| My motivational (I hope) speech.
Each moment I will make a healthy choice irregardless of the choices that I have made in the past or will make in the future. If I crave something I will have a serving size portion of that item...whether it is a piece of cake or a stalk of celery. I will focus more on what I should eat than on what I shouldn't eat. I will continue to go to holiday events, out to restaurants, and parties. I will choose the best choices available and stick to "a portion" size of that choice. I will not give up anything that I love; chocolate, bread, muffins, or a margarita. I will learn to eat these items less often and in smaller portions. I will focus on what I like, not what the world is telling me to like. I will rejoice each pound I lose and I will not beat myself up for how long it takes me to lose it. I will not sweat the small ups and downs of the scale but I will never let it go back up to where it was. I will visit CC and I will be healthier. |

| I rewrote the post from Jeff. Not sure if it is better but thought I would do it as an exercise to really earn my points.
Jeff's motivational post Have you ever thought about why we take better care of our cars than ourselves? We put top grade, expensive fuel to make sure that we can get back and forth to work, errands, and fun events. We never add anything to the gas tank that would make our cars sluggish. We check our oil, transmission fluids, and water to make sure that everything is working properly. We take it to the mechanic for regular maintenance and if something is wrong we immediately take it in to get it fixed. Is that true about our own bodies? Do we put in the best fuel everyday to make sure that we can get back and forth to work, errands, and fun events? Do we add things to our gas tanks that would make us sluggish? Do we get regular check ups before something goes wrong or take care of things immediately when they do? We can?t go and trade ourselves in for a new model?but we can take care of our bodies like we do our cars and get ourselves up and running like a new model. So take your feet off the brakes and soon you will be flying down the road with the wind blowing in your hair and the sun shining on your face as you accelerate the gas pedal of life? It is up to you. Start your engines. |

| It's amazing that they get the size right for men...a size 36/32 pants is a size 36/32 everywhere. A size 12 pant for women can be anywhere from a 8 to 16. It is nuts.... | |||

| Motivational Post When all is said and done....it is about loving yourself. Whether you are 80 pounds or 380 pounds. You have to be able to look yourself in the mirror and say, I Love You. I deserve the time and effort it takes to live a healthy life. I am not going to wait until I meet the criteria of an unhealthy culture of what beauty is to love myself, I am going to love myself today. Because I know that I deserve no less than that. |

| Leslie, You need to use the tools in this site and get the right calorie amount for your size. You are eating too little....yes you read that right you are eating to little.
It takes at least 1200 calories a day to keep your organs working and your blood pumping. If your body does not get that it could go into what is known as starvation mode which is an instinctual response to eating to little where the body holds on to the fat to make sure it can react in an emergency. Eating to little is a common mistake and one that leads many of us to dropping out of diets. This is hard to believe but true.....the tools on this site are awesome use them. |

| My work was the same. Cookies, doughnuts, cakes, etc. I have spent the last months educating, (gently) I mutter things like Bagels have 300 calories maybe I will just eat a third of one. People usually are astounded at the calories in things. another one is muffins at 600 calories a pop.
I started bringing in a whole watermelon and cutting it up....it went faster than the junk. Another time I brought in plouts (plums/apricot mix) Everybody wanted to try it because it was new. I leave articles around. I started a bulletin board and posted healthful information. There is definitely a change in the office meeting, lunches, parties, we always have healthy choices and the best thing is that I am no longer the only one bringing the good stuff. |

| Look around at other large women. Find something that you like the look of. Something sexy. I always admire the way the larger black women that I work with carry off being sexy. They inspired me to buy a sexy blouse, something that showed off my breast. Nothing to wild just a little sexy. I find Rayon is a lovely sexy textile. try on at least 10 tops until you find one that you know works. Wear it with you jeans. Wear it out to dinner with friends. Wear it with style. Large women are sexy....take a look around you. You will see that they have style and class too. | |||

| hey all, loved your tips on eating out...I always ask for a container with my meal and cut the meal in half. this allows me to order what I want (well almost). Somehow having it packed up makes it easier to say no to. I have also thrown it away if it calls to me to strongly. Yep I throw good food away. I close my ears to my mother's voice telling me about starving children in china and I throw it away. what is the difference between the garbage and my belly.....a few pounds on my body. the choice is easy. | |||

| Silly ways to be active
I dance when I brush my teeth. when I bend to pick something up I do it like I am doing toe touches and do it 4x more. I jog in front of the tv set or do the twist or an old dance routine. Kugles in the car. (squeezing your vagina). This is an extremely important exercise....builds your inner core. Not sure if there is an alternative for men. I roll my stomach at my desk...Like in belly dancing. Wall push ups |

| well unfortunately my body still accepts the junk. I ate mcdonalds and popeyes yesterday and my body feels just fine...I wish it would punish me. I have to do that myself with my brain I guess. (the good thing is i only ate a cheesburger at mcdonalds and fried chicken at popeyes, no fries.) | |||

| First you have to convince yourself that you are as important as your baby. You were able to eat healthy when pregnant and you can eat healthy when you are just eating for yourself. You might need help with this concept...seek a good therapist and stay here on cc and get your support.
Never eat less than 1200 calories a day. This is what it takes to keep your organs running and blood flowing. Anything less than that and the weight you lose comes from parts of the body that you need, not fat. If you eat healthy food, fruit, vegtables, whole grains, and protein and eat your alloted calories you will lose. (slowly but you will lose, I promise). Use the tools here on cc and calculate what cc thinks you should eat. Try it for one month. Join the boards, get some friends and join us for a healthy way to live....not a diet. welcome |

| Weight Loss | O nooo...what's happened?! | Sep 05 2006 02:54 (UTC) |
|
| Weight is a zen thing you have to go with the flow. It goes up and down but hopefully it is two pound down one pound up. Remember to use the tools on the site and follow the calorie count. Take your measurements especially if you are exercising. Often you will lose inches before pounds (muscle weighs more than fat.) Weigh yourself in the morning. Often you can weigh a few more pounds in the evening than in the morning. focus on being healthy and try not to obsess about the fluctuations.
good luck |
