I dont have any children, but I've babysat young babies  with ear infections& I've have hundreds of ear infections throughout my life.  That being said, try using a hair dryer on the warm setting & blow it in his ear.  In my experience, 9 times out of 10, it will at least take the edge off for him.  I hope it helps.  I know first hand how painful it is.

When my husband & I were on our honeymoon, we went to a Pizza Hut that had a lunch buffet.  We had no waitress, there was only a hostess who took us to our table.  We got our own plates off the buffet & we got fountain drinks.  We left no tip, as we served ourselves.  Just about the time we got to our car, we hear "Excuse me!!  Were you not satisfied with your food or something?  Why didnt you leave a tip?  I'm not doing this for my health!"  The hostess actually followed us to find her tip!!!  We were in shock.  My husband handed her $2 & said "We got the buffet.  We didnt have a waitress."  She replied with, "Well, this is how I make my living.  If I dont get tips, I dont get paid."

I am in this VERY SAME SITUATION right now, only the neighbor feeding the cats is my mother in law!  The cats keep having kittens.  My dog goes ballistic every single time I take him out because we live on the lake & they have to cross our yard to get to the water to drink or catch fish or whatever they do down there.  I called animal control & they said we could either rent the humane traps & we could only set them during certain hours (their business hours) or we could pay them $65 per cat to have them come pick them up, spay or neuter them and bring them back.  First of all, we dont have the money to fix 15-20 cats and second of all I DONT WANT THEM BACK!!!

My beagle wont sleep on a dog bed.  We thought for a while that it was the type of dog bed that he didnt like, but we've tried all kinds-he humps them and then chews them all up.  Finally about 2 months ago, my mother-in-law was going thru some of my husband's old stuff at her house & came across an 8-ball beanbag & asked my hubby if he wanted it.  He did, and to our astonishment, Cooper loved it!  He climbed right up in it and went to sleep.  What a weirdo.

Another thing he does is when you give him a dog biscuit, before he will eat it, he has to chase it and attack it.  He pushes it around with his nose and jumps at it for a few minutes, then he will eat it.  It's hilarious to watch.

Have you really considered whether you are truly happy with this job? I know that you may consider the job "just a job and I need the money", but you've also invested some valuable time there. I also know exactly how you feel when you say you feel left out. It would make me feel awkward and uncomfortable.

Excellent advice above, (but stay away from the cleavage suggestion!). I am wondering how old you are because there are people out there who become annoyed when given instructions from a boss who is much younger than themselves.

For me personally, a challenging job which allows me to work independently is the most suitable job for me. I have been a litigation/real estate paralegal for over 20 years, and I am very good at what I do.

Perhaps a little training in another or similar field with commensurate pay might be an option. It sounds like you have earned some experience at your current job. I'd run with it and apply that experience/knowledge to a fresh new job or perhaps a career which will satisfy you in the long run.

I truly wish you the best of luck!

Age is another part of this issue.  I look 19, but I turn 30 in two weeks.

Just be yourself, you shouldn't have to change for anyone. If anything just try to speak up more.

Sometimes it's best to not be into the clique that way you aren't brought into all of the drama and crap that goes along with people's gossip. Heh.

Just be friendly, assertive and be you. You're there to work to get a pay check, I would mostly focus on that. If there is some people at work you feel you can relate to, then try starting conversations with them. You don't have to hang with everyone.

I guess work is a lot like high school, huh? :P

This sums it up-it is JUST like high school.  I didnt fit in there either.  I find that most of the folks that are at the top or at least closer to it than me got there by kissing butt.  It is not in my nature to do this and I wont.  Starting conversations isnt a problem for me.  I'm sure if you asked my coworkers, they would tell you that I am super friendly.

The more I read the other posts, the more I start to realize what my real problem is-I work with a bunch of bitches.  If they arent in their teens, they are stuck up and talk down to everyone not at their level.  I have zero patience for people who do that.

I guess what I need to do is either find another job or make friends with the only truly nice people in he building-the elderly folks & the janitor.

^This is the best policy.  Making close friends at work leads to conflicts and drama.  People get their feelings hurt.  People feel taken advantage of.

You also said you are in management.  Who are the people who aren't including you? If it's your underlings, that is because you're the boss.  You're different.  You can't be their friend if you're their boss.  If it's your superiors, that's probably why.  People tend to socialize laterally on their own level.

I'm talking anybody-people higher than me, under me or at the same level as me.

Fitting-in is overrated.  I have always reveled being different from most people.  I have worked in offices where there was a sorta matriarchal hierarchy.  If the main women didn't like me, I didn't last long.  That can be a problem when you have bills to pay.

If you enjoy what you do then sink into that.  If its just a paycheck, do the work and take the money.  In that case, its just a job.

I have always been a pretty talkative person, open.  Still, I've not had a lot of freinds.  I prefer it that way.  Its less complicated and dramatic.

Also, if these people are rude enough to single you out, you probably wouldn't like them anyway.  Its not worth making freinds with people who are jerks.  People like to have a scapegoat, a target upon which to focus thier angst about life.  Sorry you're it at your job.  But there is always one wherever you go.  Silly humans.

And a great way to bolster confidence is to take a marital-arts class.

Funny you should mention that-I've always wanted to take martial arts.

It sounds to me like you have a plantars wart.  I had 6 in one foot several years ago.  It feels like a sting or like you have glass in your foot, in fact, that's what I thought it was.  Anyhoo, get yourself some epsom salt.  Fill a container with water as hot as you can stand it and add about a half cup of epsom salt & allow it to dissolve.  Soak your foot in it until it cools off. After about a week of soaking, the thing you can see will come to the surface and you can get it out with tweezers.  It's like a little piece of gravel.  Good luck!!

Thanks for the reassurance, ladies!  I am currently taking Levoxyl.  When I was taking Synthroid, my periods were the same as they had always been-predictable.  Since changing to the Levoxyl, they have been messed up.  Right now, I'm going thru what you described, rachael.  I started 10 days early & the flow is more like a trickle.  I'm on day 4 today & this morning my head started throbbing as if I was just starting.  What's odd is that just this past week, my hubby & I decided that we ARE going to have a baby in the next year.  I just hope this doesnt hurt our chances....

This is the reason I'm no longer on BC.  About 4 years ago, I started having trouble breathing.  Just walking across the room would cause me to be out of breath.  I went to see my family Dr. & she did a chest x-ray and ran some other test in the office that were inconclusive.  Because of my age (25 @ the time) and the fact that I was on BC at the time, she suspected that I had a blood clot in my lungs and sent me immediatly to the hospital for a cat scan.  At this point I had never had ANYTHING wrong health-wize in my life, so I was scared to death!!  The scan revealed no clots & I was diagnosed with adult onset asthma, but from that day on, I have never taken another BC pill.

Welcome! I dont have any children, but I do have twin sisters.  My mom is a member of a a "club/group"called Mothers of Multiples or MOM for short. They are all over the country & they have local & national conventions.  Twice a year they have yard sales & they are AWESOME.  They get together & have dinners & have lots of fun (I've gone with my mom).  You should search MOM & see if there is a group in your area-I know you would enjoy it!  Best wishes!!

Is this anything like a planter's wart?  I had some of those one summer.  My family & I had rented a house a the coast of NC.  By the end of the week, 3 of us had them.  At first, it felt like I had a piece of glass in my foot.  Then we figured out what it was, so I started soaking my feet in warm water & epson salt.  After about a week & a half of the soaks, you could see this grey thing comming to the surface of my skin.  When it got right at the surface, I used some tweezers and pulled it out-it was like a piece of pea gravel.  It was a little black rock like thing.  I kept soaking for another few days when it was all said & done, I soaked 6 of little rocks out of my feet.  I have had no other trouble since.

I was diagnosed Hypo almost a year ago.  My first dosage of levothyroxin was 112.  I went for a recheck & my levels turned out too high.  I was so jacked up & hyper, I got NO sleep & my face broke out in cystic acne (still is).  Dr. then lowered my dosage to 88.  I felt great at that dosage.  I felt the most "normal" than I had in a long time.  Dr. checked my levels & they were too low, so up to 100 I went.  I went right back to being hyped up, broken out & feeling like crap.  Had another recheck & levels werent right then either.  At this point, the Dr. said that he thought the fluctuation my be due to taking the generic version.  So, for the last 4 months, I've been on Synthroid 100.  My whole face is broken out in serious cystic acne.  My periods are screwed up-they are the reverse of what they used to be, I am so depressed and agitated that I can hardly stand myself!!  I actually cussed my dog out last night!!

Luckily, I have yet another recheck this Thursday & ALL these things will be discussed & hopefully soon resolved.  I so feel everyone's pain with Hypothyroidism-It sucks!!

This is exactly what happened to my great grandmother minus the skiing.  She was in a car accident in which she lightly bumped her head against the window on the passengers side.  She got out of the car on her own with no help, she walked over to a police car & gave a report to the officer, walked to an ambulance to talk to her friend that was driving and got into the ambulance to ride with her friend who got cut in the accident & on the way to the hospital, she fell over.  As we age, our brain shrinks, increasing the space between our brain & skull.  When she hit the window, her brain bounced against the inside of her skull & caused blood to pool, causing pressure on her brain.  She never spoke another word.  She lingered in coma for a month.  We took off her life support on April 3, 1989.  Rest in peace Grandmommy.

I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in April of last year.  In the time since, I have been back to the Dr. 4 times for rechecks and have had my dosage changed that many times.  The first dosage I was given was WAY too high & that caused all sorts of problems: Extreme cystic acne (ping pong ball sized!), inability to sleep (would go 2-3 nights with NO sleep), shakiness, dizziness.  With the next dose, I felt much better & I slept better, but tests showed that it was too low.  The third dosage was too high, then my Dr. suggested that I switch to the name brand Synthroid.  I will find out how well its working in May.
