| I'm glad I saw this thread because I just got done doing turbo jam!(Still sweating) I've been doing it on and off for about two years. I can do it regularly and pig out all the time and stay the same weight or I can do it and eat really healthfully and lose weight really easily. It's so much fun. But I warn you.... it's ADDICTIVE! And I never get sick of it! I have a bunch of the DVDs so I switch up a lot. It's all fun. I don't even have a gym membership anymore because turbo jam (and yoga) gives me everything I need fitness-wise. | |||

| Poof, you suddenly grow this new hair that dries really fast. You never have to worry about that. However, you realized that the hair you have grown on your head belongs elsewhere on your body. Haha.
I wish there were more men out there actually worth dating. |

| The Lounge | Cat-Calling: Offensive or a Compliment? | Mar 15 2008 14:10 (UTC) |

| No respectable guy would yell at a woman out of his car, ride down the road alongside her, and whistle and yell or whatever he was doing. That's disgusting. I find cat calls to be really offensive and they just creep me out. Because it's not like a woman has to be fine for some dudes to whistle at her. Ya know? A lot of guys see women as just objects, and not as whole people, and I don't wanna be anywhere close to that. So I definitely don't take it as a compliment. Where are their manners anyway? Pigs. | |||

I wish I had Angelina Jolie's lips, and not to mention, her boyfriend. Yummy. |

| Hey parul. My best hypothesis in this situation would be that considering you work out so hard on a daily basis and you're only taking in 1000 calories a day, which is not nearly enough even if you're not working out, your body is holding on to every calorie, fat store, glucose, glycogen, etc. that it can get its hands on. You're unknowingly starving yourself. You know those fat friends that everybody has that eat less than we do? I think that's why. Not that 143 is fat, that's what I weight and I'm far from fat. Here is what I would do... I would see what the website recommends as far as calories, and probably stick to around 1200 to 1800 calories a day depending on your height and activity level (yours seems pretty high). Fill your body with an abundance of good foods, but still keep track of the calories. I've started eating tons of fruits and vegetables and lean proteins. I'm starting to really trim up now. It's amazing. We are what we eat, but we have to eat enough to keep our bodies burning the calories. They won't burn them if they're not there to burn, they'll just hold on to the few they get. Another thing, drink green tea. I drink it daily. Research has shown that if you drink 3 cups a day, you'll raise your BMR by 4%. To boot, it decreases your appetitie, slows rate of triglycerides to the blooodstream, and prevents small amounts of starches from being digested (something like that, don't quote me). I just know that it's amazing for every single part of your body. And when I drink it, I lose more weight. Good luck!!!! |

| By far the greatest "non-diet" diet book I've ever read is called French Women Don't Get Fat. It's written by a French woman who came to the U.S. as an exchange student when she was in high school and came back fat. She didn't understand why.... then she looks at some of the cultural and gastronomic differences. It's really interesting. It explains how the French really eat and how they're able to have five-course dinners and stay thin. It totally changed the way I look at food. Plus, it's cute, funny, and stylish. Very entertaining. What I really appreciated about it is that the author stressed how important it is for us ladies to respect ourselves and that we deserve to be thin, healthy, and beautiful! A more scientific book that I really loved was called Eating for Optimum Health by Dr. Andrew Weil. This guy talks about the true benefits and drawbacks of different foods. He has written a lot of health books. He even wrote one on Aging and foods. Smart guy. I think he's from Harvard. But I'm a person who's not crazy about diet books in general. I find most of them tend to contradict eachother and I just end up getting confused and saying **** it. But the two I just mentioned are fantastic. |

| Abracadabra (I wanna reach out and grab ya, haha ok stupid I know). The democratic primary is over..... and W assasinates both Hilary and Obama, and then all the republicans running somehow vanish mysteriously (part of a conspiracy, perhaps?)... then the government decides to impart a new rule.... if there is no one running for president then we have no choice but to have the current president stay president for four more years. Hence, four more years with W. Yikes.
I wish there was peace on earth. |

| Weight Loss | How important is drinking water per day in losing weight | Mar 10 2008 19:15 (UTC) |

| I read one of the best analogies on how important drinking water is. And it went somewhat like this.
Look at a dry sponge. Then pour water on it. It brings it back to life and hydrates it. It's just that important for us. Hope this helps!!! |

| Meka leka hi meka hiney ho.... your wish is granted. You can indeed exercise and burn as many calories in 5 minutes as you usually do in 60. However, your body will go into convulsions and you'll start chanting random lines from bad... straight to DVD movies. Then you'll pass out and have uncontrollable gas for the rest of your life, thereby causing you to never work out or go in public again for fear of embarassment and because you are a freak of nature. ;-)
Man, I wish my house would clean itself automatically. |

| Disclaimer: I'm a super nice person, and I don't want my comment to sound rude at all.... but.....Dude, who cares? Who cares what another person orders? I don't. I could care less. It doesn't affect me in the least. If someone enjoys eating a combination of rice, seaweed, imitation crab, cucumber, and avocado, then more power to them. Order that stupid california roll. And enjoy every bite of it. I'll still love you just the same. Granted, Toro, white tuna, and uni are pretty awesome, but if it scares you, it scares you. It is what it is.
I love sushi. It's amazing. I eat it weekly. Yum. |

| Foods | Peanut Butter | Mar 10 2008 04:22 (UTC) |

| The most amazing and not to mention, healthy peanut butter that I've ever had is called Naturally More. It comes in a short fat jar and has a yellow lid. It has just the right balance of sweetness and nuttiness and is full of omega 3 fatty acids. It's made with peanuts, wheat germ, flax seeds, cane sugar, egg whites, honey, and flaxseed oil. It has such a good little crunch to it with the little flaxseeds... they have a very toasted flavor. If I get hungry for a snack sometimes I just eat a spoonful of it and enjoy every bite or lick of it. I got it at Wal-Mart. Everyone that's talked about it I think got it at Wal-Mart also. I highly recommend it. It also has no trans-fats or cholesterol and has only 169 calories per 2 tablespoons. | |||

| Foods | How do ya'll eat canned tuna?? | Mar 09 2008 22:43 (UTC) |

| Mmmm capers..... One ingredient I accidentally left off my tuna salad "recipe" above.
Capers do look like peas don't they? But they're not at all. They're actually flower buds from a plant found in the Mediterranean (Capparis spinosa). The plant produces actual flowers too. And the buds are pickled so they have a very vinegary, lemony, pungent flavor. They're really delicious. A good alternative to a pickle relish in say, a tuna salad. But they're used completely differently usually.... like you couldn't put pickle relish in veal picatta because that would be preposterous. Lol. They're soooo good though. They come in jars, usually in a vinegary liquid. You can drain them, rinse them, or add them just as they are into things, even with some of the liquid. Add them to things like you would add olives, and I mean that in the sense that they don't need to be boiled but can be a good integral part of the dish to participate in the cooking process. |

| Weight Loss | frustrated and not sure what to do | Mar 09 2008 22:33 (UTC) |

| Ok now you're starting to worry me. I weigh 143 pounds and I'm 5'5". I wear a size 6-8. I'm not fat.... actually I give off more of the impression of thin. I look like I weigh 120... the number doesn't matter. I'm dense. Don't worry so much honey. Check out my picture (my face is cut out... yeah like I want the whole internet to have access). I eat stuff like that all the time. That's healthy stuff. The stuff to worry about is eating a pint of Ben and Jerry's... which I also do sometimes. But just keep it generally healthy. If you're freaking out over a spoonful of peanut butter and a handful of KAshi Go Lean.... that's not a good sign. That could be the beginning of an eating disorder. I'd say definitely eat atleast 1500 calories a day. I eat between 1300 and 1700 a day and I've been dropping pounds like crazy. P.S. I just ate a spoonful of peanut butter. |
