Been married to hubby 10 years now! His weight went up then down, so did mine. It was funny he actually gained more weight with my first two pregnancies than I did!  We never stopped loving each other and we never criticized each other for the weight gains, but boy did we ever praise the other one for the weight losses!  He has always made me feel freaking gorgeous, even when I was at my heaviest- and frankly I see him as one hot dude.   I am very well aware the rest of the world might not see us that way -  but I love him more today than I ever have and it is nice when after all this time he can still give me goosebumps when he kisses the back of my neck!!

Can I just say oh my crap to about 3/4 of these posts! So many Everybody needs to do this or Everybody should do that.... Parents aren't given a manual specially tailored to each child's need (mores the pity) and we do the best we can with the tools we are given.

Some parents might feel fine with allowing kids to roam about free. I am not one of those parents. I cannot feel comfortable allowing my kids to kids to ride the L  or subway alone no matter what city they lived in. Even as teenagers a buddy system is a must! Talk to any cop, they will tell you the same thing.  I also believe in making my kids do their homework before they can go out to play, and have a strict rule that I must know where my kids are at all times. The 8 yr old has a rule he may not stay out past dinner time.

The 3 little ones are constantly watched because of their autism, so I am not sure that is even in the same league. I am a helicopter parent and proud of it. I do believe in consequences and my kids know they need to figure out how to solve things on their own. Yes I hover, but I also stand back and let them experience and learn and grow - while I am watching. Hovering is NOT interfering.

I try my best not to instill fear and just let them grow up, but I have know too many people who have said "I never thought it could happen to my child". You see even just one mother collapsing in unsurmountable and paralyzing grief over the coffin of her child and it kind of changes they way you look at the world.  I don't give two *!@#s  about the statistics and how low they look. Crap happens, no matter how safe we want to feel.

SO far my typical child (what we moms of autistic kids call our kids without autism) is respectful, honest, polite, smart, makes good decisions, and I sincerely thank god for them all everyday.

I do agree that some schools carry things too far and try to legislate parenting (which make me even angrier than people ignoring their kids) but that is a different topic now isn't it...) Smile

we had two goldfish, (ok, one was silver but hey I 'm no expert) Bob and Larry. Larry LOVED his reflection, (we had the bowl on the wet bar) and Bob was just mean to it. He actually tried attacking it for nearly two and a half years! I may have had neurotic fish, and I might have contributed to that - but the kids thought it was down right hill - air- ee - ous!

Kathygator, I believe you started something a page or so back... I think giggle needs to try on both, Just to see if he has that fabled near perfect a$$ for the thong, or if he would be like just about everyone else and look amazing in the boy shorts.

( for the record, I am NOT one of those who can pull off the boy shorts thing. Not flattering to the thighs-  but hey, maybe giggle has better legs than I do...If not, may I suggest a nice low french cut? They work wonders for those of us who have had kids... ) Innocent

My hubby would stare at you blankly if you asked him that question - which is ok, I didn't marry him because I even dreamed he would remember stuff like that.  I like it better that he helps with the dishes and tells me how sexy I look when I am really not.  But "our song" at our wedding nearly 10 years ago was Jim Brickman's  The Gift.

lots of good ones mentioned here, but what about Freakaziod! Short run, and I wasn't a kid anymore, but I loved it! My boys still watch Voltron (internet is a great thing BTW), Mazinger Z and Grandizer. Thier dad was a huge fan, so he passed it along to them - and they love it. I have yet to meet a little boy that doesn't love huge robots and badly synced up voice overs! I used to watch G-Force as a kid (see, even little girls like bad translators) and Star Blazers. Thinks to self...Hmmm, Japanimation .... maybe that's why I married hubby....Smile

Original Post by giggle_puppy:

marriage is just a word... keep that in mind.

yes, but to a lot of people it is a word with meaning. It also creates documentation for future generations.  ( my pet quirk I guess)

I agree with chris1208 in that premarital counseling or at the very least a plan of where you want to be in 10 years might help. What are his dreams, where does he want to be 10 years from now? Are these compatible?  Keep in mind life throws sticks ( OK LOGS) at you once in awhile so even the best laid plans can be shot to he!! in a hand basket. But are your core values the same?

Hope all works out for you.  and let us know~Smile

I will wince and dodge all the icy stares when I stand up and proudly say I am PERSONALLY ( meaning for myself only)  SO against living together.

It has nothing to do with religion or cows or milk or whatever. It has to do with the fact that human beings are creatures of comfort. We get complacent in whatever situation works. I  wanted a family with a husband and 2.5 kids and the white picket fence - well you get the idea.   I knew that if I wanted those things, I would need to set of on the road that would take me to that final destination. I knew that if I lived with a guy, and were compatible - that would make it even worse. We would both get into our little ruts and before we knew it we would be 65 watching Jeopardy in our PJs with still no rings.

You might say, so what does it matter? You stayed together, you had a happy life, why do you care?  I know people very content with this and I say Kudos to them.

I am just selfish and want more. In 1,000 years from now, I want my descendants to look back on their family tree and not wonder who great granddad was. I want them to know that I loved a man enough and he loved me enough to declare it to the eternities.

Right now hubby and I are only on year 10, so we have awhile to go yet, but you get the picture.... Smile

The Lounge what is "craiglist" Jan 20 2008
21:24 (UTC)

Concur with alle0299.  I have used this SO much and think it can be an invaluable tool if you use it right. I have sold everything from an entertainment center to used moving boxes and have bought everything from canning jars to a washer and dryer.  It's level of accountability is about that of the free want add papers out there. Of course there will be some scammers out there, but use your brain, keep your eyes open - and get some phenomenal deals out of it.

People use craigs list (at least me and those I know) to get rid of items fast, not to get top dollar. I usually don't even look at postings more than 2 days old as they are usually already gone anyway.

The Lounge Just curious. Ladies, do you wear makeup daily? Jan 15 2008

Every weekday morning I put make up on. I use the cream versions of everything as it goes on with a finger and takes a total of about 3 minutes to completely do my make up. It really helps me get going when I feel put together. I don't have a lot of cash either, so I use just plain old lotion for dry skin for all my facial needs. It just happens to work for my skin type luckily. I really like the those more expensive brands, but we make choices on how to spend our money, and somehow that just always falls by the wayside...

edit: Saturdays I am a lazy stink  and stay in my PJs if at all possible until at least 10:00 or maybe even even noonLaughing!

I have had tons of company, so I haven't had the time to go check in for a couple days, Boy how exciting to get going! I know this has most likely been covered, but please reiterate for me how you want this to go. #1 Where do you want me to post weigh ins ( original height weight post etc, a new one each week, or a separate spreadsheet?) #2 What day is weigh in again? #3 if we want to do the challenge do we report that in our weigh ins? I think I am on the Hot Mamma (hildib's) team.

I guess that my lighthearted and very convoluted point was that I burn all these calories all day,  running what I feel is akin to a marathon each day, yet I am STILL NOT Skinny, while most of these lovely ladies who do not have the "chasing kids caloric burn" have such  of nice small waists! Smile
