Hey! I am a 26 year old fun girl from sunshine-y Lakeland, FL. My goal is to lose another 40 pounds, hopefully about half of that by my birthday in May. Good luck all!

Hi! I am also 26, weigh about 184, but I am 5'9. My goal is 30 lbs also!  I'll be your buddy! I am sick of fad diets, myself, and turned to CC for a lifestyle change.

I was hooked on diet soda, to the point where I was having 6-8 cans of Diet Coke per day. I gave it up cold turkey, and am proud to say I have been soda sober for 2 1/2 months now. I never felt better! I've been drinking tea to get my caffiene.
Weight Loss HELP!!! What do you say to people who don't want you to lose weight? Dec 30 2007

I've learned to not tell the girls at work that I am going on a diet. Even though we all have our diet woes, it's almost like they turn against you when it's your turn. If they bring in something small, like cookies for all of us, it's pretty easy to avoid. If we have a "food day" where everyone brings in a dish, I being in something healthy for myself for lunch and a healthy dish for the day. They usually don't notice I have my own stuff :o)

I love the nacho cheese ones, but am not crazy about the sour cream and onion ones. Quaker also has the 90 calorie packs, and you can't believe how many cakes are actually in there. The cinnamon streusel ones are yummy!

OMG bev1976, I have that exact same photo! I have about 25 more pounds to lose, and I've had to stop telling people, because they make comments like "I don't know where you think it's going to come from, you'll be too skinny", when in reality I will be about 15 pounds heavier than I was in high school.

yes, yes, YES!!! Everyone keeps telling me, "oh, you're skinny, you don't need to lose weight." In the meantime, my BMI was reading as obese and I was 185 lbs. I am 5'9", and granted, not as tall as you, but the weight definately spreads all out, and no one else seems to be able to see it.

my problem is that I am addicted to everything about diet coke, not just the taste. If anyone has tips on how to stop this addiction, please tell! It's not just the caffiene, it's the taste, how it feels. I won't eat pizza without having diet coke to go with it.
Weight Loss Do you guys have cheat days? Sep 11 2007

I have found that when I allow myself a cheat "day", I end up extending it to the next day as well. I just don't have the self-control to allow a whole day for cheating. Instead, if I know I want something, I usually save it to the end of the day, obey my diet, and enjoy the treat after dinner (or after salad, if my cheat treat ios dinner itself). That way, I won't end up eating as much of the bad stuff as I would on an empty stomach.

I was in an extremely unhappy marriage. Whereas my husband made me unhappy, cookies, Little Debbie cakes, chips, popsicles, corn dogs, macaroni and cheese - all made me happy, at least on a short term level. I dropped the loser hubby, and in addition to his 230+ pounds, I've lost 47 of my own!

I take pears canned in juice and dump the whole thing in a small saucepan. Add some vanilla and Splenda brown sugar and simmer it all together. The pears come out super tender and yummy! I usually have it with some low- or non-fat vanilla yogurt.

If I am desperate for something super sweet, I will make up a box of sugar-free, fat-free jello pudding. The cheescake kind is 70 calories per serving. Throw in some sliced strawberries.... now I gotta go make some. Hope this helps!

The Lounge Opinions: Settlement Sep 05 2007

I work as a claims adjuster, though I handle a different type of claim than what you were involved in, where pain and suffering is not an option.

You, not your co-worker, are the only person that can truly determine what $$ amount is the true value for the pain and suffering this accident caused you. Also, when a claim settles, insurance companies (should) factor in what future medical costs you may incur as a result of this accident. Everything is healed and you are fine now, but you may require other care in the future, like cortisone shots if your elbow starts to ache. Once you receive the settlement money from this accident, payment of future medical treatment will be your responsibility.

If you have any doubts, contact your adjuster and have them explain everything in detail for you, if they haven't already. It's usually not final until documents are signed and the money is in your hands.  Best of luck to you!

fitnesskitty,

I handle medical claims in insurance, and can agree with vstar that your attitude and determination will allow you to accomplish what you want or need to. It's going to be difficult, but if you push through it and remind yourself that this situation is only temporary, there's no reason you can't have a full recovery. I wish you the best!

Congrats on your self-control!

I've discovered a way to twart the evil plots of my co-workers. Every birthday, someone gets cake. If I simply refuse a piece, they pull the whole "just eat one piece, it won't hurt anything" routine. Now I take a VERY small piece (since they want me to hve it so badly anyway), mush it around on my plate, and throw the whole thing away. It's oddly therapeutic to destroy something I wouldn't mind having.

Also, when we have food days at work, we usually have at least one veggie tray and a fruit bowl. Everyone else can have the fried chicken and gooey mexican food.

if sodium isn't an issue, try popcorn salt, or even seasoned salt. I rarely salt my food, but I make an exception for popcorn. If I don't feel like having salt on it, I'll dip in in salsa instead. So good!

I was 5'9" and 125 pounds. I thought I was a cow,  A) because I was taller than everyone; and B) because I was a juniors size 7 and my 5'5" friend was a size 5.

I didn't know at the time that I was WAY too skinny.

my last bad craving was cake and ice cream (it's birthday season in these here parts), and I gave in, but only after having a healthy dinner. It cut down on the amount of the sweets I had, and I didn't feel deprived.

I've placed myself on Cap'n Crunch w/Crunch Berries restrictions. I will eat bowl after bowl, even though it tears up the roof of my mouth. In those minutes it takes to eat them, I just don't care about the pain :)

The Lounge Pit Bulls - My city just banned them Aug 21 2007
13:08 (UTC)
I had 2 pitbulls that were the sweetest, most lovable dogs I'd ever owned. They were only agressive toward smaller animals when they got close to our fenced in yard. And by "fenced-in", I'm talking 8 foot tall fencing with no dog house near the edges, so jumping was not an option for them. These dogs were even around my 2 yr old niece with no problems, he just licked her face.

Bottom line is: you hear about an attack, you're instantly cautious about that breed. Not all pitbulls are created equal :)

Congratulations on your willpower! I have the hardest time with the ladies at work. They can't accept that I try to stay away from sugary treats, and end up trying to make me feel bad when I say no, like I am insulting the birthday girl or something.

I just tell myself now that I have a goal to reach. If I am having a HUGE craving for it, I'll have a small piece. But mostly I stick to my guns.

I personally hate Wal-Mart. My friend's mom has worked in the same store for more than 10 years. Their's is a smaller store, and a few years back underwent renovations (putting the wood floors down in the clothing sections). They did not get opinions from the workers to do the renovations, and that year did not pay the employees their Christmas bonuses to cover the renovation costs. Those employees had become dependant on their yearly Christmas bonuses and got cheated out of them.
