Weight Loss Once-a-week Cheat Meals - Success Stories Oct 28 2007

I think the trick is to not go over board.  As with anything, moderation is key.  I dont necessarily do the "cheat meal" thing, but I do allow myself to eat things that I crave--but a small portion.  For example, right now, its Halloween and candy is everywhere!  And if I want a piece, I will have it, but just one.  There are only 72 calories in a snickers fun size bar and I savor every one of them.  If I want pizza, I will have one slice to go with a BIG salad, and maybe add 10 minutes to my cardio workout.

For me, this is about a lifestyle and in life, I gotta allow for pizza Cool

Weight Loss Im Doing My Diet Right, But Im having Trouble Staying Full, IDEAS?! Oct 22 2007

Protein will keep keep you satiated for longer.   Veggies are a good, low call way to fill up.  And make sure you're drinking water.

Just remember, if you are eating multiple, small meals, you're not going to feel "full" necessarily.  You should just eat until you don't feel hungry, you know what I mean?

I found the Tae Bo tapes to be very difficult to follow...  I like Denise Austin and I have a really great Susan Powter one.

I've lived in Portland for 7 years after growing up in CA and I have to say that my first winter here was made easy by full spectrum lighting.  I believe someone above referenced "happy lights" LOL  If you can get your hands on one of those, I would highly recommend it.  Also, If your school has a fitness facility I would recommed using it.  It makes working out in the winter so much easier ;-)

Hi everybody. Hope you're feeling better now Sue. Kate is right - push those fluids!

Dereth - I keep telling myself that I should weigh only once a week, but to get my body to obey is a whole different matter.

Oh, I hear ya!  Sometimes I catch myself eyeballing that little monster and have to get on it, but I just remind myself that it doesn't count Tongue out  Not until I have to write it down.

I caved and had small fries from McDonald's today, but that's the first time since September 21 that I've had ANYTHING fried.  And I'm still within my Cals for the day, so I'm feeling OK about it.  It's about TOTM, so I'm gonna cut myslef a *little* slack and just drink extra water. :)  The thing is, I can already feel the gross...  so I know I don't want to do this again anytime soon.  Hooray!!

I tried doing just the shakes years ago and after 2 days I nearly passed out from not having enough food.  I was so weak.

However, I did their whole "plan" last year and lost 35 pounds.  I liked it because on their site, you get the whole week planned out for you--shopping list and everything.  I like having that kind of regimented plan.  In most cases, you are not consuming ONLY the shakes at meal time.  Plus, the recipies for dinners were delicious!  And, because of the Slim-Fast plan, I gave tomatoes another chance and have now added them to my daily menu.  LOL

The sugar content is really high though in the shakes--it's nice that on their "plan" there are other options.

Weight Loss Lost inches but not weight anyone? Oct 17 2007

Always remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so consider that the fat you've lost has been replaced by muscle and voila!  You've lost inches!!  Smile

Hooray for that, because muscle burns fat quicker too!  It's a win - win situation!!

Congrats and keep it up! Smile

regarding weighing in:  do it once a week, same time of day.  So many things infulence our daily weight fluctuations.  It's also more accurate to weigh yourself BEFORE you work out, since we are most often dehydrated after working out, so we weight less (good, right?) BUT it's deceptive because we'll gain it back as soon as we drink some water ;-)

Ok, so it's been a while since I've posted anything at all, but I'm back! ;-)

I joined a 24 Hour Fitness in August and I was feeling good.  In September, they started their Biggest Loser promotion--5 half-sessions with a trainer and stuff for $49--and I started that on Sept. 20.  My trainer Tommy kicks butt!!  I weighed in at 298 (OMG!!) and he said, "you know what though, we're not going to see that again, so who cares what it says."  On Oct. 1, I had finished my sessions with him and we weighed again, and I was at 288!!!  I lost 10 pounds in 10 days!  Woo!!

Right now, I'm at the gym 5 days a week doing Cardio and some resistance training and I feel GREAT!!!  With the help of CC.com, I'm keeping myself between 1700 and 1900 cals a day (sometimes a little more if I'm really working hard) and I've lost 3 more pounds on my own.  I'm going to start back with Tommy at the end of the month--getting my 10 sessions with him.  I really feel like I can do it this time.  I've got 15 pounds to lose and I'll be back to what I weighed before I quit smoking--back to what I weighed when I met my bf.

*happy dance*

I think it's an ideal workout for someone that is trying to get started working out.  I did it for a month and really felt great, but I didn't feel like I was getting enough out of it.  I added a 20-305 minute walk before or after and felt better about it.  I ultimately left there because I felt that it was too easy for me and I really needed more variety in my workout.

It will be fine!  I mean, if you guys have this profound relationship before you've met...  ;-)  I've met many people online--in fact my last 3 boyfriends have been people I've met online.  It can be a touch awkward, but really if you've already been through a lot, the intial meeting will be a piece of cake.

Oh yeah!  I've been bigger my whole life.  "Chubby" as a kid--I remember being a size 12 in 6th grade and when all my girlfriends were talking about how they weighed 70 pounds, I lied and said I was 85, when I was over 100.  When I was in High School, I found a niche in sports--Track and field, specifically.  I was in the best shape of my life when I was 15-16.  I weighed about 185 and was like 29% body fat.  Since then, I've always had a lot of lean body mass (under the fat, of course LOL).  Of course, now, I'd love to get back there ;)

Hi there!  I'm going to join here too.  I am currently at 284 (eeep!  I think that's the first time I've put it on paper) and am joining this site. Since January, I've gained 14 pounds, but I quit smoking then and also started Nuvaring.  The weight gain was expected, but I really hate it.  I've joined this site to keep myself accountable for my food and exercise.  So far I've been doing great...granted, it's been 2 days, but I feel great about it :)
