| Wow. Carmenxox... I thought that was a pretty rude post. "Pro-Ana"??? She didn't mention anything about starving herself, wanting to be thinner or harmful behaviors. I think accusing her of posting an pro-ED topic was not very nice. She didn't mean to make you mad or perhaps trigger you.
I agree with Mcderin. Being that young, it is no time to obsess over weight and calories. maybe just work on toning, etc.. Also, as long as you are eating healthy, and it is a weight approved by your Doc, it should be fine. She is still young, and perhaps has a very small frame. I have a younger sister and a niece with basically her same stats (weird right? I have lots of siblings! haha), and they are both completely healthy. Both eat quite a bit and are very active, but remain under 100lbs. Everybody is built different. (Here is Korea, most every woman is around 100lbs! and healthy.) To the original poster... not to delve into depper topics and away from the original question... but, I know that must be really frusterating with your Mom. Mine was the same way when I was your age. Have you tried talking to her? Maybe you two could come to the agreement of smaller portioned healthy dinners, and could spread your food intake out a bit through out the day. Also, I do agree that eating a bit more, could probably benefit you as you are still growing. Just try to add in a few healthy snacks during the day if you can. Hope you have a great day. Talk to you later. |

| Weight Loss | breastfeeding...calories? | Sep 13 2007 04:46 (UTC) |

| I believe my Doc told me to keep my calories at 1800 minimum when I was breastfeeding. As others said, and I'm sure you know, it does take a lot of calories for your body to produce milk and keep up a good supply. I think I would focus more on working out, and eating healthy foods...
Also, since you said you are only breastfeeding partime, and your supply has dropped a bit... If it is an option, you could try pumping a few times a day. That would help a lot. (you can pick up the small, handheld Medela pump -they are pretty cheap and work great!) I also found that Mothers Milk Tea, and fenugreek were awesome for helping increase my supply.. (you should be able to buy both of those at your local GNC or healthfood store) Anyhoo. Just eat healthy (and enough cals!), and enjoy nursing your baby! Best of luck to you! |

| Hey Girl,
I had a hard time losing the last 10-15lbs when I was breastfeeding too. Don't quote me exactly on this, but I think my Doc recommended an intake of about 1800 to keep up a good supply. I don't know. Might want to run it by your Doc, just to get his/her opinion. Listen to your body too though, it's working super hard to produce that milk, so if you're hungry just eat something thats good for you and don't stress about it. I think your idea of adding 200 (maybe even 300) would probably put you in a healthy range though! Just try it and see I guess. If you feel like your supply starts to decrease abit just add some more calories and see if it helps. Good luck! |

| Hi girl!
Just wanted to say that you're not alone. I'm in the same boat as you! I agree with the previous poster... don't let a few pounds ruin your vacation. I know it's easier said than done, but just try to have a great time with your hubby ok! Just continue to stay active, and eat healthy. With time, it'll happen. |

| OK, well. I just wanted to chime in and say the physical aspect of pregnancy isn't that bad. I agree that being in better shape before you get pregnant, and staying active throughout should make a huge difference. I am 5'2, small frame, and was 122 lbs when i got pregnant. I gained about 40 lbs, putting me at 165. (haha, I had some crazy cravings that took over!) Anyhow, my daughter is now 4 1/2 months old, and I am down to 115lbs. As for boobs changing...I have no idea. I did breastfeed for 3 months, but, um, mine are fake so...I can't tell! As for stretch marks. I guess it all depends. I got a few, but know many women who don't have any.
I think it's totally normal for it to freak you out! That's good, just lets you know what you want right now. I think that enchantingimage made some good points in her posts, that nobody is every fully ready, and it will always be scary. Anyhow, I have no good advice, ...but had to put my thoughts about how it affected my body!. Interesting thread though! Lots of fun responses! |

| Huh. I actually had this happen to me this month too. After the first cycle, it stopped for about a week, and started up again. Strange. I hope it goes away...no fun. ANyhow, our workouts and calorie intake sound pretty similar, so perhaps it is just because of a change in lifestyle/activity level. Who knows. If I keep having irregularities I'll probably ask my Doc about it. SO, I'm really of no help, but your not alone! | |||

| Geez. I think it's awesome that it seems to be working that well for you! Lucky girl! I got a few pretty bad ones when I was pregnant...I was in great shape, used lotion twice a day, and got them when I was at 8 months. Darnit. I made it so far....grrr!! (maybe it's because I'm petite, and my kid was big? and I gained 45 pounds...yikes, I know) Anyhow, I've tried every cream out there. From talking to my Doc, and all of the reading I have done about them... It's my understanding that they are obviously a scar, and will never go away, but might fade with time. Bummer. I need to invent something to prevent or get rid of them! I'd be a zillionaire! haha. | |||

| Hi there,
Well, I'm really of no help either... I don't know anything about missed periods... I did want to say though, it's really great that you are starting to eat healthier, and work out. I think that being healthier would probably help your chances of trying to get pregnant. Anyhow. I frequently visit a parenting/baby site. They have a really good "preconception" forum you might want to check out. Probably have other women in similar situatuons that you could talk to. It's babyfit.com . I also second what cailea said... I would be looking for a different Doctor. Get a second opinion and try to get some answers! Best of luck! |

| Hey Girl,
Don't quote me exactly on this, but when I was breastfeeding I believe it was suggested to me that I eat a minimum 1800 to keep my supply up. I'm sure it varies a bit with every one though. Might wanna look it up... I know proper calorie intake is essential for the body to produce milk...so yeah, it's important! but you already knew that! hehe. Best of luck! Ande |

| Ejoy,
Hey Thanks for the compliments...and congrats to you too on your new addition!!! Fun isn't it? hehe. Anyhow, as for 'what I am doing'... To be honest...the main reason I went to the clinic n the first place was cause I wan'ted to take an "easier" route and get meso therapy (google it if you've never heard of it), it's pretty rad, and a few of my girlfriends, and MANY korean women get it done here... unfortunatley, after going there and asking about it...turns out I am allergic to one of the ingredients...so I couldn't get it. Damnit. ( I was seriously bummed about it actually), but anyways, after that...I was pissed off (which kinda made me more determined I guess!!) and I just decided to take it into my own hands and fix my problems. I go in to the clinic about every 10 days. I get weighed, go over food logs, get suggestions from the Doc..., which is great. To be held accountable, get advice, talk about food/calories/health, etc. its just what I needed I think. .. . Other than that, I've been eating about 1200-1300 'net' calories (of healthy food) a day , and have ramped up my exercise to a good 30-40 min workout (and light weights) five days a week. With that, I have been steadily losing about 2lbs a week. Which I am completely happy with! Anyhow, just had to let you know!!! Good luck... see you around the boards I'm sure! -Ande |
