Hello All, Just finished reading through the thread and I don't know how to feel. I'm 5'4.5", 38, 153.3 lbs. (down from 159, the heaviest I've ever been), I workout 4-5 days a week and I've gained and lost the same 2 lbs. at least 5 million times ( a little exaggeration), but you can understand my frustration none the less... I've given up liquor, try to get at least 8 hours of sleep and now, to some degree, I feel imprisoned. My ideal weight is around 133-137, or as I like to call it...my fighting weight. ;) ... I definitely would like some encouragement, some feedback, or something. I just feel like my metabolism has come to a dead halt. I eat clean with NO deviations, so I'm not understanding why this weight is NOT coming off... maybe I'm too fixiated on it. Hope to hear from someone. Thanks for letting me vent.

Hello All, I'm back and hopefully it'll be short term, not to say that I don't like this forum but it's such a sense of failure to have gained the weight back. I've lost 5 lbs. so far and am now at 154 but I want to be in the mid 140s by the end of May. Just stopping through to say hello and to stay encourage and maybe offer a little encouragement. |

Unfortunately, that's where we store the majority of our fat. The only way to preserve the shape and over tonality of those areas is by working the muscles in that area. Start light bench pressing and doing squats and lunges and at least what you have will be nice & toned. |

| Weight Loss | is there any cause for gaining weight besides eating more? | Apr 18 2008 23:08 (UTC) |

There could be a number of explanations for the weight gain that's not related to drinking alcohol or washing your jeans. One, if you were on vacation, is it possible that your acitivity level decreased? Did you work out while on vacation or change your activity lifestyle at all? Although you don't drink alcohol, could you have just drank more fluids in general in place of alcohol? While your caloric intake remained the same, what kind of calories did u consume? Eating 5 cucumbers at 200 calories versus eating half a burger will definitely change the composition (lean body mass).of your body. Just some additional things to think about. |

Skip getting a plate first, I say get your cup first and fill up on water or a diet drink before you even get your plate. Make sure to eat a decent lunch and remember as long as you haven't deprived yourself throughout the week, you should be fine. If you set boundaries, such as I get a plate of food and one dessert then you can reward yourself with a yoga Saturday, and if you don't stick to the plan, then perhaps a penalty system of running an extra 30-45 minutes will provide incentive. Just a thought... But, I'm a bit hard on myself these days as I'm know to sabatage myself. |

Well I'm new to this group and hopefully my tenure will be short. I started off Sunday at 159.5, the highest weight in my life and just broke down in tears. No one to blame but me and my poor eating habits. My goal is to not only lose weight but to better manage how and when i eat foods and when it's okay to treat yourself. My thinking is this, if I can get that under control, the weight will just melt away. Just 4 short months ago I was at 137 at was complaining about that and NOW I would kill to be at 137. I just know this weight is too much for my frame. I 'm 5'5, small boned and athletic. Another culprit is my relationship. Having a boyfriend has been great except he's not into working out or going to the gym. :(... I've tried to get him to come but I've made the concession that he must do it for himself, not for me. So, I'm going with or without him. Hmmmph! There's my Thursday rant. To my new commarades: Start thinking about your weekend food intake TODAY! Figure out how not to go too extreme and make a commitment to get some form of exercise on Saturday and/or Sunday. It's always good to start the week off with deficit. Ciao. Talk to y'all soon. |

I am trying to change my weekend behavior too! Aaargh! I lose weight during the week and then I put it back on. I did an experiment this weekend and asked myself every time I wanted to splurge or eat junk food, "do you want to be near tears again on Monday?"... I just am tired of feeling guilty and discouraged and if I know that I can just maintain my weight over the weekend and start losing again on Monday, I'll be fine. This was the first weekend that it actually worked. I actually lost 1 pound! So NO excessive snacking, plan to eat before you go to parties, I like lean hot pockets. Empty calories (like drinking- my favorite passtime ) are culprits too, so watch liquor consumption. Best of luck! |
