Daily: oatmeal / Shredded Wheat or All-Bran cereal, soy milk, cottage cheese (if I've got stock), almonds, tofu, stir-fried veggies, peanut butter (I'm hooked on this stuff!) Weekly: eggs (due to an allergy... but I still do like me some eggs every once in a while :P), baked beans |

| Foods | Why do you choose to drink an alternative to cow milk? | Jun 06 2008 08:52 (UTC) |
27 |
Like the others, my initial reason is that I'm lactose-intolerant. Nowadays, even if I wasn't, I think I will be sticking to my soymilk. I can't even stand just thinking about the taste of cow milk, and it's partly because I associate my consumption of it with terrible memories (and odours, yikes). I actually prefer almond milk, taste and calorie-wise, but unfortunately they don't have it available in the country I'm living in right now. Even soymilk is pretty hard to find in the area, which surprises me considering that nearly everyone here is more or less lactose-intolerant as well. |

| Vegetarian | Does dairy make your skin break out? | Feb 16 2008 21:43 (UTC) |
3 |
It definitely depends on the person -- in my case, dairy does cause me to break out. Back when I didn't know any better, I've always just associated it with TTOTM. By now I've actually realized that while I do get pimples due to the hormone level change, the kind that's caused by dairy is much worse and harder to get rid of (which I often refer to as 'cow puss', that kind of nasty acne :/). For some reason, I don't get any weird side effects from eating fat free dairy. I've cut back on my dairy consumption since I'm aiming to be vegan at some point, but I used to eat fat free cottage cheese by the tub daily and not once did it cause my skin to break out. It's made me think that it's the fat in dairy that's the culprit, though I've yet to read up on it. |

| The results from that calculation actually make more sense to me than having the default 1200 for women regardless of any other factors. After all, 1200 kcal is the bare minimum for someone who's 5'2", 100 lbs. who stays in bed all day, I think. Not everyone has those stats, nor do we all stay that sedentary. | |||
| Fitness | Bums!!! | Jan 23 2008 16:26 (UTC) |
|
| I am also a UK size 12 when it comes to trousers (could probably squeeze into a 10, lol!). :) I used to hate my bum a lot but now that I've slimmed down drastically, I'm learning to embrace it since I'd look like a stick without my butt and my hips! The thighs are a whole other issue, though, but everything else makes up for it. :P | |||
| Foods | Breakfast? | Jan 01 2008 16:52 (UTC) |
3 |
| It depends on what you've been snacking on. If you still feel full then it was probably enough to serve as your breakfast, so you don't have to eat any more since you're not hungry. :) | |||
| Foods | water addicts.........do you have a 'cutoff' time? | Dec 21 2007 15:19 (UTC) |
2 |
| I usually stop both eating and drinking after my last meal, which is usually around 6 PM as well. If I get thirsty at any time after that (happens rarely for me though), I'd have the water, but I make sure I get the excess out of my system before I go to sleep. I've never had a problem with disruptions that way. It should be okay as long as you don't drink a ton of it right before bed. | |||
| Foods | What is your top 3 Favorite food Brands (Healthy & Unhealthy) | Dec 21 2007 15:00 (UTC) |

Healthy: 1. Nature's Path 2. Clif / Luna 3. Evo Junk (just the ones that I still eat at rare occasions): 1. Kraft (things like Oreos) 2. Hershey's 3. Lean Cuisine (though marketed as "healthy", it still fits into the frozen meals criteria) |

Movies are MY LIFE, I was gonna make a similar thread but looks like ya beat me to it. :P The ones at the top of my list are 300, Snatch, Fight Club, the Bourne series and Batman Begins (then again, pretty much all Christian Bale movies xD). There's just so many that it really is hard to pick! |

| Vegetarian | Why? And Hello! | Dec 19 2007 15:58 (UTC) |
6 |
My primary reason would be unhealthy agribusiness practices. I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority here since a lot of you would cite ethical reasons for going veg, but we're all entitled to our own opinions on the same matter. However, I do think we can all agree that it's the healthier choice, granted that you've done your research and not just jumping blindly onto the growing bandwagon. Sadly, the latter seems to be happening a lot and so we end up with quite a handful of people living unhealthy vegetarian lives. But that's best left for another topic. |

| Motivation | Well, this is new... | Dec 17 2007 21:35 (UTC) |
|
| That's really eerie, the exact same thing has been happening to me for the past couple of nights as well. I've never been one to binge on anything but lately I've been getting the urge to just grab for something (mostly entire boxes of cereal) and not stop until I become so stuffed to the point that my stomach ached terribly and I could barely stand without being in so much pain. And even though I am expecting my period, this is the first time that I've ever really pigged out because of it, assuming that it is connected. | |||

Age: 17 (gonna be 18 in less than a month from now!) Height: 5'1.5", I'll always say that it does count. :P Weight: 102-ish lbs. on a good day, small frame and all. Calories: 1300 on the most sedentary of days, 1500 at most and slowly maintaining at that. I never get how some people who are waaaaay taller can claim to be maintaining with these same numbers. >.> Exercise: I do a LOT of walking. That's all you need to know. xD I don't obsess much over my exercises. |

| Young Calorie Counters | favorite band/song. | Dec 13 2007 15:35 (UTC) |

I happen to love Eminem as well. Particularly his Eminem Show album which is his best work, IMO. Then there's "Weird Al" Yankovic, Natasha Bedingfield, Shakira (only for that catchy Hips Don't Lie song :P) and another composer, Clint Mansell. Other bands would be Muse and a Japanese Visual Kei band called Nightmare. |

| Foods | Porridge/Oatmeal | Dec 07 2007 14:37 (UTC) |
7 |
| I am not American but I might just be guilty of "cheesy oatmeal". I always have mine with some cottage cheese, cinnamon and a bit of sweetener tossed in. I don't do well with carb-y anything, but I do love my oatmeal and the protein from the CC helps balance it out. And hey, I happen to think it tastes great! :P | |||
| Foods | Just Recieved My Free Sample Of Simply Nutrilite's Chocolate Crisp Bar | Dec 02 2007 13:45 (UTC) |
|
| I ordered one about three weeks ago and it's been two days since I've eaten it. ;) I've never been a fan of any hints of fruit taste in bars, but it actually tasted better than I was expecting! I wanted another one right after finishing it. And I got hungry pretty soon after, so that can't be too good. It's just not for me, I guess. :( | |||
| Foods | Ode to the Vitamuffin | Nov 28 2007 14:43 (UTC) |

| I absolutely love Vitamuffins and I don't think I'll ever get tired of them. :D Even though Canadian Vitamuffins seem to be, well... lacking in vitamins compared to its counterpart, so to speak. xD I still love it anyway. | |||

Original Post by vmcbutterfly: It's the complete opposite in the store I get mine from! They've run out of deep chocolate which is my absolute favourite, and only ever have multi and blue bran in stock. :( If only they could switch. :P |

| I'm a Filipina but I've never really identified with that since most women from the Philippines have the typical rectangular body shape going, whilst I have wide hips and a tiny waist. I've also got strong Chinese and Hispanic blood from each parent respectively, and I attribute this seemingly cursed pear shape to the latter. :P Don't get me wrong, I would choose it over bigger boobs any day! | |||
| Weight Loss | question on diet | Nov 13 2007 00:38 (UTC) |

| That doesn't sound very healthy at all. I'm also 5'1", lighter by a few lbs., very much sedentary and I still lose at 1200 calories! I carry my weight in my thighs too, so I can definitely relate. But eating so little with that amount of activity won't do much good for you -- if you're a pear shape like me, there's very little that you can do to alter that. Toning is the way to go, but you need to feed yourself more or there won't be much left to tone. | |||
| Vegetarian | Question to all vegetarians | Nov 03 2007 15:52 (UTC) |
46 |
| Yes, that's what I meant. :) It's actually nice to see a decent discussion like this every now and then since most of the ones I come across usually ended up into all out flame wars and one could hardly tell who is against what anymore, yikes. |

| Vegetarian | Question to all vegetarians | Nov 03 2007 15:36 (UTC) |
50 |
I'm not mad, but you have to understand that not everyone who decides to go vegetarian does it for the same reasons. Some people do it mainly for their own health benefits regardless of being an animal lover. That happens to be true for me, I do eat eggs for the protein and some dairy products for the calcium. And while it's true that I can "easily get those from other sources", I still choose to eat them to add a little more variety to my meals. If you find that gross, well, to each his/her own. :) Another thing worth taking note of is that not everyone has daily access to food that are strictly vegan. I used to live in a country that does not have a grasp of the concept of vegetarianism, let alone veganism. If I were to be a vegan there, I would not have been able to get a sufficient amount of nutrients due to such restrictions and the people around me would see my refusal of meat/eggs/dairy as arrogance, which is a big deal in a place that's pretty much synonymous to poverty. Being able to eat eggs/dairy would be very helpful in that sense. I'm sure there are plenty more reasons that other people can elaborate on, particularly religion, choice and of course, money. Personally, what I don't understand is all the hostility going around when it comes to these labels. |

| Foods | gum? | Nov 03 2007 13:00 (UTC) |

Try it for yourself. ;) I'm not the type to go on binges, but chewing gum does have its uses when I feel like eating out of boredom. The chewing gives me something to do and helps stop the cravings. |

| Health & Support | Logging supplements & meds | Oct 15 2007 22:39 (UTC) |
5 |
I take a multivitamin daily so I always log what I can of it (such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, and so on...) so it is possible if it's a supplement that provides some of the more common vitamins/minerals/etc. Not sure about the calories so I'm just assuming that they do have calories, but just a tiny amount that isn't worth fretting over. Hopefully I'm right. :/ Some may contain sodium though. Again, no idea if it's an amount worth logging. I'd log it if the container has the exact amount printed out somewhere on it. |

| Games & Challenges | what celebrity do you look like? Who do you want to look like? | Oct 14 2007 23:48 (UTC) |
17 |
Katie Leung (Cho Chang from the Harry Potter movies), without a doubt. I realized that by accident (long story :P) and it is pretty amusing having a "twin", celebrity or not. I've worked hard for it so I'm happy with what I've got! :) |

| Foods | Almond Breeze? | Oct 14 2007 00:48 (UTC) |
2 |
| I wish they had unsweetened vanilla in the store I go to... I end up having to get unsweetened original for the sake of low-cal. ;) As you'd expect, not much taste but I've gotten used to it and it's perfect for my cereals which are usually calorie-dense. | |||
| Foods | Splenda safe? | Oct 10 2007 00:50 (UTC) |
20 |
I've found that Splenda (sucralose) causes horrid itches and rashes on my skin, so if you want to risk that then sure, it's safe. :P It's not the same for everyone as most people have no trouble with it while others like me seem to get allergic reactions, stomach problems, etc. so it all depends on the person. If you've tried it and haven't noticed anything weird happening, then good for you. ;) I can, however, tolerate Equal (aspartame) for some reason. But I'd stick to regular sugar as I almost always need only a small amount whenever I use some, so the calories don't bother me all that much. |
