Health & Support Trying to do it right! Aug 03 2009
16:24 (UTC)

So I've been eating more for the last 11 days, I woke up this morning feeling great! I got on the scale, it said 131.4 Which is about the same. So I'm going to 1200 today, and try to get some exercise in everyday (most days) I've done some reading on repairing your metabolism. Not that I didn't believe you... but they all said the same thing!

Health & Support menopause Aug 03 2009
01:14 (UTC)

My mother is in a nursing home with dementia. I wish I had her to talk to...

My weight is also going to my stomach. I'm having such a hard time getting these last 10 lbs off. My body has changed so much. My fat is so soft, my skin is dry and wrinkly, my boobs, omg my boobs. I was at the beach with about 7 other women all about 40 yrs old, I'm 51. I told them, kids and gravity take their toll on boobs but menopause will finish them off.

I find that I can't focus, I feel like that is ruining my life. It seems I cannot get anything done.

There is an article in Womans Health Magazine pg 94 (July/August issue) on the weight loss benefits of consuming 3 low fat dairy servings a day. It went on to say that soy milk is just as effective!

Okay, how about I start with my maintenance calories at sedentary? That's 1400. Im going to start right now. I've already had 655 today, thats breakfast lunch and a snack. If I don't quite get it all in today, I don't want to stuff myself, I will tomorrow. This is hard, but I am very interested to see what happens next.  I will weigh myself in 2 weeks.

Again thank you for caring

Maintenance calories? really? They are about 1610 for light activity. I like your second suggestion, also. I don't do much for exercise I go on spurts. I do love boot camp type, calisthenics. I do walk. Thanks for your in put I really appreciate it :)

I think it is just a habit. I have a fruit, like watermelon chunks or grapes, so you feel like your just popping something in mouth, instead of chips or something bad. This might sound weird but I'll eat fresh steamed green beans. I eat them with my fingers. I don't cut them. I reminds me of eating french fries. It works for me. Although I don't snack nearly as much as I used to.

Weight Loss A question about calories eaten. Jul 22 2009

I have a friend who says "I can't lose weight, I eat hardly anything..." I know she's full of it. She eats, I know she does. I don't understand why people lie. It is very hard to get motivated, I know that. I don't know why they can't say "I'm trying to lose weight, but I can't stay motivated.

It drives me crazy! I guess I'm just venting

Motivation Question About Getting The Motivation To Lose Weight Jul 22 2009
01:54 (UTC)

Hi Chip,

Try starting with the calories you need, your "burn calories" just to get your self started, and you'll see some things that you can elimiate, or even swap, like fruit instead of cookies! Log everything even if you have a bad day.

It's changes you need to make for the rest of your life. Take small steps.

Good Luck

Maintaining waking up hungry Jul 21 2009

It depends on what you eat at night also. If you have "bad carbs" or "empty calories" with no nutritional value it makes your blood sugar level crash which gives you those ravenous hunger pangs.

I thought it was very interesting, It seemed to encourage eating whole clean foods, which is exactly what I am trying to do. I am counting calories and losing weight. The fact that calorie science is not exact makes sense.

Thanks for sharing lara

If it were me, I would just increase slowly, being on the cautious side. I'd just add an extra 100 cals a day a week at a time. So like, once hitting your goal weight, increase to eating 1,300 a day for a week. The week after that increase to 1,400 and keep doing that until you reach 1,600. Even if that really has no effect at all in terms of gaining back weight, it at least keeps you mentally sane. lol

 My thoughts exactly!

Hi Jody,

I'd love to try to lose 10lbs. I weigh 132.4 and would like to get to 115. I've lost 20 lbs so far. 12 lbs since I started with CC. I plan to step up my exercise, I think that is the only way I'll come close. This is the motavation I need! I am going on vacation the 3rd to the 10th with no internet access. I'll be psyched to post when I get back!

Thanks
