Warning you all, my punctuation will be weird because I am on the French Keyboard at the moment and do not feel like switching because I am in class.

Ohio, you know better about 1000 Calories.  How about you keep a regular deficit so you dont kill your body.

KA2007 Good job so far, I see that you are completing all your goals.

Summer_moth - I do not remember you coming in!  Welcome in, even if it is late!  AND!  147... I would die to see that number.  I havent seen that number since I was a freshman in high school. *ENVIES MUCH*  When I get down to 150 I am going to go back to the doctors and find out if I can get an insurance approval for reconstructive surgery.  The doctors' approval will be higher if my weight and cholesterol are both lower.

Todays goals:

  1. Log expenses (thanks for the idea, KA).
  2. From 3 - 5, run to the bank, put the check there, and leave it hopefully.
  3. Cut down on coffee (I keep running to the BR... thanks IBS).
  4. Any deficit at all.  Possibly eat 1800 - 2000 Calories.  That would be a 800 deficit.
  5. Work 12:45 - 3:00; 5 - 9:45 ... 6 1/2 hours, I think.  Someone do the math and get back to me.
  6. Find time to nap.
  7. The store à 9:30 avec Erica.

thanks for noticing, and kudos to you for your good plans that include work AND relaxation!

i have managed to eat reasonably when being with my family that was constantly offering me unhealthy foods, making LOTS of fun about my foods (yes i use a bigger percentage of vegeatbles for a recipe than is usual. that is one of the 100 reasons why i am losing weight. modyfying recipes is not something that is soo funny. well, they did not get their way - i continued eating the healthy way)

Weight Loss What's your weight loss pet pieve? Jul 06 2009
08:29 (UTC)

i hear ya on both points!

had it all recetly.

1)

skinny colleague "i think i have gained weight here (shows her body) dont you think?"

(she is wearing very tight fitting clothes so i think even if she does not have a scale she knows if shes gained or not)

2)

family and their idea about food!

all my close family except one person falls into the "obese" category.

they do know about calories and everything and i guess they have lots of info about what is healthy food.

just went to spend a few days with them. bough my food in advance, agreed on when the kitchen is fee etc, all went okay BUT me receiving constant offers of having this or that with them (all really unhealthy foods, or something that i just dont like - i had more than enough of my foods but thanked them very politely every time - i understand it is natural thet family offers foods to its members)

alas. family had a surplus of fruit that could not be humanly eaten, so i have decided to make some homemade marmalade. did all the work with the berries and was very satisfied - i eat yogurt (cottage cheese) with fruit pretty often and i have explicitly said that it will be nice to buy playin yogurt and have a tsp of the homemade marmalade with it.

oh! "but you said you do not want this because it has sugar!"

i NEVER SAID ANYTHIN LIKE IT. my family sometimes just LIES to make one feel or look stupid. i refused some cake (frankly, it did not even look appetizing:) politely and then i rfused some other food that was accidentally also sweet. i have NEVER said anything about sugar (or even anyhting about "ooh this is unhealthy" etc.). my family KNOWS i eat sugar and everything i want IN MODERATION.i have stated that anything about me and sugar was a lie which angeres the family but in the end they agreed i have never said it (the reaction was funny though. "i have never said so. it is just a lie." - "but you did not want that cake." - "it does not mean i do not eat sugar. i have never said anything abotu sugar." - "hmph.")

they see me losing weight and themselves gaining weight. they see what i eat (ie veggies, tofu, crispbread, yogurt, cottage cheese... the usual stuff) and the amount of my food. they also know that i buy fruit yogurts that HAVE sugar (i mostly avoid artificial sweeteners). a cup of plain yogurt with some homemade marmalade is about the same thing as a store bought fruit yogurt, except it tastes as i like and has no chemicals in it. WHY do they do this?

(going to have yogurt WITH my marmalade for breakfast now. 200 cals of healthy, tasty food. yes it has sugar. sugar is not a poison - a spoonful of marmalade a few times a week does not make people obese...)

Weight Loss "Cheating" with your weigh ins? Jun 27 2009

Original Post by member76:

So I've been trying to loose 20 pounds for a while now

I've been weighing in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but sometimes I go home to my parents and have a "bad" weekend. This one was especially bad, confession time:

- A lemon slice cake at work on Saturday
- A large packet of minieggs
-A vanilla latte and a cake out shopping with my dad on Sunday
- A huge Indian buffet dinner on Sunday night

Arrrgh, bad I know!

After one of these bad weekends I find myself skipping my Monday weigh in because I know I'll have gained. I try and be healthy until Wednesday when I weigh in again. I know this is probably bad as I should force myself to face up to the consequences of my weekend eating on Monday but I'm worried I'll be too disheartened if the scales go up. However I'm sure if I knew I HAD to weigh in on Monday morning then I would be more controlled at the weekened. Does anyone else find this? Or have any idea how I could beat the bad weekends so I wasn't too scared of the scales on Monday?

Thanks.

i understand the mechanism but i do weigh in even after bad days. i say to myself - so what, it is one kilo more than yesterday, well it cannot be all fat, and even if it was by some miracle, i srill weigh less than weeks ago.

i prefer facing the consequences of my actions. this helps me get better and become more responsible

Awesome.  I'd always like a reason to party.  Just I'm off alcohol at the moment.  Alcohol and I had a fight and I lost.  Badly.

this happens quite often:) i sometimes drink wine but these days i kinda think the cals and hangovers are not worth it. i plan to have a few glasses of wine during my holiday but very little

Ka2007:  Is it about to be your dad's birthday?

no, his bday is in march, but in my country we also celebrate name day (the day his name is in the calendar, coming from the old times when there were names of saints in the calendar - more is explained in wikipedia athttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Name_day). it is like a smaller version of birthday, ie ppls usually have nice dinner and give the person smallish presents:)
