Foods Suggestions for Sweet Drinks (Dairy and/or Fruity) Jul 24 2007

Now I'm not dissing anyone elses drink, but this is the drink you HAVE to try. I'm telling you- its what you want.

Stick mango flesh and ice in a blender and blend until its super smooth. It gets to a point where it tastes creamy...almost.

Filling, nutritious, delicious and my favourite drink of all time!
Foods Popcorn in UK Jul 24 2007
16:04 (UTC)
I aggree with you about the high calorie microwave popcorn, but Plain unpopped popcorn is readily avaliable in the UK- any supermarket will have it. It's the toppings on the 400cal packs that rack it up so high. So cooking your own popcorn in a little oil, but flavouring with salt instead of butter/sugar is still much healthier. And air poppers are only about 15 quid from argos so they are worth the investment if you like popcorn (Just ignore the butter melter on top!)

I drink 1/2 a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice topped up with club soda. It's nice and refreshing, vitamin rich and a break from plain water.

Just saw the last bit about other aussie stuff, ANZAC biccies, Lamingtons, macaroons, shapes, dried apricots, vegemite, twisties, darell lea licorice (officially the best in the world) I can tell you from experience even if they don't like it (vegemite, licorice) they'll love that you brought traditional stuff. Anything you like, they will and most stuff from aussie can't be bought anywhere else. Hope that helps!

1. Weigh the clothes you wore for the weigh in last week and then find some lighter ones

2. Go for a mammoth work out, and don't drink anything till after the weigh in ( I suggest you have a big bottle of water ready!)

3. Give Blood (1 litre = 1 kilo or 2.2 Lbs)

4. Go to the toilet :D

Gd Luck!

clairelaine that looks like a fantastic substitute for white sauce- will definately try it. Don't know if anyone is still interested but if I calculated correctly and it would make enough for 12 cans- its 107 calories per "can".

Vegetable shortening is better than beef and that swap will work for almost all recipes- but depending on the recipe, you can also swap it for margerine or a low cal butter like spread? This is definately possible for pastry- but store bought pastry is much healthier anyway as they can use vegetable oil instead (virtually impossible in home cooking!) Good Luck with your cooking- I LOVE being in the kitchen, and knowing what goes into your food is a serious plus when watching your cals!

Fitness treadmills vs excersise bikes Jul 19 2007

In terms of calories, I was told you burn more from the treadmill as its a load bearing excersise form- makes sense to me? aggree with jill on the back ache- I don't sit right on an excersise bike, a bit too hunched I think.

Tuna salad pita is really good and very nutritious! 1/2 can of tuna, 2 tsps light mayo, 2 tsps (or to taste...i like lots!) of balsamic vinegar, plus cucumber, lettuce, tomato or whatever- mixed up in a pita?

I also like egg pita, with one boiled egg chopped up and mixed with 2 tsps light mayo, tomato, lettuce cucumber in a pita.

Hope this helps
