker! OK, I kid, I kid...

so rastnim, did you hit 116?

munsey? did you lighten your load or yo-yo back up a smidge?

wow rastnim, that is a serious amount of weight to drop at your size - almost 5% of your total body weight.

(tries to imagine losing 15 pounds in one week...and can't)

that is absolutely awesome!  we all knew it HAD to be phantom weight...

nice rebound.

me?  hmm.  well, I worked out some, but had a very busy week and only was able to reach back to 259.0 - which is flat from 2 weeks ago, but recovers my gains from turkey week.  I think a bit more late night discipline and a workout on Wednesday would have pushed me down another pound or two...just a little too slack right now on my regime.

looking forward to this weekend and next week - and to pushing onward to 252, the 50 pound marker!  37 more pounds to goal.

I was in Vegas, so I missed the weigh ins, but I was 262.5 when I got back on Saturday Night and hit 261 this morning...so I am up a few, but aiming to slip back into the 250s come Friday.

Vegas was fun, was able to equalize turkey day and eating out with a few small workouts, a nature walk (5 miles on mostly flat ground), and lots of running around between the shops and the Strip.

My heel is much better - thank you accupuncture!  It still aches a bit, but I can stand on it, and I can do the eliptical machine again.

good luck and speedy recovery munsey...

I will be in Vegas next week for t-day (visiting family in Henderson) - so it could be interesting indeed.

I hit 258 yesterday for the week's low but bounced back a bit again this morning for my official friday weigh in:  259.5

I will take it!  down a pound and breaking through the 260s...

To celebrate, I slid into my 36s this morning and they actually fit, a big snug, but very doable - wow!  (to translate, this has been like going from a 22W to a 12 - lol)  Managed a 22 mile bike ride on Wednesday, but no exercise last night cost me - this body needs the work, that is for sure.

Foot still hurts and looks like a long-term (4-6 week) type bone bruise...so, no Holiday Tri-athlons for me...but I will not let turkey day destroy my diet...my concern right now is my growing interest in breads and refined wheat products - been letting myself indulge here and there and it has triggered a craving...LAME!!!

thanks for the concerns munsey.  the x-rays looked negative and my foot is feeling much better after a few days.

the bike was repaired quickly (a few tweaks and re-truing the wheels and we are all better) and even my road rash doesn't hurt much at this point.

Rode a short 2-mile trip to the store on Saturday and felt fine, the pedal puts the pressure on the front of my foot more than the heel.  Managed to go to spin class and did the weight-circuit training before it this morning and did fine...no major pain in the foot except for making the mistake of putting my weight on it for a stretch at the end - ouch!

so - it looks like I can exercise some, but definately no running and maybe no ellipse for a while (haven't tried it yet) - the bike actually felt fine, amazingly well considering how sharp the pain is when I try to just stand on my foot.

gonna try to stay on track for this week, but am up a few this weekend...will be work just to get back to even.

good luck munsey, i hope your surgery goes smooth and your recovery is fast and complete.

hit 260.5 this morning - down 2 from last week.  could have been more but I dumped my bike last night and messed myself up a bit.

I will be ok, but instead of karate practice and 10+ miles of biking, I got 3 miles of bike, a big crash, and then decided to drink a few shots to numb the pain...road rash sucks!

will be interesting to see if I can figure out how to exercise this weekend, it feels like I shattered the bottom of my foot.  going to go see the doctor today.

grrr - so close to the 250s...

sorry for the late add - but this was a busy weekend and I wasn't in front of a computer very often.

friday was 262.5, down 2 from the previous week's weigh in, but even with the low bounce from last week.  will have my work cut out for me this week...but I do want to get into the 250s - NOW!

side note - did my first triathlon (sprint) this weekend, 400meter swim, 10 mile bike and 3 mile run (or speed walk, in my case) - it was fun and I will definately do it again...such a cool way to validate all the hard work.

and dorn - way to bust through the 200 mark - like it wasn't even there!

and yeah, you might slow down some...biggest watch out now is the hunger cravings, make sure you are still getting the nutrition your body needs - even if it isn't getting the calories.

bah, it was destined to happen, right?  my bounce happened yesterday...and I am back up this morning

264.5 - down .5 lbs. - but hit the sea level mark of 262.5 yesterday, so I think I am just over hydrated! :)

look forward to reporting a sub-262 figure next week...and munsey, you should be happy, if you thought this week was gonna be a gain and you still lost - you won!

another frustrating week of weighing higher than my friday weigh in (spent weekend in San Diego and missed both my weekend workouts) but capped off with a morning weigh in of 265.

265.0 - down 1 pound.  I will take it and run to next week, where if I can get to 262, I will hit the 40 pound loss marker!

dorn, i totally get the XL shirt thing, I have moved down 6 sizes in my pants and almost two sizes in my shirts (from 4X to a tight-ish 2X) - for me, it was buying a pair of 38s and putting them on and having them FIT!  Something I haven't seen in over four years.

munsey - you rocked another solid week - keep it going, choo choo!

the scales are trying to make me go crazy too - four pounds, nicely done!  and awesome at dropping 2 more for you too munsey (I rounded it up for ya) - you are gonna beat me to the 50s! :)  (of course, I will still have an extra hundred on you)

as for me, despite the weekend climb, the scales showed a steady drop since Monday and I am seeing 266 this morning, which is 2.5 pounds down from last week!

I did work extra hard on Monday and Tuesday - but I think it goes to show that our weight can flux from day to day pretty easy - from 271 to 266 in four days?  impossible.

Just hope this weekend is not like last one, with ever increasing weights - but then, I will be in San Diego visiting some friends, so I doubt I will get many chances to weigh in.

Have great weekends all and see you next week!

call me Monday morning grumpy - but my weigh ins this weekend sucked.

went from 268.5 to 269, to 270 and hit 271 this morning.  I worked out hard and didn't eat that badly.  If anything, I should have maintained my weight or maybe only dropped .5 pounds, not gaining 2.5 pounds!

arghhhh - I am gonna have to work hard this week just to get back to the baseline and I am not sure what I missed.  There is simply no way I ate an extra 10,000 calories this weekend - I didn't even eat out, just a few good meals with the girlfriend.

so, maybe 268.5 was a bit of a low-hydration weight and I am still not quite there?  or I am building 2.5 pounds of muscle (ya, right)

I will see you all, south of 270, by Friday.

excuse me while I brag a bit - but I was on target this week - dropping from 272 last friday to 268.5 this morning!  3.5 pounds and I spent most of the week weighing in south of the 270 mark, feels awesome!

Now I am hoping to close in on 265, then 262 (2 weeks?) when I can celebrate hitting my half-way point of 40 pounds lost.

I am glad I check in here on Fridays, it helps to keep me focused and tracking the losses...

Great job on your drop munsey, looks like you are dialed in this week as well.

hit 272 even this morning - which is the midpoint of a very oddball week, bouncing up to 274, down to 270 and then back up to 273 yesterday...

still, I am down 0.5 pounds for the week after two days of really not putting in my work and eating out a bit too much.

I am heading back to controlled calories...I swear!

Did get 16 miles on the new bike this week, so that is a start.

edit: ps - I guess I will have to wait until next week to brag about hitting the 260s!  (sigh)
Weight Loss My weightloss has been in consistent spurts - why is that? Sep 25 2007

I now retract my earlier statement - as I have continued to diet and lose weight, I am also seeing these mysterious "spurts" of loss, two days at almost no loss then POP - 1.5 lbs gone - my daily tracking graph has started to look much more erratic.

yes, thank you munsey - always look forward to your kudos.

this weekend was a bit of a letdown as I jumped up a few pounds (274.5) on Saturday morning and then tapered back Sunday and Monday morning to get back to 272.5 for this morning's weigh in.

the trend line is intact, but man the bounces suck, feels like my workouts are going in reverse when that happens!

on happier notes, I picked up my sexy new bike this weekend and plan to start riding that a few times a week and I found a hiking/biking partner to help make the miles a bit more fun...

ps - THIS is the best time to live in Phoenix, finally, nice night temps and easy, warm daytime temps...I can start exercising outside!

I am happy to report a 4 lb drop!

Went from 276.5 to 272.5 with a low water mark at 271.5 for the week.

All I can say is that HIIT must be working for me.  (High Intensity Interval Training)  I am up to 2 minute hard, 2 minute soft on the elliptical.

I have dropped a solid 7.5 inches from my big belly and 29.5 pounds from my official start weight of 302.  The only time I feel deprived is when I have to wheel past the Hostess displays and the bread isle at the grocery store, other than that - I am normally satisfied.

Really looking forward to breaking into the 260s!

munsey,

you can afford a few splurges if you can work in the exercises to eliminate the calories...that is the tough part.

as for me, the scale tells me I hit 276.5 this morning, down 3 lbs from last friday - and I did have to stay disciplined to get here this week - but spin class on Sunday and my workout Monday gave me the big boosts...

I can't believe I am thinking this, but I almost wish I didn't have a date tonight, because I totally want to go to the gym and workout to put an exclamation point on the week!

I will be there rise and shine tomorrow morning, so I just need to not eat to heavy tonight and I will be ok.  26.5 pounds lost since July 11...man does that sound good.

is it Friday already?

mark me down to 279.5 - one hard-earned pound melted away!

actually, this week was a roller coaster, from a high weigh in of 283 and then back down through the week to 279.0 yesterday and back up .5 this morning - after seeing 280s all week, I will gladly take anything in the 270s!  even if it is a squeaker.

now, can I make it through two dates and a busy weekend without gaining back 3 pounds like I did last weekend?  No Baklava Flambe for me this week, no sir.

I am happy to report a 2lb drop since last friday - from 282.5 to 280.5!  So close, I can taste the 270s!

Was a close call, I had been on a yoyo all week bouncing from 281 all the way back to 283.5 and then I hit 280.5 this morning, was like music in my ears - but it wasn't easy, to wait out the urge to splurge last night on some late night carbs.

Congrats to the droppers and a "keep your head up" to the few gainers - it is a roller coaster ride we take...and cravings can be brutal, but we are strong.

Also, I find it really helps me these days to weigh at night, right about 10 pm (my prime late snacking hour) to try and predict my morning weigh in weight.  (I know, I know...obsessed)

Anyway, I weigh in at night and it arms me psychologically to avoid the big snack.  I find it hard to give back even a half a pound to that late night urge once I get on the scale and see where I am at.  I know my body will drop about 2 lbs overnight...as long as I don't burn myself with the snack...so when I weigh in, if I am too light, I might have a small snack - but if I am heavy, I tell myself "forget it, you already had too much today" and seem to be better able to avoid the fridge.
Fitness How does everyone stay on the elliptical so long?? Aug 31 2007
00:12 (UTC)

I am with ninja on this - I do interval training and can whiz right through 30 minutes...and I would do more except I always add a swim at the end and need too much time to fit it all in.

interval could be a trick if you are dialing in your resistance, but we do similar in spin class.  make sure your elliptical machine is lubed up and not added extra resistance - or your calorie count could get way off.

I worked my way to a 8 minute warm up, and then alternating one min sprints and and one minute breathers.  I also find that the music I listen to impacts my RPMs...I suggest good trance/house music with a strong bats per minute count if you can tolerate it.

i did my first running day on a 30-day to 5k program myself.

My new goal is to do my first sprint triathlon on my 36th Birthday, Nov 3.  That tri has a 400 meter swim, 12 mile bike and I think it was the 3 mile run.  I am there for the swim and the bike - but the run is the clincher.

Congrats and good luck - I am there with ya!
