Motivation My son's father is the only one who will keep it real! Oct 16 2007

I think you have to start slowly. Start by changing your eating habits first, then move onto exercising. I had the same problem. I got pregnant and gained almost 100 pounds!!! I was 210 when I gave birth to my daughter and almost a year after she was born I was at 185. I finally decided I needed to do something so I changed what I ate. I didn't eat fast food, I cut down on snacks and sodas. In fact, I eliminated all snacks and only drank diet soda. What I liked were the lean cuisines, they are only between like 200 and I think the most calories I had was maybe 400 in one. So, for breakfast I would eat some fruits or something and maybe a little bit of yogurt. Have a lean cuisine for lunch and a salad and soup for dinner. If I went out, I immediately asked them to half my order and only bring out half of whatever I ordered, then I saved other half for dinner or lunch the next day. My usual rule is, whatever is normally being served, only eat half or one third of it. Drink plenty of water or low cal fluids so you will feel full. Then I guarentee just on diet alone you will shed pounds. I lost 20 pounds by changing my diet alone, I lost another 30 by joining the gym. At first it was hard and I had to force myself to go. Now I LOVE the gym. Its like another addiction. But instead of food its working out and it shows. I'd start off going maybe a few times a week, then buildup to a full fledged "gymmie". Anyway, it just takes time. It took me about one year to lose a little over 50 pounds. But I feel great. I know its hard to say who cares what other people think when you go to the gym and what not, but you just have to go and not worry about all the other people who are there.

I really believe in the adage "everything in moderation". We may be watching what we eat but we need to indulge ourselves once in a while. I do not like thinking that we should not go out with our friends, just because they like to eat. Instead of eating 5 cookies. Eat one. If you decide to go out, then just get something small. I LOVE to eat, but I only eat very small portions and it seems to be working. Even when it comes to dessert. I think it is also good, to always half or quarter a normal size before you even touch it, that way, you don't eat as much and to  make things even better. Pawn it off to someone with better metabolism. I always pawn stuff off onto my boyfriend and he gets full and I get to indulge just a little bit. I say enjoy food to the fullest, but don't indulge to  make you full. Does that make sense?
Health & Support Stopped starving myself, will my metabolism recover? Aug 09 2007
20:40 (UTC)
Your body needs time to adjust to actually consuming a healthy number of calories. Once your body realizes that it will not be in starvation mode, which usually takes about two weeks. You can then work on incorporating diet and exercise together to safely lose weight. Also by exercising you will increase your metabolism.

Honestly, I can say from experience that going to a chiropractor really helped me. My headaches and pain went away within the first two months of chiropractic and I never looked back. I've been going for almost two years now and love it. When I don't go, I feel like crap. But once I get my adjustment I am like a new person. I think it is totally worth it.

thank you for your support. currently i am taking two types of steroids in combination with plaqunil and synthroid. and asprin as a blood thinner.

i am at that weird point where they don't want to bombard me with heavier drugs because they don't know what will happen. it's almost as if i am some type of medical mystery at times. i was just wondering if anyone had the same experience.

But thanks for your hugs. :) Much appreciated.
Health & Support can drinking 2 bottles of diet pepsi max cause shaking?? Aug 04 2007

Caffeine is a stimulant and if your body isn't used to it it may cause the shakes. Drink some water and lie down or sit for a while. It should go away.

I am only 25 and over the past two years have dealt with HUGE hair loss. I usually wear a hat and have gone to a dermotoglist and everything. They have also checked my thyroid and said it was normal. The only thing I have for you is support. I know how you are feeling and hopefully we can figure out a way to fight back.

Many people have told me that hair goes through cycles and I have been patiently waiting for the "growth" cycle to come through for me. I too went from eating meat to vegetarian and around the same time had my first child. So, that could play a role. I've slowly added protein, chicken and fish into my diet again to see if I was lacking in some vitamins; so I will keep you posted and see if that was it.

So I say to you, i feel your pain...or your lack of hair. I am hoping that one day soon, we can figure out exactly what is going on with us. (it may be hormonal) Good luck with your hair.
