| Foods | Cheapest Healthy Foods? | Nov 13 2008 03:58 (UTC) |

oats are cheap and great for breakfast, so are eggs and frozen fruits and veggies. bulk pasta and beans are great for dinners. canned soups are so cheap and potatoes for baked potatoes with veggies is a good affordable dinner. bags of baby carrots are not very expensive and apples are a less expensive fruit. its also really important to keep in mind that when cutting back financially, healthy food shouldn't be the first place. you will spend more money on medical bills eventually! |

| Weight Loss | Scale Question! | Nov 12 2008 06:17 (UTC) |

i use a digital and i think most people do, just because it gives you a visual number that's wasy to track progress (or lack of!) its natural for scales to differ, next time you are the gym or doctor's office weigh yourself and then you will get a better idea. there really isn't an answer as to which scale of yours is right |

| i totally understand because i went/go through the exact same cycle. the biggest thing is to make sure you are eating enough calories through out the day, that way you're not starving and playing catch up at night. second, after dinner have a little something sweet if you do dessert (i always have a little dark chocolate) then brush your teeth, drink a tall glass of water and pop in a piece of gum. it helps to stay busy and turn off the kitchen light for the night. it's just a habitual behavior you HAVE to break, just go with the flow and chew that gum! | |||

| Thank you to everyone who replied...so many good tips! Even some great unexpected ones! I wanted chocolate and mint, so I had a couple mini york peppermint patties and it was so yummy. I hope everyone else enjoys filling their chocolate cravings too! | |||

| i am staying at the venetian in las vegas and they have a really great "health center" where i can do some cardio at least a couple times during the week, it just means waking up really early. i think my biggest thing is that i am maintaining my weight and am just worried about food choices because salad only goes so far...thank you so much for both of your imput. i will for sure get the bars you both suggested. one more question about the 500 calorie defecit: is that applicable for all people when they are wanting to lose weight or maintain weight? where does the 500 calorie defecit theory come from? | |||
| The Lounge | Finding Jeans for my long legs is IMPOSSIBLE!! | Aug 21 2007 17:14 (UTC) |

| It totally depends on how much you want to spend, especially if you are still losing weight...you probably dont want to spend a lot on a pair of jeans that you dont plan on wearing very long. Lucky Brand makes all their womens styles in long and extra long. the extra long inseam is 36 1/2". Also on the more premuim denim side Joe's jeans makes a fit called the "twiggy", it is a really great basic bootcut jean in a 36" inseam. Lastly, 7 for all mankind makes their basic bootcut in a long which is also a 36" length. 7 and Joes are both available at nordstrom and shopbop.com, Lucky Brand has their own website and many stores across the country. Depending on where you live, they may even be available at your local macys. GOOD LUCK! | |||

| the easiest way to answer your question is no. you need to go to a doctor/nutritionist immediatly to figure out the best way to go about losing weight the way that's best for you. no one should be eating 500 calories a day no matter how much they weigh. its about making changes for life, not drastic and unrealistic ones that will just mess up your body. good luck on your new journey! | |||

| Weight Loss | What do I do? I can't eat enough to satisfy myself. | Aug 05 2007 02:25 (UTC) |

| make sure your three meals include protein, fiber and a healthy fat. grilled chicken with lots of veggies and olive oil is really basic and well-rounded. plus i would say you should totally feel free to eat unlimited veggies...even when counting calories. dense foods like oatmeal, natural peanut butter and other nuts fill you up and keep you satisfied a lot longer then other foods. also have you tired eating 3 meals and two snacks? sometimes people react better to that eating program because you aren't waiting constantly for your next big meal. the follwing sched. could help: 8 am breakfast 11 am snack 1 pm lunch 4 pm snack 6pm dinner | |||

| staying hydrated and staying active helps with bloating. also instead of binge eating which made me feel and look bloated, it has really helped me to try to distribute my calories throughout the day instead of eating a lot in one sitting. for me, it was harder to have a healthy relationship with food again if i wasn't eating rationally. its like going from A (eating almost nothing) to Z (eating large amounts) when really we should all be learning to eat at N (right in the middle). everyone is different and finding a personal comfort zone with a meal plan that you are comfortable with not only now during your weight gain period, but one that also works for life is the best way to go. drastic measures are what got us here in the first place. | |||
