Wow!  I see this thread is still going strong.  I was here when it started then jumped off the wagon sometime in November but am back at it again effective yesterday.   I have "found" all but 8 of the 22 pounds I lost Yell but atleast didn't find them all.   Wink

When I was posting before my Mom had recently passed away (7/23/07).  Here I am back again and my Dad has recently passed away (4/6/08).  Both had cancer.  Another chapter closed.  It's time for me to get on with life.

I'm glad to see so many familiar faces.  KathyPK

Is your sodium intake high? Sodium will cause water retention.  I've never noted it on the scale because I weigh only once a week but I can really tell the difference by the fit of my rings and suspect it would cause the scale to go up also.

I'm 53 so I'm not that far behind you in regards to age.  There's lots of folks here in their 50s and 60s and surely some higher.

We need to be healthy no matter the age.

Welcome!

I'm so pleased I had a normal eating day yesterday with real food that can be properly tracked.  Since I always seem to have that glass of wine with dinner, I upped my calories for week 13 to 1400 per day to accommodate the wine.  Sounds trite, I know but it keeps me honest with calories and making sure I get at least 1200 nutritious calories.

Sodium was 319 and cholesterol was 143 for the day.  They need to be low 'cause tonight is shimp night which is packed with cholesterol.  I was pleased to have downed 70+ ounces of water.  That is good for me.  No exercise yesterday but it poured down rain most of the day.

I'll get the walking in today.  Should I do  a double??  LOL.

There is such a thing as a focal hand dystonia which is characterized by involuntary movement.  Pianist Leon Fleicher is affected by it.

In 2000 I was diagnosed with a neurological disorder called cervical (as in neck) dystonia or spasmodic torticollis.  Fortunately I am one of the fortunate few (10%) who has gone into remission.  Like essential tremor, dystonias are often action induced and "disappear" while sleeping or resting.

You might want to take a look at www.wemove.org.  It is a sight regarding movement disorders.  I believe there is an essential tremor chat room there is a there is WEALTH of reliable information.  Good luck to you.  I know how frustrating it can be.

I'll start (again) today with the "hydration" thing.  My only real hydration last week was wine and coffee.

My excuse:  we're suffering from a major drought in NC.  My motivation: it has been raining for 2 days!!

Bring on the H2O.

It's good to see someone's scale is moving "south".  I'm refusing to weigh today since I went to 4 "get-togethers" this week.  I'll post next week with something less than "38 to go"!

I'm refusing to weigh today.  I had 4 nights of "get-togethers" this week and know in my gut what the scale will read.  Not gonna do it!

I'll be back next Friday as a "loser".

Good Friday morning to all and congratulations to all the "losers and maintainers".

I'm refusing to weigh-in this week after a Sunday night football party, Tuesday night "dinner group", Wednesday night "meet in the cul-de-sac" for appetizers and drinks and Thursday night "pairing party" for a golf tournament.

I will jump on the scale next Friday November 2nd and report a one two 2 pound loss to 177 or 176.  Right now, I don't even want to look.  LOL.

I adopted 2 cats years ago.  Mac died in the vet's office after an operation.  He was only 3.  The house seemed so empty when I came home even though I still had his brother, Squat.  Flash forward 15 years.  Squat died after giving me 18 wonderful years.  Talk about an empty feeling....

Everyone thought I should get another cat.  It took me about 7 months but I did get another.  Wally needed a home and now he has one.  I've loved him for 4 years.  :)

When you desire to have another pet you will get one.  You have to do it under your own terms.  I never wanted to feel like I was trying to replace Squat.

I'm sorry.  I know how much you loved your dog and how lonely you must feel with him gone.

Snuzzle I'm not too knowledgeable about "where the fat and skin go" I just know that they tend to disappear.  From what I've read we only have so many fat cells in our body and as we overeat they don't multiply, each just grows larger.  Your skin is young and has more elasticity than mine (at 53) so I'm confident it will tone up.  Maybe when you build the muscles beneath it will help fill the excess skin in an attractive way.  How's that for a theory!!

Trish, you've certainly dealt with some heavy blows and I can relate to the comfort food idea.  I've looked at food and weight as "my protector".  Perhaps the more fat I surrounded myself with the more I could protect what was I was feeling in my heart?  My parents were both diagnosed with cancer in April of 2006.  My mother passed away in July 2007 and my father is currently "hanging on".  In the last 18 months I had to arrange for their care (long distance), sell their home, all of their personal belongings, etc.  I turned to food for comfort.

I struggle with it daily and have tried to change my focus from eating properly to "lose weight" to eating properly to "be healthy".  At 53 years old my cholesterol is high, my blood pressure is high, I'm overweight and I have a family history of colo-rectal cancer.  I am my mother in so many ways...

We have to look at control in a different way.  We can't control so many things that happen in our life but we can control what we place in our bodies.  That is the one thing we can control and we have to make the right choices.

I have my 60 minute walk in already.  Hooray!

I have a bunch of little errands I have to get done that I have been putting off forever.  They WILL get done today.

Today I am back on my 2 dairy, 2-3 fruits, 5-6 vegetables, 2 servings of meat/fish/beans/nuts and 1-2 grains.  Hooray.  I've already had milk and yogurt so I think I've been "craving" dairy.

Ohio, that's how I fried my fish: corn meal with Old Bay.  I was thrilled when I went to the store to pick up the fish.  It was on sale for $3.49 a pound (advertised) but when I went to the fish dept, they had it reduced to $2.19 a pound.  The clerk said it was fresh (not frozen) and they were shipped too much so had to get it sold.

Hope everyone has a good day.  Eat healthy food today!

Goals?  What are goals??  LOL

I got the house cleaned.  That was a goal.  Turned out that arrival time for the guests was 7:15 which made it somewhat dark outside so all I really needed to do was keep the lights dimmed.  HaHa.

I FRIED (now that's real healthy) 42 catfish fillets last night before Sunday night kickoff.  Everyone seemed to love it.  It was all gone and there were only 16 people here.  Now my house smells like a cheap "greasy spoon" restaurant.

Ohio, I laughed out loud when I read your line about needing to stop your arm exercises.  Hope you got the tire fixed.

I'm soooooo looking forward to Tuesday and walking + 2 dairy, 2-3 fruits, 5-6 vegetables, 2 meats/beans/nuts and 1-2 grains.  It was a long, hard, fun weekend.  :))

Well, I'm sitting here heavily identifying with not bouncing back from too much weekend libations and laughing over getting pinned by the bouncing fitness ball.

We had a bunch of neighbors over last night to watch the football game and the topic of conversation seemed to be how difficult it is to get up from sitting on the floor.  :)

Hi snuzzle.  Welcome.  You're young @ 22.  I think with some good toning exercises coupled with losing at a reasonably slow pace you'll be ok in the "skin category".  It's amazing how things can firm up after they shrink.

Welcome from me to the newbies also.

Talk about craving carbs... I think that's about all I had this weekend...and fat.  I didn't really overeat but I sure ate a lot of junk.  We had a bunch of neighbors over last night for the football game.  I have no idea why I decided to FRY catfish but everyone seemed to love it.  All 40 fillets were eaten.

Here's my pet peeve...why do people think they need to leave their leftovers with the host??  At midnight last night and at 3 this afternoon I found myself devouring the 7 layer taco dip that was left.  The good news is, it's gone!!  I'm looking forward to tomorrow and my regular day of servings of:

2 dairy, 2-3 fruit, 5-6 vegetables, 2 protein and 1-2 grains.

Naicel, I'd like to help you out with carb ideas but I try to just "say no" to stuff like bread, rice, noodles.  I swear they send me into a carb binge.

I MUST do something today.  My house is a pig-pen and last night at the neighborhood "happy hour"  I invited folks over this Sunday night to watch the footbal game.  Go Steelers!  We actually get to see a Steeler game in NC for a change!!

Clean, clean, clean.  If I get this house cleaned today.  I will have accomplished a MAJOR task.

Have a good day all.
