| Fitness | Slim in 6 effective? | Apr 23 2008 09:56 (UTC) |

| Slim in 6 is pretty effective, yes. It was very effective for me, I lost about 30lbs but I fell off the wagon and now am back on it. Just be sure you have a radio, ipod or something of some sort while using Slim in 6 since I have heard from others the music can be quite boring (I'm deaf so I wouldn't know! Ha) I was wondering when you said you tried Taebo and other exercises, did you try eating back some of your calories that you burned from Taebo? Remember, 1200 calories for women is what we need just for our organs to function. Say Taebo is 500 calories burned, I'd eat half of that bringing up your calories to 1450 or use the Allowance tool to see how much calories you need to eat along with your activity level. |

| Weight Loss | Determining daily calorie intake??? | Apr 09 2008 08:44 (UTC) |
|
| Well, CC gives you an estimate of how much you should be eating. If you are a bit more active for that day, you can eat maybe up to 100 calories more. CC recomends 1450 for me if I am sedentary but on some days, I am not so I eat maybe 1600 at the most for that day. It is all a case of trial and error. If your progress is good then you should not worry about it. :) | |||
| Weight Loss | CC Burn Meter: How many cals should I aim for? | Apr 09 2008 08:38 (UTC) |
|
| You should click on Account and where you see it says Good evening, Chelsea... click on options. Look for diet type and there should be two buttons which say weight loss or weight maintenance. So if you wanna lose weight, then click on that. Recalculate what your calorie intake should be based on your lifestyle. I personally leave it at sedentary just to make it easier on me. Hope that helps? |

| That must be tough to resist! I'd build up some more willpower and stick to your snacks. Maybe bring a "naughty" snack with you in case you feel you cannot resist these treats at work then log it in. You will know how much calories you have had. As for the food log, I've never been able to figure it out yet either, I work overnights as well (midnight to 8am) and my calorie intake is never right.. Either too much or too little so I just stick with writing it down manually in a notebook. Sorry if I have not helped much. | |||

| I don't think not eating for that long will put you into starvation mode. if it is for a week or more, yea I would be worried. I don't think it should or will affect your progress. After surgery, depending on what your doctor tells you, I'd go back to it as if it never happened. As for your intake today, seems like there is nothing you can do until after the surgery. I doubt you will gain anything at all, perhaps a pound or two but you'll work that off in no time. You have already lost 21lbs and that is very good! Keep it up. :) Hope this helps somewhat. | |||

| I would recommend calling your nutritionist and ask for clarification. :) Maybe protein has something to do with blood in the body. I dunno. Sorry I'm not much help. | |||

| also, did you check to make sure it was for weight loss, not weight maintenance when first signing up?... click on account/options (above the weight loss chart) and scroll down to Diet Type: Weight Loss/Weight Maintenance. Hope that helps if that was the problem :) | |||

| absterry- that is because you are burning off calories that you have ate. your body needs more fuel when you exercise than when you are sedentary. I don't think you should eliminate that. | |||

| nycgirl- for me yes it is in the frozen food section with all the seafood. I got mine at Sam's Club since they are individually frozen with plastic covering. But I would say you can get them in any frozen seafood section... or even fresh and then you freeze them. :) | |||
| Weight Loss | ok i'm confused....anyone have an answer? | Sep 04 2007 06:29 (UTC) |
|
haley- yes that is right but don't forget to eat back some of your calories that you burned... I'm supposed to eat 1350 at sedentary but with my exercise I burn about 700 cals (swimming for an hour) which brings me to about 650 calories NET... So I eat about 1950-2050 the days I exercise. You don't always HAVE to eat back all of the calories you burned, just at least half of it if it's under 1200. Hope this helped! |

thanks for sharing the link, cellophane.. Depo-Provera on the website you provided.... Yea I knew it would make me gain... my DR said possibly 0 to 20, 50lbs. It depends on everyone... So far I'm doing good... *fingers crossing* Atkins- never tried it myself but a friend of mine did and she kept passing out... definitely not healthy. Same thing with the grapefruit diet *shudders* I personally hate grapefruits and I had an uncle and one of his coworker that did the grapefruit diet. The weight peeled off on my uncle and the coworker but the coworker could not take it and she kept feeling faint, dizzy, etc... As for South Beach, it's not so bad... I lost a lot of weight pretty quick but of course I gained it back pretty quickly after trying to eat "normally"... I also found a link talking about the south beach diet and I wanted to share with those who are considering it or already on it.... http://healthletter.tufts.edu/issues/2004-05/ southbeach.html |

| Foods | HELP!!! how many calories in a chicken-macaroni salad? | Aug 31 2007 11:41 (UTC) |

| oops! try to guesstimate your portions for each item, like maybe 4oz chicken, 1/2 cup elbow macaroni, 3-4 tbsp miracle whip [light], etc then enter it in the recipe analyzer. I did a sample of above and it came to around 500 to 600 calories, I can't remember (it was early this morning sorry!) |

| I do use swimming as one of my workouts.... I like it... But I also was not sure what the benefits of swimming were so I looked up on the 'net and copied n pasted below. "Swimming works your whole body, improving cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength, endurance, posture, and flexibility all at the same time. Your cardiovascular system in particular benefits because swimming improves your body?s use of oxygen without overworking your heart." if you wanna look more into it, i got it from http://www.lifescript.com/channels/diet_fitne ss/Other_Tips/the_endless_benefits_of_swimmin g.asp |

briwill- good question... i will look on the 'net and find out what i can... edit: updating on what I found. I've looked up on recipes on making your own pickles... some of them have no salt recipes, etc. I didn't link any urls because I noticed they used wayy too much sugar in their recipes (at least 1 and 1/2 cups to 2.) However I did find that some pickle manufacturers do make no salt pickles.. I will be looking for that in my area for sure. :) oh also found something if you're interested in making your own. http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/COLUMNCC/cc 970828.html * Pickling without salt: People interested in reducing their sodium intake can use low-salt pickle recipes. You can make fresh-pack pickles without salt, but not fermented (brined) pickles or sauerkraut. Salt decreases the growth of some bacteria and molds. To make pickles safe, no-salt pickles should contain at least a 1:1 vinegar/water ratio, and each jar of pickles should contain at least one-fourth cup of vinegar per pint jar of pickles. Salt-free pickles need extra seasoning for good flavor and to compensate for the missing salt. Peppery-hot, sweet and sweet-sour pickles taste better as low-salt rather than no-salt pickles. |

| Weight Loss | counting calories is impossible | Aug 31 2007 06:33 (UTC) |
13 |
| I posted something like this recently.. I found it hard and crazy to count calories all the time so for easy reference, I entered calories, fat content, protein, carbs, sodium and so on for every food I've bought for my home by said serving (usually not more than 2 pages) and post it on my refrigerator. I find that I'm less obsessed that way. Also sometimes I forget what I eat so to help me, I count days in numbers, starting sunday (1) - monday (7) since I work sunday nights (considering it monday) and I put it next to the food I've eaten. For measuring, it's pretty much photographic memory for me. Try taking handfuls to make a cup and remember how much it takes for each vegetable. For pasta, I tend to compare it to my fists which fits a little under 6oz for a measuring cup but I tend to undermeasure since I have other sides along with it too. |

| Well I have noticed several posts like this and most of them say it takes a while for it to tighten up so keep exercising by doing abs workouts, and everything else plus drink a lottttt of water too! It could take up to a year (in one of the posts I saw regarding this issue) for it to go away. Hope this helps! | |||
