| i ate at a dining hall for several weeks this summer. I'm vegan, so my options were far slimmer than yours will be. I mainly stuck to simpler foods so that i was confident in their calorie content. I had toast with peanut butter and fruit for breakfast. I could always count on there being a cooked plain vegetable at lunch and dinner so i always included that. I would often make my own dishes with what was available. If there was plain rice i'd mix that with the veggies of the day, peanut butter, hot sauce and soy sauce to make a peanutty asian thing. A LOT of my meals included cereal and soymilk because it was one of the few balanced and calorie confident options i had as a vegan. | |||

| Weight Loss | does TANNING burn calories?? | Dec 19 2007 20:12 (UTC) |

| if you're looking for a self tanner that doesn't smell bad nivea's gradual self tanner is fantastic. It smells so so good. i love it. it doesn't smell like the rest of nivea's old lady scented (no offense to older women, i just associate the smell with someone not my age) products. definetly worth a trip to walgreens to at least take a whiff. I get a noticable tan in just one use, however two uses in a row is better. | |||
| Health & Support | Bulimia Hell......anyone out there going through this? | Dec 14 2007 18:16 (UTC) |

| yes. bulimia hell. Get yourself to a psycologist. "I don't want this to effect my career" were exactly my thoughts as well, but do you think that hours spent binging and purging don't damage your career as well? imagine a life where that's not the only thing you think about! wouldn't that be great! There are lots of intensive outpatient programs that occur at night, when the workday is over- it wouldn't have to interfere with your schedule. If you have b/p'd everyday for 9 year, i'm willing to bet you've done a considerable amount of damage. GO GET YOURSELF SOME HELP. Take it one day at a time. One therapist visit won't be that bad, you have time for that. From there you can figure out a plan to get on with your life. |

| Health & Support | i don't understand EDs | Dec 10 2007 23:04 (UTC) |

| k_lippy, what it seems like you're not understanding is that it usually is not about freaking out about image or wanting to look a certain way. It's about control and addiction. restricting, binging and purging are just symptoms of a greater problem going on and it's got little to do with food, eating or bodies. teaching someone about healthy eating, or providing and atmosphere where there are no pressures to look a certain way most likely won't prevent eating disorders. teaching someone about self-love and respect and providing emotionally healthy atmospheres probably would. |

| Weight Loss | I NEE D TO LOSE 2 inches off my hips!!! Urgently! please help | Dec 10 2007 18:43 (UTC) |
3 |
| judgeing from her picture, it seems as if she's a model, and perhaps she does NEED to loose two inches for her job. I would suggest finding a temporary solution like a body flush, juice fast, or those silly body wrap things a few days before the show or whatever it is you have. For the long run, just use the tools on the site to loose inches in a slow and healthy way, because once you start eating and drinking regularly again, those inches WILL come back. | |||
| Fitness | Any dancers?? | Dec 07 2007 20:25 (UTC) |

| your dancing will not be that affected by your weight. Yes you may need to loose some to get en pointe safely, but you should work on your techique first and foremost. just keep going to class and work hard. There isn't a better way to improve. | |||
| Foods | 1000 Calorie Day then 1000 Calorie Dinner | Dec 07 2007 18:45 (UTC) |

| why don't you eat your protein shake an hour before your workout? then you'll have dinner shortly afterwards to refuel. I agree with making breakfast bigger and having real food instead of just the shake, then make your dinner a bit smaller to compensate. | |||

| i gained a lot of weight very fast when i was 18. I got horrible horrible stretch marks on my love handles and inner and outer thighs. I've since lost basically all of that weight and i still have the stretch marks. They've changed color and are much much less noticeable, but they are still there. | |||

| i also take a 1.5 hour ballet class 3x/week and i always log the full 1.5 hours. I read on a ballet mag's website(can't find it again right now, but when i do i'll make sure to send you the link) that a ballet class burns significantly more calories than what i see listed on calorie count. I know i'm not dancing as hard as i was in high school, so i figure i'm burning less than what that site said, but definetly more that what calorie count is suggesting- so i ignore those breaks between exercises and log a full 1.5 hours. | |||

| Two weeks ago i decided to get help for bulimia. I'm seeing a therapist once a week, that's all. I plan to start an intensive outpatient program in mid december after i finish this semester of school. However, the disease has taken over my life, so i'm worried that i'm not doing enough RIGHT NOW for treatment. Although i'm seeing someone, i've only just started-i'm still b/ping multiple times a day. I purge up to 20 times a day, so i realize i don't have the time to NOT treat it intensely. I'd also like some advice from anyone who has actually RECOVERED to see how they went about it. | |||
| Weight Loss | High carb vegan diet | Nov 15 2007 06:48 (UTC) |

| i don't see how this is possible. Unlimited whole grains? you do not loose weight by eating that much. I'm vegan and the majority of the foods i eat are whole foods. I do not weigh less because i'm vegan. "unlimited servings of fruits, vegetables, whole grains" and still loosing weight. This doesn't seem possible to me. | |||

| hey there. I'm also an ex ballet dancer, however i've recently picked it up again as an adult. I've been taking some pointe classes and already see a huge difference in the size of my ankles. I'm building muscle fast. My advice to you is this- don't dance. Muscle goes away. At 5'8" 117 pounds i'm sure no one is looking at you thinking "boy, look at those cankles!" I'm positive. | |||

| i love love love kale! all greens really. I chop up one bunch of kale, and saute it with 1 large button mushroom, 2 large cloves of garlic, 1 tsp of olive oil, and salt. I have this as my main dish for dinner at least twice a week. YUM. | |||

| i'm vegan and i do this all the time to replace the oil and eggs in cake mix. Just a box of cake mix and a can of coke (regular or diet, they both work). Use a lighter soda for yellow or white cakes. Cream soda is a good option because lemon lime seems to screw up the vanilla-like flavored cakes. They come out flatter but they're still fluffy and delicious, people don't notice a difference in taste. | |||

| i've been doing just ok. This week has been really really good except for about 2 hours ago i binged out of control on cereal and attempted and failed to purge afterwards (no gag reflex anymore, thanks teenage years! *sarcasm). I'm doing really poorly emotionally and it sucks. i've been about the same weight for two weeks now i think. sucks. glad to hear you guys are doing well though! congats on getting out of that plateau, ashalee! And i'm really impressed by you, cmama, as well! |

| OH MY GOD WHY WILL THE SCALE NOT DROP! I am still 130. Still. It's been almost a month. Sometimes i beat myself up over it, and i think "oh its because you eat too much on some days, you're a bad person". But i just looked at my past month on calorie-count and i NEVER eat over 2000 calories. I'm 20, i burn a lot throughout the day, i exercise. I don't eat over my expediture. I don't understand why i haven't lost weight! UHG. Just venting. And no, i don't look better, and my pants don't fit better. The only things dropping are my hopes. Anyone making progress? |
