Honestly, there is no point in even asking if you have such a negative view of vegEtables. You could always try to fix or add them to some sort of food that you do like, and try to gradually add them into your daily diet. |

| Thebledx3, you probably didn't plan your vegetarian diet properly, and because of it had a protein deficiency. I had the same symptoms that you had when I was anorexic, and when I started including more vegetarian protein into my diet I began to look and feel a lot better. I hope Thebledx3's experience doesn't discourage anybody else from transitioning to a vegetarian diet. |

| Young Calorie Counters | doesnt it annoy you when naturally thin people call themselves fat? | Mar 28 2008 07:03 (UTC) |
42 |
| Although it may be irritating for you, some thin girls really do think they are fat. We all know how it feels to be out of control of our eating, and we know how it feels to be bloated or carrying a couple extra pounds. I think most "thin" girls are referring to this weight when they complain about being fat.
Also, even some thin girls have body types that store fat in unsightly places. So, although they weigh less, they just might not like how their weight is distributed on their body. |

| I eat fake meats very rarely, I usually get a headache after eating them though, so I try to stay away. I don't care too much for tofu, and my mother hates it so that doesn't work. I eat beans, but I can't imagine eating them on a daily basis, nor can I imagine eating enough to get sufficient protein.
I do eat peanut butter and hummus nearly daily, however they don't have nearly enough protein. |

| I don't plan to eat a lot of seafood at all, just as little as possible, once a day for protein. Thanks for the fish suggestions also, I was thinking about salmon before you even mentioned it. I live in the middle of a vast array of farms, so no fisherman or fresh fish here, only the fish that come from a grocery store. I have an extremely low tolerance for fish that smell bad, so I think I am okay as far as that goes. |

| Haha, I have the same problem as you.
An exercise I have been recently doing seems to be working a bit for me. I lay on my side, holding my head up with my hand. Then I fold my top leg over to the front of my bottom leg's thigh. After that I repetively raise and lower the bottom leg. I do this about 50 times. I hope that this makes some sort of sense, if not I can try to find a diagram or something for you, good luck! |

| Weight Loss | BMR and eating disorders | Jan 26 2008 01:31 (UTC) |

| I used to have disordered eating for around two years, my calories ranging from 400-1000, and I can easily eat 1700 calories without gaining weight.
I don't think your BMR has lowered much because the disorder only lasted a year, it just may take some time for your metabolism to start working properly again, you just have to be patient... By the way, how old are you? If you are in your teens you need at least 1500 calories to help aid in growth. |

I got my first boyfriend in like the fourth grade. It wasn't a real relationship, but he is one of my best friends now. |

| Jason, I may be wrong, but I don't think that method is correct.
If it was, I would have to eat less than the bare minimum of 1200 to lose weight. Also, if doesn't take into account the fact the the OP is only 14 and still growing. To the OP. There are links to Teenage Nutrition Calculators scattered throughout posts similar to this one. Finding a few of those could be helpful to answer your question. |

| Foods | Feel Sick after Eating an Apple? | Dec 06 2007 05:43 (UTC) |
12 |
| The same thing happened to me last week, (I eat apples daily), like to the point where I couldn't walk. I think it was because my mom accidentally bought York apples instead of Fuji (which are just fine with my stomach). Perhaps you should try another kind of apple, and see if you experience the same things and if the symptoms go away, try and fall in love with a new kind of apple. Edit: Fiji = Country. Fuji = Apple. Got it. |

| Vegetarian | Why? And Hello! | Dec 05 2007 15:46 (UTC) |

If we were all vegetarian, we would still be at the top of the food chain.
That might be the stupidest reason I have ever heard of why you shouldn't go vegetarian. Sorry if I sound rude, but wow. As for the original post, I became a vegetarian because of the extreme cruelty that has been shown of animals in factory farms and things like that. Also, the thought of eating rotting flesh isn't very appetizing imo. |

| Enriched cereals can have around 50% of your iron in one serving. You can also get cereals that have protein in them, such as Special K Protein Plus. Also, Luna Bars can help cut any sugar cravings while still supplying you with vitamins and minerals. Some La Tortilla Factory tortillas have protein, I bought some yesterday that are 50 calories each with 5 grams of protein and around 8g of fiber. The last thing I can think of off of the top of my head would be eggwhites, or eggbeaters (Assuming that you eat eggs). I hope that helped =]. |

| I don't think you necessarily need to gain any weight, just make sure you are getting enough fat into your diet.
I am a vegetarian so I have a very hard time getting fat into my diet, so sometimes I don't get my period. However, my friend, who is much skinnier than I am doesn't eat much, but when she does she eats high fat mostly fast food while not even reaching 1000 calories most of the time and she still has a regular period (I am trying to get her to change, but she won't.). I hope that wasn't too confusing. |

| Foods | Granola bars -- waste of calories? | Nov 26 2007 14:33 (UTC) |

| Have you tried Luna or Clif bars?
While they are relatively high in sugar and calories (not any higher than Nature Valley granola bars though), they have lots of vitamins and minerals. They aren't exactly granola bars, but they might be able to help satisy your craving. |

I doubt that being a vegetarian makes you gassy and bloated.
However, you may have added something into your vegetarian diet that is causing it. I would suggest cutting out a certain thing one day and see if the bloating/gas goes away, if not try cutting out another thing. |

I love Luna Bars if you want some sort of snack during the school day or something. They are pretty cheap too, on sale for 10 for $10 at my grocery store currently. Might not be the same for you though. Also, there is a website (www.wesaveyoulots.com) which sells nutrition bars extremely cheap. I must state that they are past their sell by date, but somebody on CC wrote to the Luna website and they said that the bars will be fine. Hope this helps. |

Also, baby carrots with barbecue sauce and baby carrots with spicy bean dip. That's about all I can think of. |
