Aspartame is banned in Europe and I believe Japan as well because of the health risks associated with it.  The U.S. government isn't going to ban anything that's bad for us (as long as it isn't killing people) especially if it has the potential to make money.  Corporate America runs this country, not the politicians.  Statistics don't tell us anything either.  You can make statistics say anything you want.  A favorite quote of mine is, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

I don't know what's wrong with me, but I have been binging a lot lately.  It's not because I'm hungry, but mostly because I'm tired and bored.  My weight jumped up to 155 lbs, but I managed to get some control, and was able to get back down to 152 lbs.  This is really frustrating!  In the beginning it was so easy, and now I think I have lost my motivation.  I just need to stay focused, and I need to start running again.  I hope everyone is doing well!

I think utilizing an exercise ball is a great way to get good abs.  I do a few different exercises on mine, and I can feel my ab muscles working a lot harder than doing crunches and other stuff on the floor.

I've lost 3 lbs. since last week!  I have been working really hard for it though.  I upped my calories a bit and that's when my weight came off.   I started adding in some weights, and I definitely think that has helped.  That is all for now.  I hope everyone is doing well.  :)

The dancer changes directions.  I actually saw her go from clockwise to counter-clockwise.  It is pretty cool, but I wouldn't use it as "proof" that you are left or right brained.

It took a LOT of work to get back down to 153 again.  It was so weird.  I didn't understand how I gained those 2 lbs in the first place, and then it took me working out twice a day to get back down to 153 lbs.  Hopefully I will not gain anymore.  I think I'm going to stick to working out twice a day, 5 days a week.  Weights and strength training in the morning and then cardio at night.  Three pounds to go until my Halloween goal! :D

Weight Loss Healthy cereal? Oct 05 2007

I'm another advocate for Nature's Path organic cereals.  They are all really good and really filling.  I have to buy mine at Trader Joe's or at a Whole Foods type grocery store.  I like the Hemp Plus Granola and Optimum Rebound that they make.  They also make kids cereals which are gluten and sodium free and very tasty.

My runner up is Kashi Go-Lean Crunch which is very filling and has tons of fiber in it.  This might be a good choice if you don't have a health food grocery store nearby. I think pretty much all grocery store chains carry it.

Wow, body shapes must really make a difference as far as sizing goes.  I have similar stats to a couple of you, but wear a bigger size.

I'm 5'7 154 lbs. and I wear a size 12 in pants, and size L-XL in tops (thanks to my large boobs).  My 12s are loose in the leg but are still fitting comfortable in the stomach.  It must be because of my mama tummy.  I figured I'd be in 10s by now, but I think I will have to wait for another 5-6 lbs before I could fit into them.  I still can't believe that another girl with almost my same exact stats is wearing a size 8, while I'm still stuck in 12s.  Depressing.

You guys I have been so horrible with this!  I don't know if I need to re-start this whole program or continue where I left off, but I do really need to stick with it.  I was having mosquito problems before, and then it started to cool down and then I got sick, UGH!!  Tonight I'm going to start at week 1 and see how I do.  Wish me luck!

Weight Loss Noticing stretch marks for the first time... Oct 03 2007
03:58 (UTC)

I think it is a combination of both as well.  You can get them when you get growth spurts, and you get them when you gain weight.  For me, I found now that I'm losing weight, that it seems like all these old faded stretch marks are popping up all over the place.  I guess I had them under fat rolls and they were covering them up?  I don't know.  Stretch marks do suck.  I have them on my hips, butt, breasts, stomach, thighs and calves.  I'm hoping that some sort of "cure" for stretch marks comes out soon.
Weight Loss busted into the 140's! Oct 01 2007

Wow, way to go Cati!!  What a great accomplishment!!  I'm sure you are very proud of yourself!

Don't worry about the boobies.  Just go to Victoria's Secret and  get yourself a nice push-up bra.  You deserve it!  I understand about going down bra sizes.  I started at a 40DD and now I am a 36DD.  I do not like my boobs anymore.  Like you said, mine are just deflated and not so cute.  I think that's from being a mama and breastfeeding though.

You are so close to your goal!  I have a few more lbs. before I can join you in the 140's, so hopefully I will get there soon!  Congrats on your success!

The Lounge Stupid Things People Do At The Gym... Sep 30 2007

These are all really funny.  I agree with some of these, but I have to agree with some of the others about being naked in a locker room.  Isn't that to be expected?  And does it really matter if someone wants to walk around naked?  Just don't look!!  Also, I just can't see how someone reading a book/magazine/newspaper can be annoying, but maybe that's just me.  Also, I'm not one for judging people for actually going to the gym do something, even if it is slow and/or for a short period of time.  There are, however, people who are rude and inconsiderate or just plain peculiar that make themselves stand out, and I think this is the target for this thread.

Now, for my gym experience.  I no longer go to a gym, but this gym was just ridiculous.  Every girl was a "Workout Barbie" who were afraid to break a sweat, and were mainly there for social purposes.  The guys all looked like they were roiding, and were also ther for social purposes.  But there was one guy in particular who uhh stood out from the crowd.  It was hard not to notice him because he was constantly taking pictures of himself.  LOL  People were complaining because the flashing from his camera was so distracting, and finally the gym personnel had to tell him to stop.  He became known around the gym as the "Picture Nazi" or "P-Nazi" for short.  This guy was just a fascinating creature.  What with his bleached blonde "emo" hair, his obviously roided ripped body, and he always wore really spandexy type shorts.  He would do a few sets, and then with the sweat glistening off his skin, he would flex and take a picture of himself in the gym mirror.  Haha it was actually quite comical.  I wonder how ol' P-Nazi is these days...

I don't think it's a very big age gap at all.  I used to date guys 5 years older than me because I felt like I was more on the same maturity level  with them than I was with guys that were my own age.  If he is a nice guy and you are interested in him, give it a shot, because you never know.  Love has no age limit or requirements.  :)

I have no idea how I gained 2 lbs. this week, because I have stayed at or below my calorie goal.  I have been feeling bloated, but I have no clue why.  My sodium intake has been fine and TTOM has already come and gone.  I'm going to try upping my water and see if that helps me.  I'm so pissed because I was so close to my goal. :/  Oh well.

Weight Loss How Often do your weight yourself and record it Sep 28 2007
22:09 (UTC)

I weigh myself every morning when I first wake up.  I'm getting a little obsessive with it though.  Sometimes I will weigh myself throughout the day, but I know that those weights aren't accurate, so I don't take them to heart.  As far as logging my weight on CC, I only log it when my weight has gone down.  If I gain a pound or two, I just don't log it that day.  I know it's cheating, but it feels more encouraging to see the graph going down and not jumping all over the place.  Also, I rarely have cheat days or gain, so when I gain weight it's usually from water retention from eating over my sodium intake limit.  *shrugs* So that's that :)
