I binged for the first time in my entire life today. After going months witbhout eating more than 600 cals a day today I think I ate about 3000. I was fine untill after dinner. I got the worst sweet tooth all of a sudden.. it was ridiculous. Over the course of the night I had like 12 "healthy" vegan ginger cookies (900), an apple(80), 1/4 popping corn(90), 3 Tbsp Hummus(90), 1 cup kashi go lean (200) 1 cup soy milk(70) 1 flax + waffle with strawberry jam (170), some seed crackers (120) SKITTLES!!!!(250), soy crisps(300) 1/2 cup high fiber crisp(140) and probably more that I'm forgetting. Thats on top of breakfast lunch and dinner.

I've never done ANYTHING like that before. It started off as just having ONE cookie that my mom bought and I just couldn't stop eating sweet stuff! and then I got sick of that and had some salty stuff, and then wanted more sweet! and it was just like... well I've already ruined this day, so I might as well just keep going... I can't even believe it. I generally have a will power of steel!! OH well, I guess all I can do is get back on track tomorrow...

sk8erdude, whoever you heard that from probably didn't drain/wash them first or cook them properly, because they smell, taste, and feel GREAT, don't knock them till' you try them. Besides, ANY food can taste good if you keep an open mind and don't expect healthy food to taste like junk food. You can begin to love and appreciate the taste of ANYTHING for what it is if you practice this.

anyways...I love these freaken noodles.

Well it's my personal belief that eating/drinking dairy is extremely un-natural. And yes, baby animals will nurse from another animal but only if it's forced by a human, it wouldn't do it on it's own in nature. Regardless I don't do dairy. If you don't think it's un-natural, all power to ya.

Any type of red meat, ANY dairy product of any kind or anything with dairy in it, Avacados, White bread is disgusting...I wouldn't eat it if someone paid me, anything with any refined flour or sugar in it. Pretty much anything un-natural. I don't understand how people can eat that stuff. On the other hand I LOVE every single fruit and every single vegetable known to man (besides avacado and bananas...they're creamy). I love pretty much everything everyone else hates. BLACK LIQUORICE IS AMAZING and I love all seafood.

I don't understand how people can eat dairy products...it's so un-natural. Humans are the only species on earth who consumes the milk of another animal. We're also the only species who drinks milk after being weaned off our mothers. That's disgusting. You should eat like an omnivore animal. Fish, chicken, fruit, vegetables, nuts and whole grains grains. ALL NATURAL ALL THE WAY!!!

wow, I honestly don't know how you cannot be sick and dying. Friut and vegetables contain so many things that are ESSENTIAL to health. AND HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE FRUIT!?!?!?!?! it's like freaking candy! Fruit is my biggest treat and I'm in heaven when i'm munching on some berries or a peach or an apple. And vegetables are DELICIOUS! Grilled zuchinni and eggplant are like the gods of the food world. What do you eat if you don't eat fruit or veg...bread and cheese? Thats so unhealthy, no wonder you got overweight.

You really need to take VERY GOOD multivitamins if you want to live to see your grandchildren...

You must never poop either, fiber comes from fruit and veg...

wow, good luck there...

I know EXACTLY what you're going through. I was always skinny, but had a lifestyle change and gained about 10 lbs in a few months. I was extremely unhappy about this and decided to loose it to get back to my normal perfectly healthy skinny self. Well I lost the ten pounds in no time...plus 15 more. I was just to used to diet mode that I couldn't get out of it and still cant. I can't begin to imagine eating like a "normal" person. I now have a BMI of about 16.5 and my mom has been NON STOP killing me over the weight loss. She said I was perfect before and now I look like a deathly walking skeleton. She's always on my ass about what I eat and when she doesn't like what she hears or sees she freaks out and yells at me and gives me the silent treatment. It used to be "you can't do ________ untill you finish your essay" but now it's "you can't do ________ untill you gain some weight." It's terrible and she's always mad at me and I hate it, but I can't just GAIN WEIGHT it's not that easy.... oh dear.

I hasn't stopped, thats the thing, but I eat WAY under what I need and my BMI is around 16.5. I am on the pill though...so I just want to know weather or not it's possible for your periods to stop due to anorexia while you're on the pill. Because under my circumstances I should have lost it a while ago... I'm just curious as to why I haven't and thought it might be due to the fact that I'm on the pill. anyone?

#1. HOLY SUGAR!!!!! Frosted flakes, all that orange juice, popcicles, and all those pops, wow, you must have a sweet tooth. One rule of thumb, don't drink fruit juice. I know it may seem to be a healthy choice compared to a pop or something, but actually, it has just as much sugar and no fiber. If you're craving something sweet opt for the whole fruit, not the juice. That way at least you're getting the fiber out of it.

#2. Stick to drinking water only. You were probably a big pop drinker and decided to switch to diet to save the calories and shed some pounds, but diet soda is still terrible for you, even if it has no calories. It also makes you crave sweets and makes you more hungry throughout the day so you end up eating more calories anyways. DRINK WATER or maybe some skim milk or green tea if you need flavour.

#3. Ranch dressing....sorry to tell you but that salad may have had as many calories as a burger due to the dressing.  Stick to a vinegarette for dressing or a low-fat/no fat dressing on salad, AND MAKE SURE THAT SANDWICH IS ON WHILE WHEAT BREAD! No refined carbohydrates.

#4. Sugary cereals for breakfast are a very bad choice. Empty calories that leave you hungry an hour later. Go for something with TONS of fiber and use skim milk instead of 2%. If you absolutely cannot give up the sugaryness of the cereal add some honey or maple syrup to a very high fiber cereal like all bran with extra fiber or fiber one.

#5 MOVE MORE. Simple as that. move around as much as you can. Whether it's taking the stairs instead of the escalator or parking your car further away from places you need to go to get in a little extra walking. Just suck it up and do it.

Just eat lots of whole grains, whole fruits and vegetables, lean protiens, lots of fiber, cut the sugar and add in some movement and the pounds will melt off.

Good luck.

I know exactly what you mean. My last relationship actually ended BECAUSE of my obsession with food and calorie counting. I'm in pretty much the exact situation. I would never eat out of eat unhealthy food and I would always talk about what I was eating and how healthy it was and my ex said that I was boring and annoying and he hated it and ended up breaking up with me.  I'm woth you, but at the same time I don't really have any advice...in fact, I'd like some advice as well....

wow I really admire you for being able to spend that little on food. I'm by no means rich but I spend at least 200$ a WEEK on food. I couldn't live without my fresh berries and seafood and organic produce. I cut back on other exprenses rather than food, because what I put in my body is extremely important to me and I'm quite the gourmet chef, I couldn't possibly stand crockpot meals. Keep it up though if it's working for you.

thanks guys for responding, but unfortunately I live in Canada and it works much differently here. First of all we don't have G.E.D.'s, also there is no essay that you have to write to get in to university and there is no interview. Your acceptance is based entirely on your marks, which are also different here. We go by numbers (0-100) and percentages, not by letters. For example I would get an 88 in a course not an A or B or whatever. My boyfriend is from Pennsylvania and he was very confused by this when I tried to explain it all to him as he actually got a G.E.D. and not a diploma. Also, I was planning on ALOT more than just finishing highschool, I was planning on applying for programs at top universities that require a minimum of a 93 average, so this is really puting a huge damper on my future and I'm very worried. I don't want to end up working in a coffee shop when I'm older when I could have been a journalist or a writer travelling the world all because I got mono in grade 12. I'm so terrified...

Really sorry to break it to you, but no matter how skinny and beautiful you are you would NEVER be able to do runway modelling at 5'2" anywhere, period. Even in Japan you have to be AT LEAST 5'6" and in asia everyone is practically a midjet. The only other modelling you could possibly do would be like, the petite section of a zellers catelogue. Sorry girl, I guess it's just not in the cards for you. You should consider yourself lucky though, modelling seriously fucks you up, take my advice. I love doing it and hate it at the same time. Keep trying to up those calories though, you MIGHT gain a little at first, but in the long run if your're eating over 1200 you will loose it.

If you want to tone up and loose that spare tire, ALL you need to do is add strength training, without it, you will never be happy with the way you look. Low calories is not the key to loosing weight and looking good it's muscle building. Do intense strength training 3-4 times a week and eat ton of protien and you will have a sexy body in no time. Muscle burns WAY more calories than fat so once you begin to build the muscle, the fat will naturally begin to melt off. That is your answer. MUSCLE MUSCLE MUSCLE!!! It's a man's best friend. Calorie restriction is for little girls, be a man!

NO, eating larger amounts of low calorie food DOES NOT hinder weightloss. It speeds it up! It keeps your metabolism going strong while not eating a ton of calories. Your diet sounds like it's made up of mostly carbs though, you should get some protien and good fats in there. Drink a Glass of skim milk or have a low fat yogurt or something as part of your afterschool snack, perhaps in place of the apple. Oh and eating that much as a snack is fine, as long as the foods are low cal. Eating all those friuts and vegetables doesn't even add up to eating like a TINY bit of something unhealthy like chips or a muffin or chocolate bar. You're doing fine.
Weight Loss Anyone else hungry? Sep 14 2007

eating small portions on "normal" foods is a very bad Idea because these foods are usually very empty calories that will leave you hungry again soon after no matter how much of them you eat. If you want to loose weight you HAVE to eat lots of healthy foods and not little amounts of junky foods. Thats jut the way it works, or else you end up in the situation you're in right now being hungry all the time and you won't want to, or be able to live like that for long causing you to eventually give up your diet. It's just plain uneffective.

For breakfast, try a bowl of VERY high fiber cereal such as All Bran with extra fiber or fiber one. Both low in calories and high in fiber. Add Skim milk and top with TONS of fresh berries. They are extremely low calorie so its pretty hard for the cals to add up to much. This breakfast will run you a max of 200 cals and will keep you running and full untill lunch.

For Lunch, Have a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread, NO WHITE BREAD, it's compleately empty calories and will leave you hungry. Use extra lean oven roasted turkey breast and add mustard, hummus, spinach, tomatoes and sprouts. If thats not enough for you have a few raw veggies dipped in hummus as well such as broccoli or radishes. Top it all off with a low cal fruit like a peach. THIS MEAL WILL KEEP YOU FULL. All this for about 300 cals, depending on the bread and meat you use.

If you do get hungry in the afternoon, for a snack try almonds, yes I know, almonds. They are packed with proien and a small amout of them will keep you full for a long time. Don't go crazy though because they do have a lot of calories:7 per almond. Or, you could try a low cal protien/energy bar. They are very nutrient rich and will also keep you full.

For dinner, try a peice of lean protien and with some form of vegetable. Ex: Grilled salmon with steamed broccoli and asparagus with lemon.  Very healthy, delicious and filling. That will run you anywhere from 200-300 cals

Which leaves room for an evening snack like fruit or nuts or a peice of whole wheat toast.

There you go, no more excuses, give up the "normal" food and try some GOOD food. You will ahve way more energy and be full and satisfied all day AND loose weight. Hope that helps.
