uhhh...i gained 40 and want to lose 30 lbs.  i'm having a hard time not binging.  my mind revolves around food all the time, even though i'm not restricting.  i'm never going to be used to this size.  don't feel bad because you really don't have it that bad.

unfortunately what's done is done.  you need to move on and focus on eating clean for a week.  people will tell you not to fast or restrict heavily the next day because it may lead to another binge.

you could also try adding bits on exercise for the next few days.  what did you binge on?

Weight Loss Starting to think its not about diet and excersize.... Dec 31 2008

hi lafoutloud, PCOS is polycystic overy syndrome which is an endocrine condition that will give you symptoms like irregular missing periods, weight gain/trouble losing weight, experience more hair on body and face, and a ovarian cyst(s).   i asked this of the op because from what she said about her period ended when started to put on the lbs i believe she should look into this.  i think you can get diagnosed from a hormonal blood test and ultrasound for the cysts.

and i can't believe the attitude of you doctor that hung up on you.  that was so rude and inappropriate, next time you see him you should tell him that.

i used to believe in that 10,000 steps a day but since then it's been hard.

i do wonder, does anyone know it 10,000 is enough for someone trying to lose weight?

idk...i think that since the woman the op is talking about isn't underweight, in fact, she's is a bit on the heavy side, i don't think she's doing any harm to herself.  she sounds like me.  if i eat too much i do hours of cardio too.  maybe it would be fine to let this one slip.

this year has been hell for me.  i rather have death than suffer the way i do now.  the consequences of my actions are stuck with me and i don't even want to think about the future, but i know that continuing the bad habits will only worsen.  i don't think anyone has had it as bad as i did, so don't feel too bad.

Weight Loss I just don't know what to do anymore - I have given up. Dec 24 2008
02:50 (UTC)

well, how long did you do it, maybe not long enough to see results.  you should always give it a month and try to take small steps instead of changing your habits drastically.  if you can, let yourself have a treat each day after dinner or something, that is, if you don't overdo it when you get a small taste of it.  i couldn't do this and would have to go cold turkey.

when you tune your eating habits, you can work on getting some physical activity.  i am really no different than you are right now and i know how you feel, extremely discouraged and hopeless, but i will die trying if i had too and i don't mean you should too but if you really want this, i think you can do it.

Weight Loss Do u diet but not exercise? Dec 20 2008

take it easy and start with your diet first.  with your stats you should have no problem losing weight with no exercise.  eat healthy and eat enough.

as for being skinny fat, you can lose up to 30 or so pounds with diet first and then start to do strength training to get your metabolism up and avoid the skinny fat.

hi, i used to use the other post about ending binge eating.  this is has been on for the longest though, so i think i will try to post here more often to keep myself on track away from binge eating.  like most people here i binge eat last night.  i find it hardest from dinner to night, so i guess i have to make myself go to bed earlier.

2009 is on its way and it literally scares the crap out of me when i think about the new year and my continuous binges.  i do not want to live like this anymore and looking for big changes, but good ones.

i haven't had mine for 3.5 years now.  it's even more unfair because i'm not underweight, in fact i'm overweight who used to be underweight but gained weight and still no period.  i would recommend you get your hormones checked witha gyno or endocrinologist to see whether it is really the weight that is causing your lack of menstruation.

Motivation Do you agree... Dec 15 2008

i think that weight should be according to one's height.  someone who's short like me will do fine with 100 pounds.  sure women are beautiful, but they think that they can even be more beautiful if they can have what they want.

it's the way we're socialized, the media, family, school.  i live near tinsletown, everyone's like a 10 here, and i don't mean in size.  that's why some females are trying to live up to that expectation.  i don't think there's anything wrong with it unless it takes over their lives or they become obsessed with it.

Original Post by pdubb13:

As for weights, you really need to concentrate on the major muscle groups, chest, back and legs.   do 3 sets of 12-15 reps at a weight heavy enough make you struggle on the 12-15th rep.  don't worry about getting "bulky".  Only a small percentage of moman actually have the genetics put put on a lot of muscle and you would know by now if you were one of them.  Typically a female will only put on about a pound of muscle a month untill your genetic potential stops you and thats with a perfect diet and perfect training.

to put muscle on a woman's body is good, but wouldn't she need to eat more.  she can't diet and expect to gain muscle mass, right?  which leads me to ask, when women are trying to lose weight while creating a deficit through their diet and are lifting weights, will this just tone?  does it help our metabolism still if no muscle is gained?

omg! do i know how you feel.

i've gained like 40 pounds.  i cry everytime i  think about it.  i cry even more when i see my clothes in the closet that are just sitting there.

my body has changed a lot too, not just the stomach size.  for every inch on my waist that has increased is a 5 lb gained on my body.  it sucks.

as for the gym problem, screw them and use the outdoors when you can.  or isn't there a nearby curves or something?  i can see how your facing such rude people.  that's one reason why i'm avoiding friends because they actually don't know that i'm like this right now and it sucks when i go back to school.  and that friend of yours is not your friend if she's like that.  just think how much you want to work to obtain your goal and that would be your best revenge.  at least you don 't have a binge eating problem, do you?

i'm not on either sides, but it does seems that jessica have very low expectations, and that's not a bad thing.  it's great that you can accept yourself the way you are while i'm actually the very person you're targeting who is petty because she desires to lose more to feel better about herself.  i'm in a situation where i feel extreme comtempt with the body i have right now and in any way give anything just to look the way i did 2 years ago, and yes, it's mostly based on disgust with myself.

i honestly don't think there is anything wrong with people who want to lose those vanity pounds.  so what if they can still walk and breathe if they gain 10, 30,  or 100 pounds, it doesn't make make it acceptable.  i guess people are more better off if they are underweight than overweight.  Even the whole "fat, but fit" thing bothers me, it doesn't matter.
