The Lounge how to break up a live-in bf and get out with all your stuff --- ADVICE Sep 24 2008

Perhaps it's from being "friends" with you and reading your journal entries but I think all the people above me (for the most part) are straight up wrong. She's a mature, rational person people! This isn't high school where she wants out because he didn't call her every 5 minutes to ask how she was. jeez.

You don't like him playing. Why? Cause he's a grown man that would rather play video games then go on social outings with you, or stay in a watch a movie with you, or hell, do ANYTHING with you.

You don't have to change a damn thing. And you've told him it bothers you and you've begged him to spend time with you. He hasn't. No person should ever have to beg for affection from someone else. Get out and enjoy life.

Don't listen to the people telling you it's just a game and that you should try it. Perhaps he should try not being a male private part (because there is a lot more to his private part-ness than just the video games).

/end rant.

From a legal aspect, splitting the house should probably be handled the same way as a divorce. However, I don't know if you really want to blindside him saying you've talked to a lawyer already and blah blah blah. Maybe during the talk tell him what you want to happen with the house (i.e. you stay, he goes or whatever) and say that you wouldn't be offended if he wanted to talk to lawyer to make sure no one's getting shortsided and that we do things correctly.

/love.

I'm a dog person at heart and sometimes even forget that I had cats at one point.

Cat names (all girls)- sneakers, tinkerbell, taffy and autumn.

dog names we've used (all girls)- daisy, shayna, up (long story short- she was a rescued greyhound and U.P.and a bunch of numbers was her racing code. She answered to Up so it stuck). We also have sammy and kaydee.

Our one male dog is charlie.

My story is a weird one that totally had to do with the right place and right time...

Basically, I friended my boyfriend on facebook in August '05 before going to college. He had the same major as me and was sooo cute that I actually called my sister into the room to look at him. She pointed out that he has a girlfriend, but I said that since she's going to another school it won't last long. I told her to mark my words, I will date him. Months went by and we never actually met in person and because of this he deleted me from his friends list.

Skip to later that year in Feb. 06. My friend wakes up on Friday morning and tells me that she had the strangest dream. She dreamt that she married this guy and that they went on a honeymoon but the plane crashed and keanu reeves saved them. We all laughed and asked who she married. She said she didn't know him but he looked semi-familiar.

Later that night we walked into a frat party and she nearly fainted. She started shouting "He's here! He's here!" The guy from her dream was at the party but I didn't get a good look. I told her not to say anything cause that's just creepy but a few beers later and waiting in the bathroom line I hear "You're not gonna believe this but..." I turn around to stop her and WHO IS IT BUT THE GUY I SWORE I WOULD DATE. Basically, I saved my friend from embarrassment and my soon-to-be boyfriend and I talked the rest of the night. He remembered my name and at the end of the night I didn't give him my number for some dumb reason so he friended me on facebook again and IMed me.

We talked every day over springbreak and have been together since march 06 and currently live together. We're planning on marriage, he just needs to propose!

79 I'm an IMDb master, but when all you know about the show is what I already stated, it doesn't really help. What I said above is literally everything I know. I remember the girl and the man on the moon, that's it. EDIT: I went alittle bold happy. Apologies.

VegetarianGeek...Could it be possible that she had two kids, a son and daughter, and the guy had at least a daughter. She came to work for him as a housekeeper or something?

Also, the daughter used to sit on her window seat and talk to the man on the moon.

If someone could tell me the name of this show I would be forever grateful. I only remember those bits and pieces and no one else knows what I'm even talking about. I've been trying to figure it out for awhile now actually.

good god... Nick and Nick Jr used to be sooo good. WHO REMEMBERS WHEN COOKIE MONSTER ACTUALLY LIKED COOKIES??

Whoever mentioned Zoobilee Zoo, you just earned 5 gold stars! that show was oh so amazing, I used to have the stuffed animals. And as for Get Smart, it is still one of my favorite shows even though most of my friends have no idea what it even is.

I admit it, I was a total Nick kid. AHHH!! Real Monsters, anyone!? I think that's one of the only cartoons besides CARE BEARS (Cheer Bear ftw) that I could actually stand. I was never that into cartoons, but loved all the live action stuff.

EDIT: I love bugs bunny, only cartoon I'd watch on Saturday Mornings.

oh you three are so smart! haha it makes total sense, I just never did it that way. I would always measure before cooking, combine all ingredients while cooking and eat. So I would look at the calories and say "hm, well they are raw now but they will be cooked...." I never saw it as taking measurements at different times.

What about eggs though? 1 large egg is still one large egg...isn't it?
Recipes Healthy lasagna recipe but calorie count is coming out wrong! Jul 16 2008

I've never tried cottage cheese in lasagna so perhaps I'm wrong but does not sound appetizing. Honestly, with everything that goes into lasagna it's going to be hard to truly make it low cal with it still resembling lasagna.

I think the part-skim cheeses taste fine and my boyfriend (who grew up with everything being whole fat and soaked in real butter) likes them too. Try the part-skim cheeses and extra lean meat, it should come down in calories. Also make it in a smaller pan so you only use a portion of what you were before.

When I made lasagna with ricotta, mozzerella, beef and sauce it came out to like 350 a serving. Which is still not great but it's a lot better than 600. You just have to pick your ingredients well.

Yeah, I'm with laschndr. You can get gas but can't drive the van that the gas needs to go in? That's an absolute scam.

Some people on here are really trusting, but me...everyone is scamming you. Pittsburgh is so bad with panhandlers, it's ridiculous. They will follow behind you if you say no, they will shout if you ignore them, ONE TRIED TO TRIP ME WITH HIS CANE!

One time a man (not looking really dirty or anything) approached me at a bus stop. He was polite and said "excuse me, miss. I live in a halfway house downtown. I need to make it back by curfew but don't have enough for bus fare. I promise I'm not trying to rip you off, I just want to get home." Honestly, I told him no. I listened very closely but I'm also not dumb. First, I don't care who you are, I'm not pulling my wallet out on a city street corner and letting you see how much I have in there. Second, if you knew you had to get home why would you spend your fare money? Third, the buses going downtown are on a completely different street, so what are you doing over here? I told him I didn't have any cash and that I was sorry.
The Lounge What is "Your" song with your significant other? Jul 14 2008

Make a Memory is actually kind of a sad song...It's about losing the spark in the relationship and hints at infidelity but "he" wants to forget that and go back to the way things used to be.

I absolutely love Bon Jovi but there are very few songs that are strict love songs and not "I/we messed up but I swear I'll do better" type songs. If you want a true BJ love song try You Had Me From Hello.

As for me, My boyfriend and I have always thought of Staplegunned by The Spill Canvas as our song since the very beginning. It fits us to a T. For our wedding song, I strongly favor I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie but I don't know if I could do that. It's a little too "scene" lol.

I know the ads you're talking about but there is still nothing you can do about it.

It's not facebook, it's the advertisers. Facebook is a business, first and foremost, so as long as they pay and it's not obscene the advertisers will continue to do what they want.

exactly.

I understand you're upset, jen. But making inflammatory remarks about an online community that was originally intended college students, isn't the way to go. Perhaps your daughter's just too young to have one.

not to further the argument, but I'm with Ness. She straight-up said that her religion doesn't think it's right, but even if she's not Christian she should read the bible....how is that better than not being pagan/naturalist/whatever and trying out spiritual awakenings?

I stick to what I originally said, let your alternate path (whichever it may be) be a supplement, not substitution. Oh, and do get a second opinion. It couldn't hurt.

yeah, good luck. Facebook isn't promoting anything, people buy advertising space and can do with it what they want. I'm 21 and get the same ads, I seriously don't think they're just targeting young teens.

The Lounge question for married couples Jul 08 2008

I didn't read through all the posts, but most of the first page says to get a joint account....DON'T. I'm not saying that you shouldn't trust him or blah blah blah but if you're not married it just seems like not such a good idea. I mean you're having trouble figuring out one bill, do you really need to complicate it by adding an account and figuring out when and how much to put in each account?

My boyfriend and I have lived together for a year now. He has a credit card that gives him perks the more he spends so when we go shopping, the bill goes on his card and we save the receipts and at the end of the month I pay him my half. We do this with all our bills...he writes checks and makes a receipt of it, I keep track of them and we go to the bank once a month to transfer what I owe him.

I'm not sure what you're having trouble with? You said you tried this and it didn't work?

I believe in some of the things you're talking about and I'm pretty skeptical about others. I agree with anndjoe though; you are obviously stressed out and anxious (who wouldn't be?) and I suspect that the reason you're sleeping better now is that you are spiritually "healed." And spiritually doesn't have to mean anything deeper than just that this healer has lifted your spirits, as we all like to say a lot.

I think you need to be careful when searching for answers to your condition. I'm not suggesting that these people are taking advantage, just that in cases like this a lot of times the "treatment" works because we want it to. If you believe in something so much or rely on it too much then we often trick ourselves into believing it's doing something so that we're not just wasting our time. Like I said earlier, it could be that your stress and anxiety are making things worse and that if you lower them, the medical treatments from your doctor will be more effective and thus you could be cured. Please don't mistake that for your alternative ways curing you. Think of them as a supplement to medical practice, not a substitute.

I do hope you find relief!
The Lounge Police didn't do their job. What can we do? Jul 07 2008

My best suggestion is to call the actual police station, not 911, and ask to talk to the Chief. They probably won't connect you and will instead ask for your information, the reason for the call and tell you that he or she will contact you. Tell them where to reach you and that you'd like to speak with him about some of his department's misconduct in the (insert your mom's last name) case.

If they don't call back that day, call the next. And the next. Sometime multiple times in one day. Trust me, you will get on his nerves so much he'll call you back, or you go down there and sit and wait for him to see you.

Emails are nice, but you don't know who is actually reading them and if they will ever get to where you want them to go. So, if you're going to email, also call alot. Saving the emails will also give you written proof of your contacting them.

When I was training my dog I found that if I just said something over and over again and gave her the treat when she finally did it that she got the point. Now she was already really well behaved when we got her, but I taught her to lie down, stay, and give me a high five with both front paws.

I would just repeat, "lie down" until she did. Then she got a treat and the next time I tried it would be easier. She gets it now. She also sits and waits for you to tell her she can go outside, even if the door is wide open.

It's all about repetition.

CORRELATION DOES NOT EQUAL CAUSATION.

this means that just because there seems to be a relationship between the two doesn't mean one caused the other.

all people go through tough things in life, not all people have food issues just like not all people who were raped or molested become promiscuous.
